As the Meowth ran back to his trainer, Reggie turned to Aubre and asked conversationally, "So how long have you been a trainer?" He was a little concerned about her still crying, but he figured this may be normal for the girl and he was too polite to mention it anyway. "I've been training since I was little, my parents always wanted me to be successful at everything I did. So I had all the best tutors, of course. But the best teacher I had was my Meowth. My first Pokemon, and the center of my existence from then on!" He mused, wistfully remembering a more peaceful time in his life when almost all decisions were made for him.
He looked up at the sky as he spoke, its vast expanse seeming to draw him up into its endless blueness--as if he'd been just another cloud drifting by...he left these thoughts and returned to reality as the battle ensued. He shifted his gaze back to the Taillow as it dodged the Scratch attack and as it attempted to peck at the Aipom's tail.
Marissa (who was the closer of the two Girafarigs to Aubre) gave Aubre a close sniffing, she hadn't done so yet and was still curious about the other trainer her's was talking too. It was a sort of snuffley greeting, her way of acknowledging Aubre's presence. Her soft, velvety nose near Aubre's own.

<YEEOW!!> Fratello yelled while his sister burst out laughing. Right in the sensitive spot on his tail the little bird had pecked. He tripped, and skidded on the ground face down before stopping. He laid there for a moment making a soft groaning noise at his sore tail.
<I...did not see that..coming.> he said lifting his now dirty head and stood up. He dusted himself off before puffing his chest out while his sister was still in a roar of laughter. <You just- and then- pecking- and then you- ow and WAHAHA!> she continued her outfit of laughter rolling on her back tears in her eyes.He snorted before using a sand attack to block the birds vision before rushing again with scratch.

Aubre was shocked when Reggie's voice rang out, she wasn't used to being asked about herself. Thrumming her skeletal fingers against her hip she turned back toward him; and answered. The sounded more like a pupil nervously answering a question for the class; then someone answering a question asked by a peer. "We--ll I went to battl-school for 2 yea-rs." If Reggie knew anything about it he would realize that she had one more year left; and had been unable to finish due to being in the hospital. But she had been given a diploma. "Bu--t I have bee-n surr-ound-ed by pok-emon sin-ce I was a bab-y." Her parents were both trainers; and would have done extremely well; if they had been a little less gold hearted. As to his fanciful musings she made no comment.
Aubre flinched as the Girafirig suddenly appeared in front of her face. Sometimes her constant downward perspective on laugh made it hard to see anything right in front of her, and when her eyes flashed up she was sometimes easily surprised. Realizing that the Girafirig might take her action as offensive she shook her head. "Sorr-y Mari--ssa you sca-red me." Well she had a 50/50 shot of naming her correctly, and she seemed like the younger of the two. Of course this was distracting her from the battle, so both of her eyes flickered to the Taillow, and the female Aipom currently laughing on the ground.
The Taillow lifted both wings in the air, in a form of celebration. Then bowed her head slightly. This action was a apology for the pain caused; both through humilation and the actual attack. Deciding to lessen the sting she spoke up: <You were really close Sir Fratello.> Although she had to admit when he had first screeched she had used her wing to mask her own quiet giggles. Hopping forward she peered at his tail; hopefully it wasn't bleeding.
The little bird was glad when he rolled to his feet; and puffed his chest out; even if it meant she was in this for a long while. <Well since you accepted momma's request--do not hit me to hard alright?> Not that she believed for a second he was the kind to pick on those smaller then him. So hopefully it wouldn't end in a trip to the odd smelling place again. Well before they had to go back and meet up with friends.
Then the sand attack came. The birds face soon became a giant mass of forest debris and moist sand, blinking through it she managed to see the attack. Of course she had no orders from Mommy. "Stre-tch out a wing, lean to the left, and growl" Cocking her head to the side she stuck out a wing, leaned to the left, and let out a quiet growl. Holding her wing rigid she let out a hiss as the Aipom smacked(or should have smacked into the wing.) Stumbling back she was almost unprepared for the next order. "Pe-ck." Shuffling forward awkwardly she jabbed her head forward; towards where the Aipom should have been. Why did momma make me stick my wing out? It now ached like hell.
Aubre had a good reason for her actions; she had learned that the wings of bird pokemon could stand up to a lot of stress; and hopefully that hit had distracted the Aipom; or tripepd him up or something of that sort. Of course it was a hit; but it wasn't disastourous; if there was one more attack like that then she'd take out the Taillow and they could all have a break. (604)[/size]

Cynthia was taking careful stock of the battle. She was preparing mentally for her own turn on the battlefield. Watching the other trainer's tactics and trying to figure out what she would do in the Taillow's situation without directions given.
Marissa licked Aubre's nose, with a sloppy kiss, and then turned her attention to Reggie and his musings. She, too, looked at the sky and tried to see whatever it was that attracted his gaze. Although she had to admit that she couldn't see anything but sky and clouds up there. She shrugged and turned her attention over to her sister, waiting for a cue which would let her know when it was their turn. Upon seeing that her sister was watching the fight, Marissa looked that way too.
Reggie's attention was also drawn back to the tussle, and he thought Aubre was doing rather well, although from what she'd said she probably hadn't graduated from the Trainer's School--one year too short to have finished. But, she still seemed a competent trainer for all that. He watched as the Aipom puffed itself up and went in for another scratch attack under the cover of a sand attack. Then as the Taillow stretched out its wing and tried to trip up or otherwise smack the Aipom while heading left and growling. Interesting tactics he thought. It wasn't what he'd have done; but then he wasn't fighting with a Taillow, but two Girafarigs instead, today.

Fratello stumbled, a bit taken back by the wing attack, and blinked a few times, before he heard the next command. He did 180 on his heels and then moved out of the way of the birds attack. He then shot out another attack of sand, hoping to blind the bird again. Sorella kept some notes on what he was doing, while fighting the fit of giggles that slipped past her mouth once in awhile.
The sound of his sisters laughing and the ring of bug pokemon was distraction Fratello. What he needed was a plan. Dust was already in the air, making it somewhat hard to see, so he jumped into the trees, ready to strike when there was an opening. <Alright, be ready little bird!>he called out.

Aubre blinked in surprise when the rough tongue of the Girafirig scraped up her nose. She hadn't been expecting that, of course she also wondered if she had tasted good, good enough to spark a bite mayhaps? Well since she felt no pain, she realized that the answer to that question was a definite no; or maybe a 'she wasn't hungry'. "Than--k you Marissa." Aubre realized that the distraction may have been harmful to her little bird friend. Instantly blushing she turned from the confused giraffe to the battle. The embarassment disappeared from her face as she watched the Aipom stumble over her Taillow's wing. "Go-od job!" That could have also been directed at the Aipom for his quick and efficient dodge.
Then her vision was once again obscured by sand, she couldn't hear a thing but random chattering from inside the bubble of dirt that her friend was trapped in. I really do not want her to get hurt.. She was just a baby aftr all, too young to even know how to fly. Nw that she thought on it she couldn't help but feel like a monster. Sending a baby out to be beaten; just so she could use it to get home; and send it off into the cruel world, to her that seemed a lot like betrayal. She was glad she could blame the sand for the tear that rolled down her face.
The Taillow smiled as the Aipom jumped out of the way. <Good job Sir Fratello!> Then all she saw was dashing sand, staggering back the little bird began wiping furiously at her eyes, her sand coated wings making htem worse. Finally she closed her eyes, and let the water coating them wash away the dirt. Opening them again, she saw little, but a few blurs that could have been anything. But she could hear. The voice came from above, so the Taillow directed er gaze upward, towards the sky, not even noticing the Aipom on the tree branch. <Ready for what sir?> Oh yeah. She was in the middle of a battle.
Aubre dug her nails into her palms, watching as the purple blur of the Aipom ascended the tree. Then stood there; likely giving a warning before he jumped down and attacked her Taillow. She opened her mouth to end the battle now, but something about the expectant look in her Taillow's eyes stopped her, after this attack perhaps? But why did she want the Aipom to attack? Aubre had a idea though--it would only worked if he jumped; diectly, on top of her little bird.

Reggie watched as sand covered the battlefield again. He put his hand over his mouth to cover a cough. It was awfully dusty, after all. He figured that the little bird would be getting tired soon, then maybe he could let his twins have a go? He still wasn't sure he understood exactly what was going on between the Pokemon, but he decided he'd take his cues from Aubre, who seemed to have a better understanding of the Pokemon conversations than him, today. He brushed off some of the dirt with his free hand from his clothes. It was an amazing sand attack, he had to admit, that the little Aipom had managed to create there. Reggie ran some possible strategies through his mind while he waited and watched.

Fratello knew this pokemon was nothing more than a child, like he thought of his sister, but he was getting a bit frustrated. He sat down for a second and flickered his tail as he let thoughts swarm in his head on what to do.He crossed his arms and closed his eyes as the air remained thick with dust and damp soil. He snapped his eyes open. An attack from above! Perfect. He thought as he hopped back up. He rubbed his hands together. <Ready?> he yelled, now knowing they would know where he was.
He began to shuffled from tree to tree quickly so they couldn't tell where he was. He felt the wind blur by him and whiz in his ear. He kept the smile plastered on his face as he continued to shuffled around quickly, in a blur of purple and cream. <Here!> he yelled, jumping out from a tree, above the bird, and then descending down, in an air attack. He stretched out his claws in a scratch attack.

The little Taillow's head snapped to tthe left, the last of the sand had cleared from her eyes, and through the blur of her vision she saw a large purple blur. <Yes Sir Fratello.> So he was hiding in the trees? <Good job--I wish I could get up there!> The bird cawed happily, a smile plastered on her beak, she knew she was going to lose, but to her that didn't matter; she was fighting a fair battle, and thought that she was doing a good job. That was all that mattered. Flapping her wings she waited for him to make his next move.
The Meowth on the sideways let out a hiss as he realized where the Aipom had climbed. THE TREE! It was truly a ally of the horrid things, either that or he was being controlled. Yet, he seemed much to happy for being used; therefore he was a ally of the tree. At the sound of rustling branches the Meowth looked around, a growl rumbling in his throat. Then in a flash of yellow a shape burst from the bush behind him, pinning him to the ground. <The Trees have me----Aubre!> Then all he heard was ridiculing laughter. Blinking he realized that Achilles was sitting atop his back, a devious smirk on the dragon's face. <The feathered wimp is fighting hmm? Interesting.> After this statement the little monster yawned, making it obvious he had just woken up. <All your chatter woke me up--oh well--this is mroe entertaining then a nap. So whatever.>
Aubre watched as the Aipom began to shuffle from tree to tree, moving much to fast for her human eyes to comprehend. Of course she understood quite well what the purple blur streaming down from a high branch was. Taking a shaky breath she unclenched her hands and called out a order. "Wai--t. Bef--ore he reac-hes yo-u ju--mp backwa-rds." Hopefully the little bird could understand her, or hear her for that matter. Turning her head her eyess alighted on a smirking Achilles; and she sighed. Here came the devil hiself.
The Taillow heard nothing but 'ju--and bac". " But being the smart bird that she was she turned her head skyward, ignoring her stinging eyes. <I see you Sir Fratello> Which of course was a little late, the Aipom was not that far away now, taking a deep breath she jumped back. Feeling a deep [ain as the aipom smacked into her retreating legs, sending her skidding to the ground. What had she and her trainer hoped for? They had both hoped to delay the dodge long enough to send the Aipom thudding to the ground.Of coursei t was hard to tell if they had succeeded or not with all the dust flying about from the earlier sand attacks it was almost impossible.
"Alri--ght you two. That-s enough." Aubre whispered quietly, stumbling towards the battlefield to retrieve her baby Taillow.
This drew a snort from Achilles. <Giving up cause the baby got hit is no fun at all. Such a little wimp our trainer.> Of course he said nothing after that, she had battled splendily. (521)

Marissa, feeling rather frisky after being still for so long, suddenly snuck forward towards the yellow dragon, after he'd play attacked Arbori. She had every intention of nipping his tail! He'd had them all worried, after all, and then he jumped on the poor Meowth, startling him. Marissa slipped silently through the tall grass. Her hooves made only the faintest of noises as she plowed her way between the trees and bushes. Reggie hadn't noticed her being gone, as he'd let his hands fall to his sides while Aubre went to fetch her Taillow, until he heard a cry of alarm from the Meowth and saw Marissa sneaking up on the Statilee. Reggie figured that he'd just let things play out over there, meantime he had a question that was burning its way through to the surface, as Aubre headed back over to where he and Cynthia were standing, "So, does this mean I can send in my Girafarigs now?" He querried, as she drew abreast with her Taillow in tow.

<Oh my.> Sorella said, blinking a few times as the dust began to dissapear slowly. Fratello layed on the ground, face strained, not in pain, but in frustration. <So close.> he said bluntly as he punched the ground, still emotionless. He sat up and blinked. <Well, that's all for me.> he mumbled, now rubbing his tummy of the dirt off. He sighed loudly and stumbled back to his sister.
<What, no laughing?>he asked. She shook her head. <No worries bro, you did good!> she said happily while smiling wide. Fratello blinked, before smiling as well and they both began laughing softly. <Thanks, that was refreshing. You fight really well.> he complimented the baby bird. <But, no doubt from help from your trainer.>

The Meowth could hear the quiet sounds of hooves crushing leaves. Of course that was because he was listening for it, after all he had caught the Girafirig slipping away from the group, but even tough he heard it he had no idea where it was running off to. A shift of the pressure on his back reminded him that he currently had a passenger; one who figured he looked quite a bit like a bench. <Quit squirming you useless pile of fur.> Arbori let himself fall back into the dirt; a fearful look crossed his face, the Girafirig was coming after him and Achilles.
The little yellow dragon was to busy thinking up new insults to notice the newly hatched Girafirig. Until it's blunt teeth clamped around the edge of his tail. With a snarl he stood up, and swung his claw around. <DON'T TOUCH ME!> Now his tail hurt, and with a growl he clutched his right fore-claw to his chest, the quick slash of his arm had caused him a considerable amount of pain. Both of his orange eyes seemed to take on a feral, rage filled glow. <That hurt.> This was not a statement, but a rage filled warning. With a snarl he threw himself at the Girafirig.
Aubre had leaned forward to shake hands with the Aipoms, and to tell them both they had done a excellent job. But, before she had a chance to do either a squeal from her Meowth reached her ears, and was soon followed by a snarl. Fearing it was something chasing after her she swirled her head about, only to see proud Achilles charging at Marissa the Girafirig. Blood trickled down his orange and yellow tail. "Achil-les NO!" Dropping her Taillow on the ground the girl ran toward the scene of the brawl, and now that she was running a limp in her left leg became painfully obvious. Skidding to a stop beside Achilles she wrapped her fabric covered arms around his waist. Which drove the little yellow dragon into a frenzy, his claws tearing the maroon hoody, and his teeth clamping down into the thick fabric. With a yelp Aubre let go, blood streaming down her arms.
Sitting on her behind she watched as her Taillow let out a sharp retort. <ACHILLES YOU BULLY. Ho dare you hurt Aubre!?> The Meowth let out a low hiss, and brought himself to his feet.] <the baby was playing--trees or no trees on your side that is a horrendous thing to do!> The Meowth was trembling; Achilles was a much higher level then him after all. The Taillow on the other hand stared evenly at the older Pokemon, rearing to teach him a lesson.
Aubre waved h her hands in dismissal of the pain, she didn't want a fight. "Reg-gie I am sor-ry Achil-les behav-ed that wa-y." Then she took a shaky breath, laying her right hand on her gouged left arm. The Statilee had stopped thrashing and clawing, and was now content to slump in her arms and growl. The question left her open for relief: "Ask the-m i-t isn't my choi-ce." She felt horrible, what if Achilles had hurt the Girafirig? What if he had seriously hurt her? That yellow monster was one reason she didn't want to be a trainer anymore; she was already frightened enough of others, but for her own allies to hate her--it was to much for the broken willed girl to stand.

After she nipped the Statilee on the tail, Marissa lept back as his quick claws ripped into her soft nose and left red claw marks behind. Even though the little yellow dragon was obviously in some pain it continued to growl and then lunged at the Girafarig again. By then Marissa was far enough away to avoid the immediate attack and then suddenly Aubre was there grabbing the Statilee and pulling him away. Marissa had been on the verge of using a confusion attack in self-defense, but now she didn't need to, so she relaxed and rushed over to Reggie when he called her over.
Reggie took in the situation, and it was rather odd to say the least. Here was a Pokemon attacking its owner, and obviously overreacting a little to a joke played by the baby Girafarig. Although he had to admit that Marissa didn't really know her own strength yet and since she was larger than the older Statilee she may have bitten him harder than she'd intended. That would explain the bleeding tail, Reggie figured. After the Statilee was calmed down, somewhat, he said, "That's OK, Marissa doesn't seem to be hurt too badly, but lets take a look at your arm." Here he walked over to where Aubre was sitting and knelt beside her and started to examine the bites on her arm, he had to roll up her sleeve to see the wounds properly so he asked, "Do you mind if I roll these up out of the way?" While he reached for his bag. He thought his Mother may have put a first-aid kit in there somewhere. She usually thought of things like that, and tried to be prepared for any situation. A good business strategy, after all.
Marissa came over to Reggie when he called. He patted her on the head then looked at her nose. Though bleeding it appeared to be a clean wound, and not very deep. He dug out his first-aid kit and got out a large bandage and stuck it gently on her nose, it was, of course, one of those fancy ones that already have antiseptics in it. Then he turned back to Aubre and waited for a reply about her sleeves before he would proceed. He felt a bit responsible for the injuries she'd sustained. After all it had been the joking Girafarig who had set up the current circumstances in the first place.
Upon hearing that he'd need to ask the Aipoms for a battle, Reggie couldn't help but laugh, but he quickly suppressed it, as it really wasn't the time for mirth. Then he turned to the Aipoms and asked, "Do you mind if my Girafarigs battle with you?" With as straight a face as he could manage, he did rather well, however, considering.

Fratello sighed, before plopping on his bum and sighing. He jumped as Achillies snarled at the small baby pokemon. <Hey!> Sorella yelled, as he attacked his trainer. She quickly ran over to Aubre and gasped as her arm was bleeding. <Oh, are you alright?> Fratello had made his way over as well. <Ouch..> he mumbled, flinching back a bit at, he then glared at Achillies. <Hey, what do you think your doing, going in a blind fury!> he yelled. <Be more aware, the pokemon was just playing around! Even if it hurt, don't go in a blind fury!> he felt like punching the dragon square in the jaw, as he clenched his paw, and growled lightly.
<Fratello..> his sister said softly. She knew that her brother had a strong sense of protection of others, he meets, and this was no different. She then glanced at Aubre. <Hey, it's okay.> she tried to reassure the young trainer. One things that was really unique about Sorella, is she can usually tell what people are thinking, or feeling in a way.
She smiled softly, as she lightly patted her leg, hoping the yellow beast wouldn't attack her, for she's not much of a fighter. Fratello still kept his narrowed eyes at the dragon, to fumed to Reggie to much. <Give me a bit..> he mumbled, able to guess what he had said from the fragments of words he said. His sister dug in a small little brown pouch she had, before handing him on Oran berry.
Fratello took a second, before lightly taking the berry, and nodded his thanks to his younger sister, before taking the berry and shoving it in his mouth. Sorella blinked, while twitching lightly. <Your gonna cho-> Fratello swallowed. <Never mind..> she mumbled, as Fratello was now a bit stronger, and ready to pound the dragon.

(Last time I am being mean to Aubre for a while--<3) The Statilee smirked as he felt his claws bite into flesh. That would teach that baby to touch him---or bite him, even if she had only been playing with him that didn't excuse the fact that those blunt teeth of hers could cause some damage. The little wimpy baby then ran off to her poppa, scared of him no doubt. WHich Achilles didn't mind. Behind him his tail waved agitatedly, sending out the occasional drop of blood. The wound was shallow, and compared to Aubre's a pockmark. Then the Aipom's spoke up, their words drawing agitation and a few snorts from Achilles. <Blind? I was not angry---just annoyed---So I was not in a fury, and I can see just fine even if I was. besidesAubre knows NOT TO TOUCH ME! > THe last part was snarled.
Even though Reggie claimedi t was alright, the nasty gashes in the Girafirig's nose told another tail . But not wanting to accuse him of being a liar she simply nodded. "Al-right. If you sa-y so..." She let the sentence trail off. Some part of her was hoping he wowuld change his mind, she hated when her apologies were brushed off because the intended receiver said it was fine. But it was perfectly polite about it. A first aid kit--she had one of those in her bag somewhere, but that was currently at the center. Then Reggie knelt down beside her arm, and by reflex she shifted her arm away as he went to grab the hoody sleeve. "I'll handle it." Holding out her hands she waited for the bandages. It just stung now, and was nothing major, at least blood wasn't spewing out everywhere.
The young trainer started as the Aipom laid a paw on her leg. Tehen relaxed, she didn;t look angry. Even if she iddn't undderstand the words she knew they likely needed some gratitude. "Thank yo-u." Aubre stuttered, her eyes averted from the Aipom's and towards the path. Achilles pushed his way out of her caged embrace. This time he didn't scratch her, or her hoody. Judging byt his claws it was obvious the gruff rude thign was trying to be gentle.
The Taillow walked to her trainer, and gazed up obviously worried. The Meowth was to frightened to leave the spot safe from trees, and so tried to offer his support from afar. <Where'd you keep that berry Saratello?> The Meowth questioned, unable to see the pouch at this angle. Was it magic? Had it been given by the trees nicer cousins, the bushes? More then likely. Both the Taillow and the Meowth wrinkled their faces in disgust, mostly at the fact that the male Aipom popped the berry into his mouth, and swallowed it without chewing. To them that was a waste of taste, adn a excellent way to choke. <Achilles--you didn't apologize......> <Sir ACHILLES!> The Taillow and Meowth both admonished, the little dragon pretended not to hear him, but from the noises of denial that came from his mouth it was obvious he had heard them just fine.
