<In league with who?> Asked Marissa of Arbori, confused.
When Aubre had started and fallen down, Reggie had managed to stay upright as her arm suddenly slipped free of his. He was surprised by the sudden appearance of the Aipom, but also glad. "This is the perfect opportunity for us." He said, "There are two of them and I have a pair of Girafarigs...unless you'd like to go first, of course, Miss Aubre."
Cynthia was a little annoyed by the Statilee's remarks, but decided to ignore him for the time being, since he had subsided for the time being.
After waiting for a moment for an answer from Aubre, Reggie took her silence to mean that he could go ahead. "Marissa Confusion! Cynthia Tackle!" He cried suddenly, startling the others.
Once they realized a battle was starting, Cynthia ran forward and aimed her head at the nearest Aipom; and Marissa spun about and emitted a nice Confusion attack wave from her tail in their opponent's general direction.

The girl Aipom smiled. <Good day to you too m'am..> she said politely while bowing her head.<League of what?> The brother said, while his sister and him stood there with completely confused faces to Arbori. The sister looked to her older brother while he made a circle by his head, making a note that she was crazy. His sister then shrieked to the hissing. She didn't like cat pokemon. <Hey! Leave my sis alone!> he yelled, stepping in front of his beloved sister. <Wait...go first for what?> his sister asked, quiet and a bit shaky.
They both looked at each other then back to the twin pokemon that were attacking them. <Ahh!> they both screaming before running around in circles like fools, but were doing surprisingly well for dodging the tackle and confusion attacks of the two Girafarig. The siblings slid to a stop, out of breath, at their finished attacks. <W---what--s wro--ong wi-th you--guys..Gah!> the brother said, panting. They did nothing, but they were being attacked! How rude! He picked up the apple with his tail before throwing it at Reggie. He wasn't about to hurt his sister!

Aubre knew the comment of the Aipom's was directed at her. She chose to stay on the ground, her hands in her lap, and her head down. It was a tactic she had learned to make herself look like anything but a threat to pokemon. So most of the time they were not frightened of her, and therefore did not attack her. WHen she felt a pressure on her lap she let out a yep, only to look down and see a very ruffled Taillow, when Aubre had fallen she had been brushed by the ground, which had put her feathers out of place. So now she looked like she had been stuck in a dryer filled with leaves and sand. shaking her head she sent dirt spraying everywhere. <Momma says thak you--I hope.> In all reality she looked like she wanted to run off and never come near the dark forest again, but she had already promised to stick with it.
<The trees...> The Meowth quietly answered, glaring up at the guardians of the forest as he did so. They were obviously guilty of the crime of being affilated with them! anyone who lied inthe forest knew the horrible things the trees did; they scratched you, they kept you away from the berries, and of course they made creepy noises during storms. Clecnhing his fist he hsook it at the trees, and then backed away from the Aipoms and went to sit near Aubre, eyes flickering left to right as he did so. The trees rustled n a cool breeze, they were now planning on dong horrible. I'd like to see 'em try
Aubre's eyes flickered up to Reggie as he asked her to go first. Shaking her head she went to protest either of them attacking. "N--o it-" But by the time she had her treachourous tongue working in sychronization with her mind the Girafirig's were already thundering across the plains. So she closed her mouth, and said nothing, but her eyes flickered to the taillow on her lap, who was boiling at the injusitce. She simply mouthed: 'go.'
With a flap of her red, white, and blue striped wings the little Taillow took to the air. Flying in between the heads of the Girafirig's to gain their attention she landed on the ground. Both of her red eyes were narrowed. <Enough. What did they do to you malady Girafirig's? Why do you not ask for a battle?> Just attacking them out of the blue like that was horribly unfair, it was bullying ,and sneaky conduct. Aubre had been to sscared to speak up but not the Taillow.
Arbori had watched as the two Girifirig's had attacked, and then a tree bomb was thrown overhead at Reggie. he Meowth really disliked conflict but, they had attacked the two AIpoms, and he had to agree that it was sneaky. Mayhaps the trees had been holding the Aipom's hostage until something arrived to pick on them. Lifting his paw from his trainer's knee he loped off and stood in the middle of the opposing sides, both paws spread out. <Ask like the Taillow said--> If they were in league with the trees then at least one of them was his.

As the apple flew through the air Reggie gave a distainful look at the thrower and then raised a hand and caught the projectile mid-air. He studied the piece of fruit for a moment, then rubbed it on his pants and offered the polished result to Aubre with a flourish (by way of appoligy).
Cynthia and Marissa stopped after their initial attacks, and so did not run over the Tailow which now stood in their path. Then the Tailow was joined by the other trainer's Meowth. <Ask? I hadn't thought of that. I wonder why Reggie wants us to attack these Aipom anyway?> Said Cynthia, confused.
Reggie realized that he'd made a mistake in attacking the Aipom, since the girl and her Pokemon seemed determined to not attack them, so he relented. "Sorry," he began, "I didn't realize..." He kind of broke off, not finishing his sentence. He felt a little abashed about the whole situation. He thought she'd be impressed by his boldness, but he now realized that she had other ideas about the situation.

The boy snorted when Reggie caught it. <Showoff...> he muttered a bit distasteful and still bit angry after being attacked. <We didn't need help..> he said, rubbing the back of his head. The girl smiled. <but thank you.> she said while clapping. <You two are very wonderful.> she nodded her thanks to the Meowth and Tailow. She gently pushed her brother's head up and down, to make him nod.
<Do you mind me asking why though?> she said, curious as to why Reggie attacked. <Don't say that!> he brother said quietly. <He might attack again...> he shivered at the thought of being hit. He acted tough but never liked fighting, mostly in front of his sister. The sister smiled at him warmly. <It's alright brother. He said he was sorry.> He sighed. <Still don't trust him..>
She looked at Aubre. <Thank you so much Miss trainer, your pokemon are very lucky to have someone like you!> she turned to Reggie. <But no doubt you must be a good trainer, for your pokemon listen well!> He brother sighed, before making snoring noises. His brother shot him a glare and he laughed nervously. <Ehaha..Sorry..>

Aubre looked up , confused by the offering of the apple . Then like a hesitant animal she reached for it, and grabbed it. Upon doing so she dropped it in her lap. Which surprisingly was the cleanest part of her clothing. "D--o you two wan--t it back?" SHe asked of the sibling Aipoms, er green eyes trying to discern a answer from the babbling, and 'aiping' they were doing. It was a lost cause, therefore the quizical look in her eyes soom diminished, and her gaze was directed at her apple filled lap. I am rather ungry...but they probably wanted to eat this.. Besides with how hungry she was she doubted one apple would help, but her money was mostly for the pokemon.
The Meowth shrugged, as did the Taillow. Neither had experienced very much of the force that drove trainers to attack pokemon. Finally Arbori spoke up: <They wanted to train you?> Whatever the hell that meant. It wasn't as if they could be taught parlor tricks, so he had no idea what they had been trained for. <You're both welcome--I would hate for the trees to get blood like they wanted.> The Meowth had no realized that the trees had set up the battle, and were using the Aipoms, so were hopefully not allied with them in anyway. <Tis no problem--I felt it was the right thing to do.> The Taillow replied honestly, and to her helping others required no gratitude.
Aubre shook her head vehemently, it was none of her concern how others trained their pokemon. What he had done was normal, it had just dredged up memories; horrible ones. Except in these she was in the Aipoms position, and didn't have a apple to throw, or a sister to look to for help. "N--o." No need for him to apologize, she didn't want bitter feelings later. In fact by the set of her head she was the one apologizing--which was normal. She didn't have enough pride to care about losing. Realizing the Aipoms had directed a comment at her she blinked. "Th--ank yo-u." Not that she had any idea what she had said, for all she knew they could have called her a mudsucker. She felt that it required thanks, their faces seemed to make it required.
<So do you guys mind at all for a fair battle?> The Taillow inquired. When she was done her beak went to furiosly repairing the damage the fall her trainer had taken had. Spreading her wings she flapped them , three times, sending dust dri[pping from the yellowish feathers. The Meowth meanwhile was staring suspiciously at the leafy branches around them. No doubt they wanted one of them t o fall into a tree-- <WHere's Achilles?> He asked--both of his black eyes roving about furiously. The first time he had met he had admitted to being friends with the trees, which meant he was helping them plan his demise(Arbori's); which is why he wasn't here. Aterall last time they had met he had said he looked good enough to eat!

Marissa put down her head and began to lick the dust off the little Tailow's back. Cynthia wasn't quite sure what to make of the situation, so remained silent for the time being; although she didn't approve of her sister's actions as she felt that self-grooming would be better for the Tailow's feathers.
The wind rustled around the trees, it was cool though the afternoon sun was high in the sky. Reggie could hear the slight rumbling of his tummy, but knew it was too early for lunch yet.
Reggie just kind of stood there for awhile, then he looked around and noticed that the Statilee was no where around. Perhaps it had fallen behind? Reggie stooped to help Aubre up, his bangs fell into his eyes. He offered a hand. "Say, where's your Statilee?" He queried softly.

The brother grinned wildly. <Keep it, it was just a toy we found ten minuets ago, but you might want to wash it off.> he said. <We've dropped it a few times.> The sister nodded her thanks while keeping a warm, sisterly smile on her face. <Well I do appreciate that the tree's don't get blood either..> she wasn't sure what the Meowth was talking about, but still she had to agree. The last thing she wanted to see was blood, let alone her own.
<Glad to know it felt right.> the brother said, crossing his arms. Now if you took a good look at the twins, the brother had a small black and white checkered wristband while his eyes were brown, unlike the usual black color, while his sister was a bit smaller in size but had a small clip of a heart, that glittered a light red in the sun on her right ear. They could be easily told apart from their human accessories that they found when on a berry hunt with their father a few months ago.
The brother laughed. <Sure thing! But I doubt my sis will fight. She believes in the peace thing.> he said taking one of his arms and moving it around in exaggeration. His sister let out a small 'hmph', but said nothing more about the subject. <Who's Achilles?> she asked, as he brother looked excited. <You first.> he said to the Tailow. [/blockquote]

The Taillow blinked as the rough tongue of the Girafirig scraped over her feathers. <Thank you malady Marissa--but I can do it all by meself.> She may have been a infant but she knew well enough to clean her feathers; otherwise she'd get all itchy. Taking a step away from the foraging tongue of the hooved pokemon she looked around at the assortment of Pokemon. Her red eyes then turned toward her trainer, who at that moment was still sitting on the ground, her shoulders hunched forward, and her hair was all that was moving, it was almost as if she was triyng to disappear from view altogether.
Aubre's eyes flickered up, realizing that the rumbling came from not her stomach but Reggie's. Before she had a chance to say anything she found his bang shadowed face close to hers, and felt strong hands helping her back up to her feet. "Th--ank you." Of course her mind had much preffered the ground, she had offered a smaller target. In her right had she still clutched the apple, which she offered to Reggie; he had risked being injured to catch it after all. "Achi--lles? He wi--ll come if he feel-s li--ke it." The young girl really had no control over what any of her pokemon did. Achille's clasp, and Laan's were broken; and she couldn't refuse anything to her innocent Taillow and easily frightened Meowth.
Glancing out of the corner of her eye seh caught the red gittering light that came from the earring of one Aipom, that one was likely female. The other wore a checkered wristbband, which would be something good to know whne they were in battle. So they were not twins, they kist resembled eachother; it was nice to have a way to tell Pokemon of the same species apart.
The Meowth nodded his oblong head, purring. Directing his gaze at the nearby forest he stuck his tongue out. Almost as if he was taunting the foliage around him. <No..no they won't.>
The Taillow had only been half listening to the conversation, now she took a few step forward and hit the little piece of glass in the pacifist Aipom's ear. Both of her red eyes followed it as it swirled about, a curious 'ooooooooooow' coming from her beak as she observed the panes of red it cast on the green ground. Blinking she heard the male Aipom speak. <I get to battle first--really Sir Aipom?> The baby bird inquired, almost amazed by her luck. All sheh ad done was what her heart had told her!
Then the Taillow looked aorund confused. What now? Then her red eyes rested on the form of her trainer: <Now what--? SHould I ask Momma?> The human girl was currently watching the proceedings with one hollow eye, her hand clutched tightly around the apple she had offered to Reggie.
Arbori shrugged. Now he had just gotten around to answering the question about Achilles: <He laid down at the base of the tree back there , he's in allegiance with them you kn--> As another cool breeze rustled the branches his eyes quickly scanned the clearing, and he let out a hiss. No doubt the little dragon had wanted to keep that a secret. <Achilles is one of our trainer'sother pokemon--her first--but he's vicious and mean>

Cynthia answered the Tailow's question, <Well, usually a trainer calls out their strategy and you try to follow it. But yours seems distracted by something, maybe you need to get her attention somehow?>
Reggie was surprised that the girl was offering him the apple again. He put up a hand, indicating that he wouldn't take it back and said, "No, that's alright, you can keep it. I'm trying to watch my food intake as it is. Apples aren't on today's food agenda, I'm afraid." He smiled, and flicked the bangs out of his eyes with his free hand. He gently pushed his other outstretched hand against the hand Aubre was holding the apple in so it went back towards Aubre--this indicated that it was hers and she could keep it. Then he added, "We should probably wash it off though, here let me." As he said this last part he pulled off his backpack and started rummaging around for his canteen. He then used some of the water to rinse the apple in Aubre's hands. The water was cool and soothing to the touch.
Something just occured to Marissa, suddenly, and she said, <Wait, wasn't your dragon friend wearing bandages? Maybe he's hurt or something. Shouldn't we go looking for him?>

The sister's face softened. <Oh, I do hope he is alright..> she said, looking down to the ground. <Sure, sure, you can battle first! Heheh.> The brother grinned. <But don't call me sir call me Fratello.> The sister nodded. <And I am Sorella.> If these two knew French, then it could be told that Fratello meant 'brother' and Sorella meant 'sister'. They gave themselves the name after they found a language book after a human and their pokemon ran from a battle.
<So, do you mind me asking, why exactly are you all out here?> she said, she stretched her last words. <I'm sorry, I shouldn't ask that. It's rude.> Her brother snorted. <You always think your being rude, Ella, you shouldn't be so self conscious.> She gave him a look. <Well, atleast I'm not always rude Ello.> she inquired. He gasped at his sister before glaring. <I am not!> His sister continued his look. <Yes, you are you brute!> They began an argument with themselves, forgetting about the two trainer and their pokemon for a second as the spat back and forth at each other.

<Oh her attention--let me try it!> Walking so she was in front of Aubre the little flying type began to hop up and down, waving her wings as she did so. Slowly but surely her trainer turned toward her the look in those green eyes alarmed her for a second. But she soon got over it and gestured enthusiactically to the Aipoms, then butter her head forward. Even though they knew she couldn't understand it she added a few words for good measure: <A battle. Momma they said I can go first.> At least she was pretty sure that was what the sister had said.
Aubre nodded her head slowly as Reggie refused the apple. Her nails working to peel it even as he dumped the soothing water over it, which resulted in a rather dirty stream of water. Then with a look of pure satisfaction she bit into it, being sure to shadow her hands and face in anonmity. Hearing the anxious chirps of the Taillow she let her gaze flicker up: "Ba--t-tle?" It was really the tackling motion that gave it away, if it hadn't been for that she would have thought she was just saying the aipom's said hello. The young Taillow clapped her wings together and nodded.
At the suggestion of the Girafirig the Meowth shook his head. ,He wouldmn't like it--besides he's probably happy to be among the wicked trees--where he belongs!> Realizing he might have taken that to far, with the yowling, and spatting, and of course the paw waving. A blush crossed over his tan skin. At the Aipom's statement of kind concern he shook his head. <He's fine--even if he is wearing bandages, he would be angry if we helped him.> Which was true, it was rumored that when Aubre had lifted him onto the nurse's counter he had almost ripped her hand off.
<Thanks for letting me battle Si--Fratello.> The Taillow stated, sweeping her body in a low bow. As the sister introduced herself she smiled. <I am sure Achilles thanks you for your concern kind lady Sorella!> Well not that he would, but hopefully these two didn't meet the old grump, he was mean to anyone, and anything. Although he called it being honest. The Taillow felt it was bullying. <Since you invited me..you can go first...> Upon hearing the question she began to open her mouth to answer, and was interrupted by Arbori.
<We came out here to--train? But Aubre came out here to cry.> Realizing they might not have figured out who Aubre was he pointed one white claw to the shrunken mass that was his trainer. Not that he had any idea what she was crying about, she had her companions, and great pokemon, he didn't see a reason to cry. Maybe what the trees had done to her pained her still. ,I do not tink it was a rude question at all--and yo-> Glancing around he hissed at the rustling branches. Then he continued. <can ask the Girafirig's, but I think it was the same reason for them as well.>

<Well, if you're sure about your dragon friend...> Said Marissa, doubtfully.
<It's very nice to meet you both.> Said Cynthia, formally, after the Aipoms introduced themselves, <I'm Cynthia and this is my twin sister, Marissa.>
<Hi!> said Marissa, giving a little wave and smiling.
When the Tailow started signaling them, Reggie was also confused at first, but when Aubre mentioned the word battle it started to dawn on him what was going on. "So they've talked it out and are willing to battle your Tailow?" He asked simply. He was glad she'd started eating the apple, it made him feel good inside somehow. Also, she was rather thin and looked like she could use a good meal or two under her belt.
Then he called his Girafarigs over and when they arrived at his side his hands went on both as they stood on either side of him. His hands rested on each Girafarig's withers. He didn't want them to get in the way. <We'll wait over there.> Called Marissa as they left the 'field of battle'.

Fratello blinked a few times as the Tailow said 'battle' to her trainer. <Oh! Right!> he said, doing a half turn to the bird. Sorella blinked before letting out a small huff, annoyed that her older brother forgot about her. <Anyway, I do hope he is alright..> she mumbled, still a bit flustered by her brother's eagerness to engage in fighting. The brute....
<Well sure then I'll go.> He waited until Reggie and his pokemon were gone. He took a deep breath. <Here we go!> he yelled, before rushing in for a scratch. His sister cheered for her brother as he darted at the small bird.

The Meowth and Taillow both nodded , to comfort the doubts of Marissa. <He's fine.> The young Meowth isaid; just a miniscule amount of bitterness creeping into the statement. It made it sound like he was upset that Achilles was fine; but in reality he was just upset that the evil little dragon was out of sight; more then likely planning to sick the trees on him at the greatest possible moment. Unlike the Taillow he didn't dislike Achilles and his mouth; but he did dislike the things he did when left alone. <Malady Marissa he is fine--no doubt he wouuld be angered if you showed this concern in front of him--he'd feel weak.> The Taillow repeated her earlier sentiments, this time sternly, not harshly, but to make sure that the Girafirig understood it was not a thing to say; especially when Achilles could be listening in.
Aubre lifted the apple to her mouth; taking another bite, sending warm juice down her chin, and hands. Then she nodded. Letting her hand fall to her side she spoke to the purple simians: "Ai--poms woul--d it be al--right if we sw-itched her out- for his girafir-igs befor-e she take--s to much damage?" After all the level six Aipom could easily handle the three babies, have a rest, and allow his sister to deal with Arbori; if she chose to anyway. Besides it was shown that if a babes' first battle was a bad one they were likely to be afraid to battle. That had been a basic in "RAISING POKEMON 101". Besides it would save them a trip to the pokemon center; which Aubre didn't want to go through again. No doubt the nurse at Barkwish hated her, and it had spread that her Pokemon were vicious; she didn't want odd glances paving her way to heal her pokemon.
The Taillow nodded. <Thank you--miss Sorella can you move--I am sure your brother wants room--to...> Well she had little idea what was going on, so she didn't know how to finish the sentence above. <Arbori--go stand next to momma.> The Meowth had been standing awkwardly in the middle of the battlefield, his eyes frantically moving to and fro. At the order from the Taillow he blushed and loped off. Soon he was seated behind Aubre, and looking at the battle around her stick legs.
The Taillow was amazed as the Aipom burst toward her, her eyes zoomed backward towards her 'momma as she looked for assistance. Yet the girl seemed oblivious to the battle, her head down, and one of her hands stuck in the front pocket of her hoody. Turning back towards the battle she watched as the quick moving Aipom moved forward; if Aubre didn't say anything soon this wouldn't last long! "Gro--wl" The quiet whisper echoed across the field. It was soon followed with another order. "Jum- to- the lef-t." The Perplexed Taillow did so. Her red eyes watchig as the Aipom brushed by her. "Now pe-ck at hi-s tail." Knowing that her beak was used for pecking she jumped forward and drove her head down where she had last seen the hand tipped tail. She hoped she didn't hurt him!
Aubre watched, her current positioning alotting for a view of the feet alone. Underneath her hood she was smiling, tears streaming down her face. From her viewpoint as a trainer the Taillow was doing very well--but she wasn't trainer any long; she was just a shy, unsociable girl, who happened to be training pokemon to help her get back home. Although she had to admit this WAS rather fun; as long as no one was hurt to badly. (610)
