Name: Trace Tringham
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Hometown: Lavender Town, East Kanto
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Personality: Trying to describe Trace properly can be a tricky task; there are many different sides to his personality. The most prominent is probably the "IloveeverybodyandthewholeworldisGREAT!!" side, though, which tends to drive the more mellow people he knows crazy. He is a very loving person, even willing to offer people he doesn't like a hand up when they need it. His friends come first, however. If even the slightest hint of unhappiness is present in their voice or on their features, he'll do everything in his power to cheer them up. Sometimes it works, other times...things only get worse. When he messes up and makes the situation worse than it originally was, you'll probably see the other side of his personality...
There are those rare times when he's actually calm and mellow himself, even to the point of being depressing. The phrase you'll probably hear most from him when he's like this is "being chipper requires too much energy." Not much changes about his philosophies on life, just his general attitude towards it. He won't be as easily excitable, and could even kill the mood of other excited people. Typically this little mood swing will only come about when it's been awhile since he's met someone new. Trace thrives on change; if there isn't enough of it, he grows bored. That's why he became a "professional" traveler in the first place.
He views Pokemon the same way he views people; each one is different, so trying to lump them all into one group is unfair. Each of his Pokemon under his care likes to be treated differently, but they all dislike neglect, which makes keeping them happy difficult at times. Still, he's managed it so far, and this has subsequently made him a better caregiver for both Pokemon and people. When traveling in groups of other people he tends to get relied on the most, and is usually made the unofficial leader when there isn't someone else who wants or is better suited for the position.
He is fairly intelligent, almost genius level, but he doesn't show it often. He prefers people think he's only moderately smart; makes life easier for everyone. It's also easier to catch opponent's by surprise that way. He's almost always got a plan and an opinion, but will only share it if absolutely necessary.
He doesn't like flying, which is why he doesn't carry any Flying-type Pokemon. This could be attributed to his fear of heights, but he prefers to say "You don't see as many of the beautiful things in this world if you're flying over them instead of walking beside them." The truth behind the matter is probably a mix of the two.
I guess a good way to describe his general disposition (for those familiar with such terms, anyway) is probably Neutral Good.
Hobbies: Traveling, TM/HM Collecting, Popular Culture
Physical Appearance: Ever tall and lanky, even since childhood, little about his body has changed, even as he approaches adulthood. Well, except for the obvious things that change during puberty. But I won't get into all that. As I said, he is tall. Some six feet tall, with four inches left to spare. He's not terribly muscular; he doesn't do a lot of working out. But he does get plenty of exercise, so he doesn't have a lot of fat, either. His arms are long and have plenty of reach, and his legs are limber and able to carry him at great speeds (if he ever needed to go faster than 'walk', which isn't often).
His clothing is all carefully chosen for comfort and durability; his personal sense of style comes in a close second. A thick, brown, hooded jacket with a fleece lining covers his torso at all times; he'll only take it off when sleeping or when indoors during hot weather. Many people call him crazy for wearing it even during the heat of summer, but he happily ignores those people. He's convinced himself that the jacket helps keep him cool in the heat. Under the jacket will usually lay a plain t-shirt, usually a white, orange, or red color. The red shirt has pocket on the chest, and the orange short has a hole in the collar. No one has ever seen him wear anything other than denim jeans on his legs, though these too he has different colors of. Pale blue, dark blue, and black. All of his jeans (except for the black pair) have many pockets, though he doesn't make much use of these pockets most of the time. His Go-Goggles remain draped around his neck most of the time, unless their strap starts to irritate his neck. Then he'll put them into his satchel. His right hand is wrapped tightly in a few strips of bandages, for two reasons: One, he simply enjoys the look, and two, Wolx likes to entertain himself by chewing on Trace's hand. The bandages help soften the mild pain.
His satchel is black, with the few badges and ribbons for various things he's earned sewn onto the flap. His passion doesn't lie in contests, though, and he isn't crazy about battling, so the number of these awards is small. The satchel holds a few reference books inside, as well as a few personal items and whatever other things he's gathered along his journey. A case strapped to the side of his satchel holds all the Technical and Hidden Machines he's gathered, and on the other side his portable and durable television is held by a thick leather strap.
Pokemon:
Nickname: Dirge
Species: Dusknoir
Gender: Male
Level: 48
Personality: Trace's first Pokemon and closest companion, Dirge is quite the mystery to most folks. Very little of his time is spent inside a Pokeball, yet very few people realize when he's around; Dirge enjoys spending his time invisible unless absolutely necessary for him to be seen, like when he gets used in a battle. Trace has always felt Dirge's ability to vanish in such a way was an unfair advantage, so he doesn't allow it. Dirge isn't a fan of battling anyway, and much prefers contests or games of skill to shows of force necessary in battles. He loves playing board games, and has yet to lose a game of checkers to Trace. Despite disliking battles the way he does, he's still a very able combatant, with a wide array of techniques at his disposal to slow down and finish off his opponents. His demeanor is usually cold and aloof, and can use this to his advantage to intimidate his opponents, able to use his people's legacy as the Grim Reaper among Pokemon to frighten lesser Pokemon into submission. He's very protective and possessive of Trace, refusing to follow any other trainer's orders, and only reluctantly allows Trace to come in contact with other Pokemon.
Attacks:
Nickname: Urzu
Species: Slaking
Gender: Male
Level: 50
Personality: Urzu is a Slaking. Pure and simple. Slothful and gluttonous, but monsterously powerful. Trace doesn't use him for much beyond battling or destroying obstacles in his path, which is fine with Urzu. He doesn't like doing much else. Slaking, remember? There is something that can be said about his almost lack of personality, though; his dull eyes betray a deeper soul, similar to his trainer. He has an intelligence, a wisdom most wouldn't guess from him. He makes for an excellent listener, the one the rest of Trace's Pokemon go to when they have problems that need solving. On very rare occasions he'll offer his insight, which is usually quite helpful. But he'll only talk when what he believes is what he KNOWS is right. In short, he's a contradiction. His battle style is high risk, high return; everything else is treated with utmost caution and care.
Attacks:
Nickname: Boggle
Species: Swampert
Gender: Male
Level: 43
Personality: Boggle is a friendly creature, far more outgoing than either Dirge or Urzu. He has very few reservations and is more than happy to do the things his team mates wouldn't dare do for the sake of a good laugh. His movements are fluid and unpredictable, almost drunken in nature, as though he'd seen a few too many martial arts movies. This has lead to quite a few victories in battle, but despite this Trace uses him more for transport across water than anything else. He is an adept swimmer, of course, and can travel quickly even through muddy areas. When he's outnumbered in a fight, Trace likes using Boggle to surprise his opponents by having Boggle hide in swampy or areas that are otherwise difficult to see in and covertly fire ranged attacks, usually Mud Bombs.
Attacks:
Nickname: Wolx
Species: Houndoom
Level: 48
Personality: Trace got Wolx when he was just a Houndour pup, still very new to the world. Almost the opposite of Shimmer, he's smart mouthed and rude most all of the time and could care very little for anyone other than those he's forced into direct contact with on a daily basis. Which isn't to say he doesn't have a caring side, he just expresses it differently. He often considers himself the alpha male of their little 'pack', equal in rank to Trace himself, claiming it is his duty to protect the others. He and Shimmer argue and fight like siblings almost constantly, but (strangely enough) he and Dirge get along quite well. The two enjoy just laying around together, usually around Trace. The only other Pokemon they'll tolerate being close to him is...each other. He also enjoys passing the time by nibbling on people's fingers.
Attacks:
Nickname:Shimmer
Species: Ampharos
Gender: Female
Level: 32
Personality: Probably the cheeriest and most talkative member of the group (by far), Shimmer almost didn't make the team. Trace caught her as a Mareep quite some time ago, just long enough to help him see in a dark cave. Once they were past the area he had every intention of releasing her back into the wild (Mareep weren't quite his taste, if you hadn't noticed by looking at the other Pokemon he keeps), but after seeing how attracted Shimmer had grown to Urzu, he didn't have it in him to separate the two. She's the youngest out of the four, and not terribly powerful yet, but she is quite useful for making it through darkened areas. She takes it upon herself to care for the group when Trace is otherwise unable to, mothering the other three Pokemon and (somehow) making meals for everyone with those flipper-like hands of hers. Very polite and courteous when she is put in charge of something, but will behave more like a child (whiny and impulsive) the rest of the time.

History: Trace grew up with his mother and father in their somewhat small home in the somewhat small town of Lavender in the anything-but-small Kanto region. He grew up in relative comfort; his mother was a florist, and after the Pokemon Tower was successfully converted into a radio station, his father found a job there as a DJ. The ghosts that used to inhabit the tower weren't pleased with the change, however, and it took quite some time to get the restless spirits calmed again. Many thanks were given to Mr. Fuji who did a lot of the work becalming the enraged ghosts with the construction of his shrine. Curious about the event, young Trace visited the shrine to speak with the man inside. He and Fuji talked for many hours, teaching Trace more about the love and respect all creatures deserved. He was enthralled by the tales told to him of Fuji's days as a breeder, and visited every day after that to hear and learn more. Soon he was accepted as Fuji's apprentice, learning to properly feed, heal, and otherwise care for all manner of Pokemon.
Years later, Trace decided to take all the things he'd learned out on the road. So he set out on a journey of his own, not unlike many young children before him, but he did not strive for strength or adventure. He sought wisdom and experience, the kind of experience one can only get while traveling. He'd become a great healer, a breeder, and then return home with the stories of his travels to tell to his children and their children. Start a clinic...start a family...yeah...that sounded really good to him. And so his travels began, across a few other regions, meeting people and seeing things he never could have imagined if he'd stayed back in Lavender. Out of curiosity (and as a result of a few random events), he did end up challenging a few Gyms and entering a few contests. But he wasn't terribly talented at either, and only succeeded a small number of times. He has become enemies with a few of the international crime syndicates a few people around the world are familiar with, but hasn't made it his life's goal to stop their operations. He only fights back when it's convenient for him. He hasn't been troubled by their kind in quite some time, however, and he has no interest in stirring up further trouble.
More recently he arrived in the Remoor region after deciding his travels in another, smaller nearby country were through. He can occasionally be seen wandering one of the routes or relaxing in one of the towns, always scribbling and writing away in one of his journals, mailing one back home once it was full for safe keeping. He is sympathetic with new trainers, and will often give them small gifts or words of advice to help their journey along. Or, at the very least, he'll share a few of his stories or listen to one of theirs while they sit around a campfire. Sometimes people need a good friend more than a rare move or a powerful Pokemon, you know?
