Beginning his journey for the first time with a pokemon, Lakota and Grista started to head to the next town. What ever one that was. He wanted to be many things. A pokemon trainer, master, breeder, contester .... There was so many things, and who knew. Maybe after he had beaten the elite four and the champion, he would become a ranger! That would be cool. A wide smile was on his face and he held Grista closer. "This is going to be great!" He said cheerfully.
Grista held his head up high, know exactly what his trainer was thinking. << You're right! >>
By the look on his friends face, he could tell that Grista wanted to do the same. "But we should first start by getting more pokemon, and training harder every day, huh?" He asked, looking down at the pokemon who had now dropped out of his arms and face him from the ground.
<< Then lets hurry! I want to be stronger and have fun doing it as well! >> He barked, speaking his name to Lakota's ears.
Lakota looked at the sky now, his arms in a position that looked like he was thinking in deep thought. "Let's see. We should most likely obtain one of each type. Like a Espeon, so that we can get close and be connected psychicly. Or a Houndour, a pokemon that is both fire and dark." He said than looked down at Grista.
The red, growlithe looking pokemon looked at him, head tilted slightly, as though confused about what he was talking about. Replace him? Yeah right.
Lakota smiled. "But I wont forget about you. You'll always be my favorite." He said, knealing down to pet the fire type pokemon, who seemed content at his trainers soft touch. The bushes rustled slightly and he jumped when a Pokemon appeared out of them.
Grist acted quickly and stood between his trainer and the mysterious pokemon, growling in case it was of a threat. He would not allow any harm to come across his trainer, his partner, his loyal and trustworthy friend.

The creature was about the height of Lakota's waist, with two triangular ears mounted on its long, if not rather flat head. On the small of its back two diamond shaped wings beat slowly, their teal centers allowing sunlight to shine through. Attatched to its rear was a long fleshy tail, the end tipped in a side to side, smaller version of its slowly moving wings. A pair of intelligent, wide, and somewhat curious eyes glanced up at the trainer, their brown iris' accented by speckles of green. Currently it was sitting on its rear, its tail curling out from underneath it. It's two front hooves were placed on the ground.
Now that his curiousity was satiisfied the little male Tapiir turned toward the aggressively stanced Grusta. <Oh--sorry if I scared you--> The tone of his voice lacked any kind of embarassment, regret, or remorse. Really what it said was nothing more then a polite comment, with no real thoughts behind it. Raising back up to all fours the Tapiir kicked the bush with a rear hoove. <Stupid plant got in my way---I couldn't even see you two.> What? No explanation as to why the thing had fallen through the bush? They were supposed to be the graceful, serene Ponyta of the skies, quiet and wonderful to behold. So he hadn't been that clutzy right? To trip and fall over a bush double his height? wrong.
This Tapiir was known for his insufferable lack of emoion, and regret. If that hadn't been enough it was said he was the clutziest Tapiir that ever existed, on land anyway.
The things tail flickered behind him as he turned and began walking down the path towards Vhenkil. <Well you guys were a waste of my time, and easily scared by the looks of it. Farewell.> Aiming a disdainful grunt in the direction of the riled rista the Tapiie continued his slow plodding walk down the path, waiting for the trees to fall back into a clearing so he had room to take off. Getting scratched by branches was much less then enjoyable. It hurt, and left his wodnerful hide all bloody and sweaty.

Lakota pulled out his pokedex, the startle of the pokemon was wearing off. As he checked the name and info, he smiled in delight. "Well, then." He whispered. "A flying type and possibly a normal type too?" He turned over to Grista and said, "Lets go after it." Standing up and running off to ask the Tapiir. It was a rare pokemon and this was a one in a chance life time.
Grista followed his trainer, running faster than the other, he stopped infront of the Tapiir. <<Wait!>> He barked. Hopefully it would be willing enough to listen. <<We were startled is all. He didn't expect it to happen, seeing as how it was quite sudden.>>
Lakota, who was standing behind the new pokemon, said quickly, "At least let me try to catch you or something. I'm just starting out." He said. "It would be a good experiance for me and my Grista." A smile played excitedly on his lips and his eyes were full of kindness.
Grista tilted his head, wondering what the pokemon would say, what Tapiir would say, and what Lakota's out come with the Tapiir if it agreed would be. {Hopefully a good one.} It thought as it waited silently, sitting down, his fluffy curled tail unravled to his side, to be comfortable. They had to become stronger if they wanted to make all of theirs dreams come true.
Then Grista thought about it. He could preasued him if he could. <<Were going to try and fight all the gym leaders and then the elite four.>> He said with a smile, tail back behind his body, curled and wagging. <<We are trying to get stronger than what we are now. And besides, after that we are going to do contest and stuff like that and try to win doing it as well.>> He finished.
Lakota was not quite sure what his fellow team mate had just said, but he was thankfull that he had been there to help him out. He walked over to Grista, knealing down to pat the pokemon on the head gently and picked him up, turning his attention back to Tapiir. "So, what do you say?" He asked, a warm smile on his face.

The Tapiir rolled its eyes as the Grista barked, more like commanded that he wait. <It is not my fault that you can't keep up.> The fact that he stopped walking while saying this made the above comment more then a bit useless. Realizing that he had in fact complied with the creatures orders he picked up the pace, his hooves causing little poofs of dust to raise from the ground as he kept walking forward, occasionally flicking a ear back to better funnel in what one of the two idiots said. When they spoke, but he continued walking at a quick pace.
A clearing ahead called to him, his wings began pulling at his muscles, they wanted him up, up and away. Not down here and being annoyed the hell out of.
Then the stupid little dog was seated in front of him, its furred tail curled around its hindquarters. Stopping he snapped his raised hoof to the ground, and snorted. Hot steam flowed from his nostrils. <That's nice. Now can you please remove yourself from my path?> The Tapiir mumbled, not the least bit interested in what the Grista had to say. <Asking? Well this is new. If I say no?> The little horse pokemon inquired boldly, annoyance and impaitence lining his loud whinnies.
These two were annoying, and persistent. Much like telemarketers, are those who worked at car dealerships.
<For being a baby and a silly human, you have some big plans. Do you even know how to get OUT of the forest? Do you even have any plans about winning contests?> Of course they had a map, but there were a lot of paths twining in and out of the deceptively named "plains". No doubt they'd get lost, with their IQs combined he was surprised they made it out of Barkwish. No doubt the one street had left them milling about for hours. The contests were not necessarily good for trainers. It was obvious these two dreamers hadn't thought outside their delusion bubble.
The Tapiir then turned toward the human, his big wide eyes seeming to be full of innocence and curiousity. Of course this was what it SEEMED not how it was. <I say the pair of you are extremely annoying, and persistent.> His tail scooped up and he attempted to step around the morons.

Lakota frowned, his shoulders slumped. This was going to be hard to do, even worse to convince him. He leaned against a tree, letting out a deep breathe, and pressed his fingers to his forehead. "This is going to be tough Grista ...." He whispered, none of the two pokemon able to hear him. He could tell that Grista was having troubles, seeing as how the two were having a long conversation.
Grista gave the Tapiir a look of determination. << No. I wont. >> He growled. << What does it take for you to actually listen!? You arrogent, good for nothing, smelly cow! >> He said. If his plan worked into making it mad enough to wanna fight him, than he could weaken it just enough for Lakota to throw a pokeball at it and catch it.
Lakota looked at Grista, a curious look on his face. Why was his pokemon acting this way? What was he doing? Many things ran through his head, wondering what he was doing but he knew that he would have to trust him. He was his partner and if they wanted to make themselves strong, so trust was one of the most needed things. He had to try. If he didn't, they would never succeed. He had to be like Grista. Strong and trying.
Grista narrowed his eyes, getting up and taking a fighting stance. He wasn't sure what he could do, but he had to try. His moves weren't that good, but he could try the least. << The only option that you have is to fight! Or you would be a coward for running away! >> He growled.
"Alright Grista! Lets do this! Peck attack! And quick!" He hollared, his soft and kind expression was now that of great determination and faith in Grista. He quickly reached into his coat pocket and grabbed out small red pokeball, getting ready for the right moment to catch it.
Grista launched forward, his maw pointed in the direction of the Tapiir. He hoped that he wouldn't miss and he had great confidence that he wouldn't as well. But that was up to the future that would be here soon, very soon.

<Of course you won't, After all that wouldn't look very good in front of your master.> The Tapiir stated, shooing the obstacle away with one of his hooves. This simple action unbalanced him, and he stumbled a step to the right. Of course soon he was back to standing stright, his nostrils still flared. <I was listening--and I am not a cow.> The Tapiir responded, staring down at the Grista as if he was the stupidest thing on earth. Oddly enough the insult hadn't seen to do its trick, to the Tapiir it was showing how obviously stupid the little canid was.
The human was staring into space, cotemplating whatever stupid idea had flown into his head.
The horse like pokemon watched as the Grista tensed, obviously readying himself for battle. Then he taunted the Tapiir once again, the nerve~! Of course it didn't seem to phase the Tapiir, lifing a foot he turned to walk away, taking the time to hit the Grista woth: <What makes you think being a coward is an insult--it's much better runnign away, then getting beaten by a stronger pokemon because I was being brave.> His tail flicked in time with his shake of admonishment, then he continued.
Of course the two idiots didn't know when to quit. A order was called, and the sound of claws against grass was heard as te Grista tried to attack the Tapiir. The clearing was just up ahead, not long now.
The little ball of fur was currently more important though. It hurtled at him like a torpedo, and rearing up on his hind legs, the Tapirr pumped his wings and jumped, allowing the Grista to fly underneath him. Timing it about when the Grista's mid section would pass under his hindlegs he let himself drop, hoping to stomp the annying little runt into the ground. This little escapade had allowed him to get closer to the clearing, with a loud whinny he picked up speed, if he could get into the air---well he wouldn't have to worry about this anymore!
If worse came to worse well he culd blind the Grista with sand attack, tackle and disappear. (Start counting words)[/size]

Grista growled once more, his orange fur stood on end. << He is not my master! He is my trainer and my friend! >> He yapped. Ever since the first day that him and Lakota had met, Grista knew that he was going to be a good friend. Unlike many pokemon with trainers, he was given freedom from the cramped space of a pokeball. It was a good sign that had let Grista know that he trusted him. But when hooves came crashing into his side, Grista flew suddenly and hit a tree.
"Grista!" Lakota cried. Not good. With only one thought in mind to try a get it to stay a bit more until Grista was back up again, Lakota threw the pokeball with a swift arm, making sure that the distance was good enough for the pokeball to hit the flying and normal type pokemon. He didn't care to see if it would hit Tapiir, but he rushed to Grista instead, pulling out a potion for the young pokemon. "Dont worry." He said, craddling the pokemon in his arms. "You'll be okay now."
Grista payed no attention and looked to were Tapiir was heading for the meadow. Without caring for the potion, though some had already been sprayed on, he scrambled out of the boys arms and swiftly ran to the pokemon. << Come back here you cow! >> He howled, slowly catching up with the pokemon, trying to subside the pain that he felt.
Lakota watched with horror. What was Grista doing? Was he willing enough to kill himself just to make Lakota happy? "Grista! Wait! Your not well enough!" But he knew that his desperate please would not help. He scrambled up to his feet and raced after both pokemon, another pokeball in his hand, incase the first had not worked.
Grista, wether Lakota said to or not, used peck again once he caught up, watching the pokeball that was thrown a minute ago slowly start to land. They mighth actuallly get it this time. Grista, side by side with Tapiir, made a finishing blow to Tapiir's side, hoping the strike would hurt, even when the 'cow' as he called him, would wake in the morning to feel excrutiating pain.

Not very high without assistance of the wind or trees--but yes they can fly a bit)
<If he's your friend why is he putting you in danger you idiotic little mutt? Friends do not do that normally.> The Tapiir interrogated, staring down at the bristling ball of fur. It was very easy to anger, and a bit of fun to fan the flames of its volatile temper. The speech had alotted the time the Tapiir had needed to send the yappy little thing crashing into a tree, thrusting his nose up into the air he continued galloping off, watching with dismay as the human attempted to heal the pup with a spritz of potion.
Oddly enough the Grista didn't stand for it and was soon after him again.
The lead the horse pokemon had was swallowed up, much like he was, when the pokeball struck. A redlight enveloped his pwoerful muscular limbs and he was pulled into a sphere of darkness, raising up to his hind legs he smashed into the side of the Pokeball. The little sphere barely ad time to close before it was ripped apart byy a larg e brown hoof, the Tapiir swept the ball out of the way with his tail, where it landed whole next to a smooth barked tree.
<I already told you--I am no cow--are you that daft?> The wind tore the words into fragments as the Tapiir tried to regain his healthy lead again. Which was rather hard with the Grista sticking behind him like that, all he needed was a few more feet.
The peck slammed into the Tapiir's rear legs, buckling it, and shcoking the equine pokemon. With a loud whinny the Tapiir's tail lashed out at the pain source, and he pivoted on his back legs. Thrusting his head forward, he attempted tos end it flying away. Fires had been kindled in the Pokemon's eyes, and it was pissed.
One good thing was that the Grista's attack had moved him away from the Pokeball trajectory, making it miss by a good foot.
Then the Tapiir remembered the air was calling, and took off again, casting angry glances at the Grista every so often. For good measure he swatted a clod of dirt at the tailing Pokemon. [/blockquote]

Lakota threw another pokeball, hopefully this time it would stay. He looked over at Grist who seemed very determined once again. He wanted to stop him but knew that he couldn't. Grista would most likely want him happy and would keep going. If this one pokeball didn't work again, than he would have to give up. One because Grista could be killed. And two because he was running low on pokeballs. "Grista, a couple more pecks and we are done!" He called out.
Grista heard him but did not respond that he had, still running with the Tapiir, he tried to ram his muzzle into the pokemon's side again. Then was his chance where he ran ahead of the pokemon and ran under it, using peck on more time only on its hind leg. If he could take it out, Tapiir would surely fall.
Lakota, nearly out of breathe, kept running and smiled at Grista's last move. It was quite clever and he would have to think about using the move in a pokemon battle. Trying to catch up, with one last swing of his arm, he threw the pokeball and stopped running, falling to the ground and catching his breathe as the ball landed to Tapiir. If it would catch it, he didn't know. But he had to atleadst try. The chance of catching it could have only came one in a life time ya know.
Grista, done with his attacks and fighting now, hurried over to Lakota. He could feel his bodie burning up but didn't care. He licked his trainers cheek and sat down, even when his side was hurting he had no care. He looked over his shoulder and waited to see if they would actually catch this Tapiir. Hopefully. He prayed that they would for Lakota's sake. The poor trainer seemed like he was to out of breathe to move.

(The pokeballs are fine when they break..you can gather them back up.--and he hasn't been dehealthed enough to be caught.)
This pokeball was why off course, and hit a tree some 10 feet to the right of the Tapiir, snorting the horse pokemon turned to Lakota. <Someone needs to learn how to aim.> The bored tone, made the fact that it was a insult very obvious. If the stonefaced, raised eyebrow expression, and the grin flckering across the Pokemon's muzzle didn't. Of course as he was turned the other way, the face was not visible. Stomping a hoof down he pumped his wings, sendign another cloud of dirt and grit flying towards the trailing mutt. Of course this encounter lost him the lead he had gained in its entirey, much to the Tapiir's annoyance.
Then the annoying thing was underneath him, sending him off kilter with two attacks. One to the same hind leg he had hit before, and the other to a different limb, but this horse was not going down without a fight, kicking out at the dog he fell onto his side, and with a lot of useless wallowing ended up on his back, Then he was back up again, winded, and obviously angry. A cloud of hot air escaped through his flared nostrils as he glared at the Grista.
Then the Pokeball slammed into his tan furred shoulder, and he disappeared in a burst of redlight. It was the same black landscape as before, no landmarks to show a difference between one place and another, but ahead was the light, and his way out.
Tossing his head the Tapiir thundered toward the cresecent of light, his hooves echoing loudly in the open space.
Outside the ball shook, once, twice--and--
It popped open the Tapiir coming to life once again, stomping his hoof on the ground he narrowed his eye at the pair. <I so win...> The horse gasped, kicking the pokeball back toward the pair. Both of his legs hurt, and he was slicked in sweat, his breathing was gaspy, and a tad erratic. But in his eyes he had beaten the Grista, without even properly fighting.

Lakota saw the pokemon's weakness in a flash and he looked at Grista, running to pick up the two pokeballs that he had made an attempt with to catch the Tapiir. He looked over at Grista. "New plan. Keep hitting the same spots. It looks like its working." He said, reading the first pokeball that he first used.
Grista nodded and ran up to it once again, aiming the at the same spots he had hit with peck. He was quick, his wings beating while he ran. He was picking up speed this way, and hurried up and after the Tapiir. << Not yets you haven't! >> He growled, eyes glaring at the horse like pokemon. << You're going down and I'm gonna make sure of it! >> He howled.
Lakota, watching as his first pokemon, though injured still, got ready to attack the Tapiir again. He would keep throwing at pokeball every now and then, only to make sure he didn't miss this pokemon. Once Grista took it out, he would try to catch it again, and if it didn't work, he would keep using the same strategy. They were so close to catching it last time, he knew that they could do this. He wasn't about to give up. That's what being a trainer was all about.
Even with some bits of the cloud of dust flying out at him, he kept going, not really caring. Muzzle glowing with a strange white light and growing a little lonnger than ussual, Grista aimed for Tapiir's hind quarter, landed, aimed for the leg on the other side, and then aimed for the other hind leg. He quickly got out of the way, hoping with all his might that he hadn't missed.
Lakota, standing up and regaining his balance, quickly threw the pokeball once again. His aim was not off this time, and he narrowed his eyes, hoping that he did not miss it. He was still out of breathe, and he couldn't stop breathing so hard. His whole bodie was sweating, he could feel it, and his silver bangs were wet with sweat. He quickly wipped it away with one of the clothed metal plates on his arm. He was not giving up, not backing down from this fight.

The Tapiir easily avoided the first of the two pecks, lifting up his leg, and pulling it out of reach of the Grista's "beak". Then the thing slammed into his other leg, with a snort the Tapiir turned on the little canine, shaking his head, and pawing the ground with a very tired hoof. Then he thundered forward, hoping to trample the godforsaken annoyance under his hooves, even if he didn't weigh much, his weight still would cause a couple of bruises.
It seemed escape wasn't a feasible option, the stupid people would just keep tailing him, and picking at him. So it seemed he would have to use the last of his energy to fight back, after all running took more energy then quick charges.
Then the stupid mutt tried it again, and forced the Tapiir to sidestep to avoid being hit. No longer was he runing, with a lash of his heavy tail he hoped to send the stupid Grista flying! This hurts--DAMN DOG! The pony pokemon thought to himself, his anger boiling right under the surface.
Then the Pokeball sailed through the air, and thunked on his sweat soaked forhead. Red surrounded him, and the same scenario repeated as before, with a much different result.
One.
Two.
Three.
DING!
Success.

As Grista proudly lifted his head when he made the finishing move, but was not paying attention when Tapiir's tail swooped down onto him, knocking against yet another tree. This time, he almost fainted, but held himself up. He growled and watched as the pokeball dinged. hoping that this battle would be over. And finally, it stopped and the Tapiir was caught. Grista sighed, and fell to the ground. He didn't faint, but was extremely tired. << Finally .... We caught him ..... >>
Lakota ran to get the pokeball, a smile on his face, then he hurried over to Grista, the poor pokemon was most likey nearly dead or fainted at least. Craddling the poor fire pokemon in his arms, he hugged him softly, and whispered in the weak Grista's ear, "I'm sorry. You risked your life but everything will be fine now. We got him and now we are going strait to a pokemon center." He stood, holding the pokemon closely, and walked out of the forest, stairing at the plains and the town just below.
Grista licked his trainer's chin, letting him know that he was just fine. Though, in all reality, he knew he wasn't. He nuzzled into Lakota's jacket, not caring about the buckles and such. But it felt nice non the less, and he soon fell asleep.
Lakota smiled down at his sleeping friend and faced the pokeball in his hand towards the city. "We need your help Tapiir." He said and watched as a red light glowed from the pokeball to the ground, letting the pokemon out.
Tapiir looked at Lakota, respect in his eyes now because he was caught. But when he looked at Grista, he glared at the pokemon and turned away from the fire canine.
Lakota frowned, knowing that it was going to be quite difficult to get Tapiir to like Grista. "Tapiir, please, I need you to help Grista, and me. Let me ride on your back to the next town, please." He pleaded. "I would be gratefull."
Tapiir snorted for a moment and stomped his hooves. << I aint helping out that runt. >> He whinnied, flapping his small wings. But when the trainer said that it was for him also, he thought about the diccission and nodded. << Fine. >> He said and stepped up to Lakota, allowing the trainer to climb on his back. When Lakota gave the okay, Tapiir galloped away, through the plains and to the town below.
