The quote was stuck inside Sky's head; the one from Alice in Wonderland, a book that she thought abstract and meaningful at the same time. She could repeat the quote in there over and over again, always pondering what it would mean every time she thought about it. It was actually quite weird that she was thinking about a classic quote when she was about to leave her house to go obtain her first Pokémon. It was probably because she packed the darn book in her pack; you never knew when you might be wanting to read something before one goes to sleep. Sky assembled her backpack, finally, and looked at herself in the mirror. Her purple hair was long down behind; one could notice that she had brushed it before leaving, however useless that might have seemed. Satisfied with what she was leaving with, Sky rushed down from her room and to the front door.
"Bye Dad!" she called out as she walked out, "I promise I'll write!" of course, that all depended on whether or not she remembered to write to him at all. Sky couldn't hear his last words of farewell, if there were any, as she walked out onto the road toward the Lab. Now that she was pretty much alone and walking down the road, the quote popped up into her head again for reasons as random as she could've ever thought. When I get my first Pokemon, I'm going to tell them the quote and see their reaction. Sky decided to herself, trying to remember it as she pondered. She also wondered why in the world she felt like thinking so much today; was it the anxiety of a first Pokémon? Is it because she actually got more than her full-hour's sleep? Crap, I'm thinking complex again... It wasn't that Sky hated thinking a lot, she actually liked the feeling when she did happen to be in the mood. It was just that Sky had a tendency to space out or something when she did have these moments. But she wasn't worried about spacing out when she was going to meet Professor Mahogany. She took out her Alice in Wonderland book and looked up the page where the quote was:
"'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?' 'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat. 'I don't much care where --' said Alice. 'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat. '--so long as I get somewhere,' Alice added as an explanation."
Sky stared at the book awhile before physically putting it back away in her backpack. Sky particularly liked the last part of the quote when Alice added to the Cat's explanation. In a way, she was like Alice, except that Sky didn't think that she herself was as naive as Alice was. The thought of seeing talking caterpillars thrilled Sky inside, though the logical side of her was weirded out by it. She blamed her logical side for her inability to draw as good as she could. That not being the point, however, Sky quickly drifted her thoughts to the Lab and the quote.
"So long as I get somewhere," Sky repeated to herself, and turned her head, to see the Lab nearby. She smiled victoriously and walked up the thin gravel path until she found herself at the front doors of the Lab. It was as big as a cabin, to say the least, but it looked like a modern-looking and white cabin. The steel door and windows made Sky think that however, though the plants on the outside of it made it seem homely in a way. The crescent doorknob struck Sky's attention as her hand reached for it, until her eyes shifted to the left of the door, which had a metal sign engraved: "Please Knock." In realization to what it meant, she quickly withdrew her hand from the doorknob, hoping that no one saw her almost opening the door. Looking for any more signs, Sky's hazel eyes gazed at the Starter Pokemon list. She bent down a bit and started reading it, seeing all the different Pokemon she could have. The choice was hard, but if she had to make one at exactly that moment, the Fire/Flying type Pokemon, labeled Grista, looked like a solid choice, if anything. After looking over the list one more time to try to remember the Pokemon, Sky turned toward the steel door again. With anxiety, she rose up her hand and knocked on the steel door of the opening. Sky knocked precisely three times before withdrawing her hand away for an answer or response of some kind.

Even the slight twist of the knob brought the surly pokemon's head whirling towards the door. Bill had hoepd the sign had blown away, he wanted to take his bad mood out on someone. The bad mood was caused by a horrid case of the sniffles. No doubt one of the baby pokemon had given it to him .While he was sick, and congested for weeks, they were up and running about the next day. Since he couldn't beat the babe he had to settle for berating the next trainer to open the door; without knokcing. This one looked like a prime candidate.
Then the knob stopped its turned a quarter of the way through. Bill throw his head down into his hands. Now they would knock, it would have been better if some random pokemon had ripped the fluttering piece of paper off the door, for no other reason then it was shiny, and moving. No such luck today. The one day he woldn't have been yelled at for hanging incompetet new trainers from the ceiling fan. Which due to the chill in the air was turned off, the fans twirling lazily due to a open window. Which slammed down the second Bill found out about it. He didn't need pneumonia.
The time between the hand being removed from the door and the time between the knocks seemed like a eternity to Bill. Maybe this idiot wouldn't wipe their feet off, or they'd say something rude. The Alakzam was literally sitting on the edge of his swivel Leather office chair. Both of his balck eyes locked on the door. Yet when the knocks rang out, and Sky didn't open it he knew this was one of the few that would try to be polite. In other words, not one of the ones that would end up hanging from the ceiling with a Magikarp for a starter.
Lifting his hand the Alakazam's eyes glowed a brialliant blue, and the door creaked open on long neglected hinges. Until Bill sneezed. With a 'CRASH!' the door knocked into the wall on the other side of it, knocking over a few books and rubix cubes on that side of the shelf. Bill was now pissed, not only did he feel isck, ut now he couldn't even open a damn door! "Welcome to the lab--yada--yada." Even if his voice was robotic as always it was hard to understand with the wheeze that accompanied it. The wheeze of one with a bad temper, worse nerves, and a monstrous headache to call their own. Of coourse Bill normally had all of those things in his possession, minus the headache.
The Professor winced at the noise of the door slamming. Normally Bill could hold the fort down until he was done writing his papers. yet in the current mood the Alakzam was in that was not happening anytime soon. Standing up from his backroom desk the Professor walked out into the middle room, blinking at the bright halogen lights, and the amount of sunlight filtering through. "As Bill said welcome. New trainer I presume?" Pushing his glasses up his nose he was relieved when they stopped the glaring sunlight. Even as he spoke his eyes trailed over to the mess on the opposite wall. Horrid. Many of the books bindings were torn, and a few beakers off the top shelf had also shattered. Poor Bill. I really must go get him some PM medicine later
At his Desk Bill groaned, leaning back in his chair, his tail tapping out a tempo on the tiled floor. WHAT ELSE WOULD SHE BE! WHAT IS EVERY TEENAGER THAT TRAIPSES THEIR DIRTY ASS FEET THROUGH OUR LABS! he felt like screaming out. Of course he didn't say anything, his mouth was to dry to draw up the saliva to do it.

After knocking, Sky took another quick glance at the Starter Pokemon list in case the people inside were going to test her on what they were or whatnot. Just then, she heard a slamming of something, which made her head dart up. Was it perhaps a window? She didn't want to move from the front door, but Sky was afraid that she might have startled someone or something with the slamming. Oh boy, great way to make an impression... Sky sighed to herself, hoping that the slam wasn't directed toward her. She looked up to try and see how far the Lab stretched up to the sky. The day was clear, though chilly, with some slight winds adding to it, but Sky didn't mind. She had a jacket around her which kept her warm enough to stand the slight chill.
Almost immediately after Sky took some time to look up, she heard a creak, which made her eyes direct at the door again. She took a hesitant step toward the creaking door, but jumped when it unexpectedly flew back, and then hearing some probably smaller items falling from the crash. Sky almost screamed; her mouth was open to do so, but her realization that the Laboratory doors opened to her, the screamed ceased to even come out. She looked over the opening up and down, only to find a mat. A welcome mat...? Sky thought to herself as she stepped in from the porch, landing her feet on it. Thinking it polite, she wiped her feet on the mat before stepping onto the black and white checkered floor.
Sky took a look around the Lab briefly to find that at the right corner, was a steel desk neatly organized with a bookshelf behind it with seven rows of yellow-paged books, which were possibly journals. She didn't know whether they were journals or books, but her hazel eyes traveled to the middle of the room, which had three pillars, each holding two same colored balls. Squinting her eyes, Sky walked a little closer to try and see them, but stopped after realizing that it would be rude to just ignore the Alakazam sitting at his-also steel-desk filled with paperwork in the left corner of the room. So, from where she was standing, Sky tried making out what kind of balls were on the pillars, but could only find that one set of the balls were lightly tinted green, another set lightly tinted blue, while the last set lightly tinted orange. In order to see what kind they were though, Sky would have to walk closer, which she didn't plan on doing at the present.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a voice, in which came from the left side of the room. Sky directed her attention to the Alakazam, whom, she guessed, welcomed her. Sky nodded, though the welcome was hard to distinguish what mood it was. It actually appeared more like a boring welcome, but she couldn't tell with the wheezing that followed. When he finished, Sky smiled,"Thank you," she told the Alakazam. A few moments passed by before she realized that he had a cold, or so it seemed. Immediately, Sky felt sorry for him because she knew that colds were always nasty and annoying to have. In fact, she recently had a cold not too long ago, and it wasn't pretty.
Just then, Sky heard footsteps, which sounded like they were coming from some distance to where she was. When she turned toward their direction, she saw, presumably, the Professor. Sky gave another smile after he welcomed her as well. When he mentioned 'Bill', though, Sky looked toward the Alakazam. Hm, he must be Bill... She thought to herself, but looked immediately back at the professor when he asked her if she was a new trainer, "Yes I am, sir," Sky replied to his question, and tried making eye contact until she realized that the professor wasn't looking at her at the moment. She turned around to try and find out what he was looking at instead, until she spotted a mess of books and shattered beakers. Sky widened her eyes, immediately understanding why the Professor was looking at it. After a moment of feeling sorry for whoever had to clean it, Sky tried making eye contact with the professor again.
"My name is Sky," she introduced herself, "nice to meet you both," Sky directed her introduction toward both the Professor and the Alakazam, making a small smile.

Bill watched as the girl wiped her feet on the carpet. It secretly disappointed him. Hopefully the next person would not be so sweet, this girl almost made him sick. Well it wasn't very hard considering the cold he already had. Wiping a hand across his nose he grimaced in disgust, sniffling loudly. To lazy; or tired; to get up and grab the tissues he sent a box from the professor's desk to his own. Of course the way it bounced on the floor showed the psychic types evident lack of concentration. Normally he could have sent it back and forth ten times in the duration it took him to inch it across the floor and onto the edge of his desk. When it did so he pulled three tissues out, folding two in half and laying them in a pile. The first he used to blow his nose. A trumpet like sound. Rather loud compared to most of his actions, but one cannot control the volume of ones nose-blowing.
"You are welcome human." Normally the word human would have been spat, or said in some mean manner that really made the first part of his reply useless. When he had a headache it did help the general mood of the conversation, mostly because the bitterness was lost, unheard behind the wheezing and coughing. Of course most of the time if Bill got to a headache everyone was already in a hissy fit. The best time to come to the professor was when Bill was napping, tired, or incapacitated. Which wasn't that often. Bill was the kind of person that refused to go to sleep until everyone else in the house was. With all kinds of baby Pokemon running about that was usually very late into the night, and going to sleep late added caffeine, and more of a lack of sleep. He hated being sleep because that was the only time he went to sleep before anyone else. James practically forced him to. The medicine, PM kind, made from some Pokemon/berry juice, and scientific modified chemicals was mixed in with his coffee. Putting him out like a light. Even if he appeared bulky he really didn't weigh that much. Which allowed the professor to cover him up, and let him sleep.
The professor smiled. His tanned, and weathered face turning to meet the girl's. The Bookshelf could easily be fixed later. "Close the door dear. Come on in. Let's see if we can't get this sorted out shall we?" 'It' was referring to the choosing process. The professor had his own list of Pokemon, making the one the girl had observed rather useless. She seemed large enough to take one of the little rascals off his hands. There was a spark in her eyes, she could likely take care of one of the more advanced Pokemon. If they got much older they'd turn into Bill and gave to be shipped off, they fought when no one was watching, leveling themselves up, and making themselves eligible for training. Something about unfair advantages.
The professor nodded his thanks for sky's polite greeting. "Before you start call me -- " "James" Bill finished with a cough. The professor likely would have went through this nice list of compliments about 100 words long. That would have eventually ended in 'James'. "Professor Mahogany is a mouthful, and much to formal. Dear is there a certain type of Pokemon you like?" Maybe he had one of those types in his extra stash. Maybe he wouldn't have to show them all off. Bill likely couldn't lift a pinky in his condition without breaking it, much less a pokeball.[/blockquote]

After introducing herself, Sky looked at Bill, whom had made her nervous over the past couple of minutes. Sometimes the Alakazam gave her dirty looks...or so she thought. Maybe it's because he's sick...? Sky didn't know whether she was lying to herself or not, but, from the looks of it, she was. Then she pondered as to what flaw of hers the Alakazam was bothered with during her brief stay so far. After thinking over at school, it clicked within her thoughts. People at school sometimes called her a goody-goody, though Sky didn't think herself as one. No, she thought she was like any normal person, though it was only her own opinion. She hoped that she didn't make herself come out as a goody-goody however, even though the chances were high. Sky wanted to be polite because there wasn't any reason to be rude presently, and there wasn't any reason to be short or uncaring either. Besides, it wasn't really in Sky's nature to be nasty right off the bat, though she could be if she wanted to, though that was rare.
The nervous energy went down slightly after Bill replied to her thank you to him. It was unexpected to her that Bill gave any response to her thanks at all really, which was the huge reason why that her nerves slightly went down. At least she didn't get the impression that Bill disliked her, though she had no way in proving that. When she looked at Bill, Sky wondered what happened if a rude trainer came into the Lab; he seemed like the type of Pokemon to get extremely annoyed, but Sky didn't make any rash judgement upon him. Actually, Bill reminded her of the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland; as she remembered it, Alice, at first, didn't get along with him, and the caterpillar tested her a lot on her knowledge of things, telling her that every answer she said was wrong. Sky could imagine Bill doing that to someone, actually, but the thought exited out of her mind while another merged in after her eyes fell on the Professor again.
A smile was visible on the Professor's face when Sky looked at him again, making her more comfortable after her nervous energy with Bill. When he spoke, he spoke of shutting the door and getting the plan sorted out, or something along those lines. Sky nodded and turned toward the steel doors of the Lab. It was still wide open from earlier, so she went to the side of it first and laid her hand on the edge. The steel felt cold against the skin of her hand as Sky gave a pull; the door was a bit heavy, being steel, but she could easily manage it. After a few moments of pulling slowly, due to the cautiousness of the fallen things on the floor, Sky got it closed. The door-closing done, Sky smiled and walked to the Professor again and finally replied enthusiastically, "Definitely."
Then he began to say something, though a cough of 'James' was heard from Bill, interrupting the Professor. Sky gave a small laugh at Bill's comment, though had her attention to James again. He was right in the point that Professor Mahogany did seem formal, though she would call him whatever he preferred. For instance, Sky's real name was Skylar, she preferred Sky, mostly because of the fact that it was shorter and seemed prettier in her perspective. When he asked Sky if there was a certain type of Pokemon she liked, the first three that came up in her mind were Ghost, Psychic, and Dragon. So Sky answered the question, "I like Psychic, Ghost, and Dragon types all in all, but if I had to pick a preference out of those three, it would be Dragon," Sky replied and smiled again, but then remembered the list outside and quickly added, "but out of the list outside, the Grista looked fine as well," the Grista wasn't her favorite type of Pokemon, but out of all the Starters on the list that she saw, it would be the one she'd choose, if anything.

"I had come to the colnclusion you probably want to get on the road." The professor's constant smile swelled at the teenagers simple one word answer, 'definitely.' His reply was as chipper as a little boy with candy; a great contrast to his life long friend, Bill. "I had come to the conclusion you probably want to get on the road." Being in the room with Bill for any amount of time was nerve racking. So it was a reasonable prediction that almost anyone that came in the lab wanted to get their pokemon and leeave. Given enough time Bill could find flaws in almost anybody, or reasons why he thought they needed to be taught a hard lesson; or five.
Bill looked at the giggling girl coldly. That hadn't been meant to be fun; no it was meant to show how easy to predict the professor was. The Alakazam was willing to bet his life on the fact that the Proffessor would be smiling until this girl left, and when the next trainer came in. No real variety, the professor was either, happy, pretending to be happy, sick or depressed. The last two usually accompanied one another. The only time he hadn't been depressed and sick because of it was when any of the pokemon he had trained had died. Most of them because of abuse, or tussles with other pokemon out back. That always sent the professor into the earth, and he made Bill look like a angel for at least a month with the behavior he exhibited during depression. Of course this was very rare.
The Professor waited patiently for the girl to answer his earlier question. His eyes flowing around the room taking in everything that the intimate meeting of door and wall had broken, or demolished. Bill was dangerous most of the time, but when he could't concentrate he was even worse then usual, besides being grouchy and messing up on purpose he was dangerous. "Dragon type eh? Ghost and Psychic are nice as well." Dragones were the rarest type, and perhaps the strongest. Remoor seemed to have a abundance of the reptilin creatures oddly enough. "Grista's are nice as well." In truth his favorite was likely the Selibulb; their last form wzas devastation in its most potent form.
At the word 'Ghost' Bill scoffed, although at the moment it sounded more like a cough. He hated those annoying little tricksters, and if they weren't already dead he would have killed them all on his own! Those little psychic mindtricks wreaked havoc with everyone!
Opening his mouth to ask Bill for help he shook his head. Thinking better of it. Leaning his cane against the fire pillar he pushed a lined piece in the center, a little compartment was revealed. Pulling ot one Grista pokeball he laid it on top of the pillar. "Do you know what a Statilee is? Or a Gible? Or for Psychic a beldum or Smoochum?" They weren't on the list, but she seemed to have what it takes to have one of the extra ones.

[Sorry it's only a three paragraph post XD]
Sky listened as the Professor assumed that she wanted to get on the road soon; she somewhat did, but, at least the Professor was nice enough to calm her nerves enough. Bill however, did make her more nervous, which made her nerves both nervous and calm. She shrugged, "Well..." Sky glanced over at Bill, but didn't want to make things worse, "I don't really know, but I don't want to leave that soon," Sky didn't want to lie and tell him she wanted to stay, but she didn't want to tell him that she wanted to get out of here soon, because that would be...half a lie. Bill would be the only reason she'd want to leave, but she wasn't that much of a wreck to let Bill drive her out without him even insulting her.
Sky nodded at the Professor's statements, "Yes; they are quite nice," she smiled. She liked Dragons the most because she felt they were very versatile, besides their weakness to ice. Psychic was good because she thought their attacks were strong and could pretty much do damage to lots of types. Ghost types, however, were very tricky and they showed so in their attacks, such as Confuse Ray. As for the Grista, it was a good combination since it reminded her of Charizard, which was a strong Pokemon. Though the Grista wasn't her favorite type, however, she liked it out of all the Starters on the list outside.
"A Stantilee?" Sky questioned a bit before the professor went on about other Pokemon that weren't on the list outside. She knew the other Pokemon he described, though she didn't know what a Stantilee was. Although the Gible made Sky perk up; she could really have a Gible? She's always wanted to obtain one and train one, but she never dreamed of obtaining one as a starter this early, "You mean..." Sky began, "I could...own a Gible as a Starter?" she asked James with excited eyes, though contained herself. Sky was excited now, though she also wanted to know what a Stantilee was before she made any rash decisions. Beldum and Smoochum were great Pokemon, Sky knew, especially the Beldum. But she just wanted a Gible a little bit more.

(I really don't mind.*takes a deep breath)
The professor tried his best to disguise a giggle as the girl's eyes met Bill's. Whose red stuffy nose made most of the intimadation factor go out the window, of course his eyes kept it hanging there by a string. "I understand where your coming from." Even if he really didn't. Bill had never really scared him, of course that might have been because of the fact that he had captured/obtained him as a Abra. Back then Bill had been more then a litte friendly. Of course with power came arrogance, and with death came a hard shell. Thus the Bill everyone that got a pokemon from the lab knew, but about only half loved.
"Statilee--the shock dragon pokemon. (SEE POKEDEX ENTRY)" Bill rambled on as the question was asked. Quite a few trainers had inquired if Bill was the voice of Remoor's pokedex. None had gotten a straight answer. Of course when the girl asked about the Gible he realized all of the information he had spouted had been completely useless. This caused his black eyes to narrow even farther, becoming little lsits of annoyance. "That's what he just said you!---*SNEEZE!--" Any deragotory comments from the Alakzam were cut off as he let out a sneeze, glad for the tissue he had still been holding in his hands. James on the other hand was glad for the sneeze, no matter how devilish that want was. At least it kept the girl from hearing whatever rude words had been about to spill out of his mouth.
The professor smiled. Nodding his head, unlike Bill he didn't mind answering questions, even if the answers had just been spoken. In fact he liked repeating himself. "Yes. I have one more of those left. Want him?"(or her?) James inquired. All it would take was a little trip to the storage rooom. There was no way this girl would let him take back the offer. It was obvious she wanted a Gible. That voice had been one of a dream being answered, the same voice James had used himself when he had echoed the words of the previous professor of Barkwish 'my lab?'. Now he was just getting off topic. "Train. Not own." Those words were the kind that independent pokemon got angry about the word own and 'my own' and anything that sounded like anything less the cooperation. a lot of pokemon would attack you for that; it ws't that he thought the girl was a Slaver-trainer or anything like that. No it was just a good-hearted warning from the big0hearted professor. [/blockquote]

[Thank you, lol I just watched 'Across the Universe', so I'm somewhat spaced out XD] Sky nodded, "Thank you, James," she gave a slight nervous laugh when she turned her head to Bill again. She wondered again what would've happened if she was rude instead to both the professor and Bill. The thought calmed her down slightly because she figured she'd probably be worse off if she did do that. When she turned her face back to James's, she thought she saw a slight, if anything, smirk on his face, though she thought it was just her imagination. After all, sometimes her imagination acted off sometimes when she was focusing on something, which, in this case, was Bill and her starter.
When Bill started explaining what a Stantilee was, Sky listened intently, and, it sounded quite interesting. Bill even told almost all about it, and Sky felt bad while he was talking because, in the end, she still wanted the Gible. Apparently, Bill heard, and he seemed angry when he did. She felt bad, actually, that he went into a whole explanation for her question. But least she knew now, and she was thankful to Bill for it, despite her preference in starters, "Thank you though, Bill," Sky managed to get out after his yelling, which made her feel even more nervous. Oh boy... Sky thought to herself as she breathed a sigh of relief that he couldn't get the rest out, in her mind of course. If she did that with him and James watching, she would probably appear awkward.
When the professor asked Sky if she wanted the Gible, she grinned, "Oh, thank you, James," she tried to keep calm, so she tried saying it as calmly as she could, "I'd love to train him," With her nervous energy, Sky could almost be described jumpy, though she calmed herself through taking a deep breath in. The nervous energy was from Bill and the anxiety of her first Pokemon, while the calmness was from the professor and, surprisingly, Bill again. Mostly for the part that if she got too excited, she would just get even more nervous energy, which she definitely did not need.
After the professor corrected Sky, she mentally slapped herself for saying 'own', "I'm sorry; I was just a bit...excited I guess," Sky explained to him. If she was a Pokemon, she herself would also be offended if a trainer said that they 'owned' her. Sky would've preferred 'train', as well, but as she explained, she was just a bit excited earlier.

"It's my job you know. So no thanks needed" Well part of his job. In fact his job requirements were extensive. The was one of the few rehibilatation centers for injured pokemon, that the trainers couldn't take care of. All the records of new trainers were kept in his roster. Besides that he handed out new pokemon, and did research during the few days he had off in the middle of winter. Not as eventful as he would have liked; being constrained on time as he was. The one from last year had been observing the loss of feathers in docile pokemon that had flew to the non-docile ones. The professor hadn't even been allowed to fill out a single column, when he had got there he was forced to sit in the tent the entire time, and do math.
This girl must really be nervous to htank him for useless information. Of course it might come in handy if she ever met a wild Statilee--but those were even rarer then wild Gibles. The Alakazam merely grunted in return for the statement of gratification. Thanking someone for useless infomation ws like inviting him to recite the entire Remoorian pokedex, three times through.
James blushed as he realized the look on his face had been more of a smirk then his normal comforting grin. Rubbing his hand across his face, as if to wipe a stain away he listened to the girl. Laughing softly as she finished. "You are welcome-again. We'll see if you thank me after you see what he's like." That wasn't to say she wouldn't like her; just that he might not be the perfect lovey dovey pokemon she wanted. Holding up one latex covered hand he wandered off towards the back room ,his cane tapping rapidly beside him. It was more a show of wisdom then a necessity. people seemed to respect those with canes mroe then those without. Looking at the straight line of his back it was obvious the cane was uneeded. The Professor disappeared from view seconds later. There was a loud mumble that resumbled a 'saur'. Then the professor came back out, staggering under the wieght of a overstuffed backpack, a tin of food, and of course a pokeball, enlarged, perched precariously on top.
Stopping in front of the girl he nodded at her apology. Perfectly understandable. Laying the stuff on the floor he glanced from the young lady to the pile of stuff on the floor. "Here you go. I know you were just excited."

Sky smiled, refraining to say another 'Thank you', since James looked like he really didn't want to hear anymore. She also didn't need to be repetitive, so she showed excitement instead. As for Bill, she heard him grunt at her thanks, though Sky expected it. She obviously didn't expect a 'You're welcome', the second time around. And if he did, it would've probably been grudgingly. Sky didn't dislike Bill; if she did, she wouldn't even have thanked him. But it didn't mean she was exactly overjoyed with Bill either. He was just kinda neutral to Sky, but the bottom line was that she didn't dislike him. James, on the other hand, was nice, and Sky did like the Professor, though sometimes she wondered if he thought his job tiring sometimes. It was almost as if he knew that he should smile to make the trainers feel more comfortable. Nonetheless though, Sky liked him for both calming her nerves and her Starter Pokemon.
Then Sky noticed a small blush, though she figured it was her imagination as well. After all, if he was blushing, she'd have no idea what about besides the tempurature, which she thought was fine, but maybe staying in the Lab for a while made it stuffy. She took the thought away from her head and listened when the Professor explained that Sky might be...she guessed surprised when she saw the Gible. She laughed though, "Oh, we'll see," she smiled. Even though the Gible was a Male, that's what Sky preferred. She preferred a Male Starter because she needed a guy's perspective on some things, and Males were exactly the perfect type. If females were rude, they'd be snooty or something, and Sky just can't stand that. If Bill was Female and snooty, perhaps it would lead Sky to dislike him, since he wasn't though, she could tolerate it.
When James dropped off the items that Sky would probably need on her journey, she kneeled down to collect the backpack, and the Pokeball on top. She put the backpack on her back, along with packing her Alice in Wonderland book in it as well, since she had been carrying that. Then she picked up the Pokeball, and looked back up at the Professor, "Thank you, James, again," she laughed, "for everything," Sky added. Then she turned to Bill, "And thank you for letting me in," Sky decided to give him some credit, "and I hope you get better soon," she added with that, hoping that he did soon.
Sky then walked back to where she came, at the front of the Lab, and waved to both the Professor and Bill, "Bye!" Sky called out before exiting the Lab and officially beginning her journey.
