Name: Articuno
Gender: Male
Race: Articuno/Freeze Pokemon/Ice Bird
Age: Ancient (Unknown)
Sexuality Preference: Straight, but does not breed.
Appearance:
The graceful, legendary creature that is Articuno, the great ice bird of the mountains. His wingspan is huge, stretching twice his height, which is exactly 5'07". He weighs 122.1 lbs, but his size does not slow him down, nor does it falter his agility and sheer power. With a strong flap of his wings, he sends shards of ice toward enemies. While he flies above the mountains he collects moisture from the air to whip up blizzards, or simply lets powdery snow fall from his great blue wings. Articuno is a swift Pokemon, only needing to flap his enormous wings once or twice to get a strong boost.
Articuno's silken feathers are mostly a light blue translucent hue, very similar to the mountains he guards and flies over; working as an excellent camouflage. Contrary to the myth that Articuno's wings are made solely of ice, his feathers are actually quite soft and well taken care of, being groomed more than twice daily. They are thick and layered over each other, and over cushioned down below which keeps the arctic bird warm in his harsh climate. His chest has a large and noticeable patch of glacier blue fluff, most likely to keep his lungs and heart protected from the cold.
Articuno has a small but sleek head, often co cked or tilted with curiosity. Three thin diamonds form together to make a dark blue crown on his head, starting at his brown beak and ending a few inches above the top of his head. On either side of his crown is a small bright red eye, often times containing a spark of curiosity or wonder.
The arctic bird has long, ribbon-like tail feathers that flow pleasantly with the thermals. There are three to be exact. Most of the time the three form together to make one long blue tail, but other times separate, like when Articuno is flying. Beneath his beautiful tail feathers are two long brown legs, talons. Sharp claws intact and sharpened, a charcoal black. Articuno uses these as his weapon of choice when hunting down a meal.
Personality:
Articuno is the guardian of the mountains, the bird of ice. He is kind to almost all beings, and tries to be helpful when he can. It is said that Articuno finds people or pokemon lost in the mountains and leads them back to safety. Though Articuno seems friendly toward others, he is also very shy and docile. He often cries out out of his lonesomeness, or sings softly with the howling wind. Articuno likes to be at peace with all.
Articuno's nature is generally calm and pleasant, but he can also be rather nasty if really provoked. He doesn't like outsiders hurting the pokemon that he watches over in his mountains, and can be rather protective. But Articuno is not proud, and does not gloat over victories. Articuno feels that trainers should stay out of the mountains, because it's so dangerous for them.
Articuno is somewhat cautious, and always watchful. Always watching. Watching for potentially dangerous pokemon, watching for foolish trainers that wander into the mountains in hopes of capturing him. He also watches wonders in nature to soothe his mind. He likes to listen to the wind and watch the snowflakes whiz by him as he glides gracefully above the mountaintops.
History:
Articuno would share his history, if he knew what it was. Being one of the first created Pokemon, he had barely any recollection of his earliest years on earth, though they were supposedly quite calm with such few others around to socialize with. Articuno has been around for decades, centuries, millenniums. He has been watching carefully through all of the history of the Pokemon world. He and the other Legendary Pokemon. Zapdos and Moltres are said to be his "brothers" and Lugia and Ho-oh relatives as well.
Articuno has been rescuing people and Pokemon stranded in the mountains for years now, and always keeps up on his job, which he takes the utmost seriously. Many times he has been befriended by others whom he has helped, but every so often a foolish human comes along to try and capture him, or defeat him.
One time it actually did happen, and Articuno was gone from his mountain home for a few weeks. A collector had weakened him immensely with an unfair ambush of a Charizard, a Salamence and a Flygon that took him down after one hell of a fight. But Articuno escaped, and returned to the mountains where he was greeted warmly.
The truth is, Articuno still flies between the regions, watching over each and every pokemon with much consideration.
Roleplay Sample:
The howling wind graced his sensitive ears as his crimson eyes snapped open. He was perched on a jagged rock jutting out of one of the mountains where his nest was located. Articuno let out a soft churring sound, as though in response to the blustery wind. The great arctic bird stretched out his enormous wings, letting them reach to their fullest extent without so much as brushing another rock.
Articuno's red optics swam with thought as he proceeded to groom his primary feathers. Is that a voice I hear? He wondered, scanning his surroundings for something, possibly a stranded Pokemon trainer. He was used to this routine thing. There were trainers who came out for exploration or to catch wild pokemon, but then there were foolish trainers that came to try and capture Articuno himself. He'd like to see them try. A soft chur of laughter escaped his parted beak and he lifted off, beating his wings strongly against the blizzard.
Within seconds he was gliding smoothly overhead, catching the few thermals and slipping in and out of scuppers in the air. Articuno tilted his head slightly and let out a piercing cry, using the echo to try and pinpoint where he was. Though his eyesight was great, the snowstorm was still altering his vision and concentration. With a fierce sweep of his wings, the blizzard evaporated and his flight path was clearer.
Articuno drifted higher, watching out for any signs of distress in his beautiful mountain home. He was the guardian of the mountains. No creature would suffer or perish on his careful watch.
