Frai continued to run and stumble along the path to the Lab. His feet flew out behind him, kicking up stray rocks and gravel behind him. They were all hurled to poor Revalation, his Scyther, who screeched in protest and held up his scythes to protect him from the sharp pieces of earth. <Scythahhh!!> he whined, shaking his dusty wings and giving a healthy glare to the young blonde. "Heh, sorry Rev! I just can't wait to get another starter and get registered!" Frai called out, turning his head to the green, giant mantis and giving him a grin. He adjusted his black-rimmed glasses and continued to run, huffing and puffing and gasping for breath. He suddenly slowed to a stop and leaned over, his hands on his legs as he coughed and gasped. If any passerby happened to be walking by him, they would know how completely out of shape he was.
The young blonde gulped slightly in panic. Surely, the highly acclaimed Professor Mahogany would never let such an out of shape wannabe trainer take one of his Pokemon...! Frai shook his head. No. The professor was kind, he heard, he would let him have his own Pokemon, no problem, no worries at all. And the early bird does catch the best pocket monster, after all. He grinned and looked up at the sky. The sun was just peeking over the hilltops, a sliver of light, and the sky was a pallet filled with purples and pinks and reds and all sorts of other warm colors. Frai figured that he'd probably been traveling for about two and a half hours by now...he had made a deal with his mother's Chatot to wake him up extra early so he could be there on time. Even though he lived in Sunshine City, traveling all the way to Barkwish Town was a huge journey on foot. Frai groaned; now he really wished that he didn't loan his bike to his father to get to work...
Revelation's wings buzzed softly, a constant humming that, even though quite annoying, was a comfort to the sixteen year old. No matter what, Rev was there, his wings always humming and buzzing warmly. Frai grinned. "I'll always have a home when I'm around you, huh Rev?" he said gently, then put a pale hand on the bug's horned skull. The mantis gave a toothy grin and squeezed his eyes shut, nuzzling into the kind hand that gave him such warmth and love. Frai smiled softly. This really was the starting of a brand new day, the first day of the rest of his life.
He stood straight and began to walk. And each step I take will bring me even closer to my very first stop of my journey, he thought to himself. His footfalls were determined and quick, as if he was marching to the beating of his own heart. A fixed, determined look was on his face as he continued to walk, his hands in his pockets and his scarred, somewhat cowardly Scyther by his side, flitting around this way and that, chirping every so often. "I already told you, we're going to the Professor's to get another starter Pokemon and get registered. After all, I haven't really 'caught' you yet," Frai explained, turning to the bug and answering his questioning chirps and gurgles.
A few more minutes and the lab was finally in sight. Frai smiled to himself and suddenly began to run, faster than ever before. Revelation sqwaked in protest, shaking off the dust and gravel that was suddenly hurled at him before fluttering quickly after his best friend.
The sun was finally risen, and its early morning light glowed a beautiful pink color onto the lab. It was small, like a tiny cabin, yet intimidating, its forboding shadow cast right on top of the new duo. All Frai could do was stare up in awe at the awesome sight before him. It looked so busy in there, as he peered through the glass windows and steel-rimmed and knobbed doors. Trainers young and old were bustling everywhere nervously, some carrying their newly befriended Pokemon, others looking on jealously. Frai gulped and took a few steps forward before ushering himself through the door, letting Revelation follow before creaking the door open, still grasping the knob tightly.
The blonde boy continued to walk through the vast kitchen, his green eyes looking this way and that, staring at all the wonderful sights and colors before noting a large sign. Professor Mahogany. it read. Frai took a deep breath. "This is it, buddy," he said nervously before knocking on the door.
"Um, hello, Professor sir? I, uh, I'm looking for a starter kit..." the boy said cautiously.
And as he stood in front of the first stop with his best friend Revelation, he thought to himself, Yes, it really is the first day of the rest of my life...
OOC;; First post here! Hope it's okay. ^_^;

"He's outside. I'd be happy to make you wait." A monotonic voice spoke from behidn the stack of paperwork crowding his desk. There was a scrapping sound as the Alakazam pushed his chair back, and a large 3 fingered hand reached out and laid another rubix cube on the sagging shelfving system. Instead of the normal brown rags that most Alakazam's opted for this one was dressed in a immaculate lab coat. The top clear button was the only thing actually fastened properly. The rest swam loosely around the lanky creatures frame. Nodding to the trainer he stood up ,and glared at the milling solicitors. "No more then two trainers at a time. In other words if you have your pokemon even if you didn't want that one ,GET OUT!"
Which now left the lab empty except for the Alakazam and Frai, and of course his buglike companion. Who received a narrowed eyed stare from the Alakazam. "If you have a pokemon may I ask why you are here?unless you brought that dirty thing in from outside." Hopefully not. Out back they had a overly aggressive Scyther who lost all touch with reality after watching her trainer being rip to shreds by the rocky hide of a rhyhorn. He really hoped he had not found this thing outside. It had taken long enough to guide it back indoors.
Seconds later the back door opened and a man whose age would have been elderly if not for the childish twinkle in his eyes, and the spring in his step. "Bill. Please do not insult our guest. I am sure he has his reasons for coming here." Pausig to examine the Scyther he realized it looked like a battle hardened beast, although it was a little on the puny side. Still it seemed to be the same level as all the other pokemon in the lab. So it couldn't do any more damage then a rolling Phan----nevermind. That was more then enough damage to his lab, but not as bad as the bagn he had once had running about the place. They knocked almost anything over!
Pushing his green rimmed glasses up on his face the professor looked towards Frai. "If you haven't happened to figure it out already I am professor James Mahoghany." With this statement he held out a slightly dusty hand. The pokemon had decided to tackle him again today, and ow even his dirt resistant clothes left imprints of dust and debris on the floor. Shaking his white head he smiled. Even if he would never take another job this one was sometimes very taxing on the older man. "baby pokemon can be so rowdy sometimes."
Hearing Bill berate the guest had distracted the professor. Making him forget about the open door that now had baby pokemon running through it. Their names being called in their own high pitched voices. The professor blushed underneath the dust. It was horrid when he ruined a new trainer's day, and judging by his scyther's level this fellow was a newbie. Right now he felt like one too. Whther he had two high leveled pokemon or not.

"He's outside," a robotic voice said from behind a mound of paperwork. "I'd be happy to make you wait." Frai blinked and furrowed his brow. Was that huge pile of paperwork concealing a tape recorder of sorts? He was too distracted by his puzzling to fully notice the Alakazam until he towered over his fair bodice. His lanky frame cast a forboding shadow over the boy and his bug, and Revelation immediately went behind the blonde, whimpering. Frai rolled his eyes at Rev, turning his head to the bug. "It's okay, I think he's one of the professors here, too," he mumbled to the cowering mantis, who was holding up his scythes in defense. <Saiiii...> he growled, his face screaming <Don't come near me! I'm warning you...!> Frai smirked. For being such a scarred and beaten bug, one would think he'd be much more brave than this...
The awe-inspiring Alakazam glared at the rest of the trainers, bewildered with their new Pokemon. Why were they just standing there? Green occules blinked and turned to the large frame of the psychic Pokemon, watching carefully. "No more then two trainers at a time. In other words if you have your pokemon even if you didn't want that one, GET OUT!" he barked. Frai winced and whirled to the other trainers, who all scrambled to escape, pushing and shoving to get out the door at the same time. The psychic then turned to Frai, a questioning gleam in his eyes. "If you have a pokemon may I ask why you are here? unless you brought that dirty thing in from outside," he sneered, looking down at the new trainer. Frai heard a growl come from behind him. Frai couldn't help but glare as well. "What do you mean 'thing'?! You wouldn't know one thing about..." The boy caught himself. This Pokemon was here to help him. Frai needed to cooperate. He sighed through his nose and turned back to Revelation. "This is Revelation, my Scyther. I've never...caught him before. I don't really want to either. He follows me, we're friends." He turned back to the Alakazam and was about to add when a sound from behind him caused his eyes to stray.
It was none other than Professor Mahogany himself! Frai swallowed and took a step back. He was elderly, as Frai had pictured, but...he seemed almost...childish, in a way. He had a magical-like aura surrounding him...and he was covered in dust. He looked quite comical, really. But Frai thought that he knew it too...just the way his eyes gleamed and his mouth smiled kindly to him...Frai couldn't help but split a grin right back.
"Bill. Please do not insult our guest. I am sure he has his reasons for coming here." So Bill was the Alakazam's name...Frai took note as he watched the events unfold. The professor pushed up his glasses and studied the boy and his mantis. Revelation cowered slightly, then, realizing he was being examined, puffed out his exoskeleton and chirped proudly. Frai couldn't help but chuckle at the little creature. "His bark's bigger than his bite. He's really quite the frady cat," he told the white haired man studying him. He took the dusty hand offered to him and gave another awkward grin. "Frai Kurusa. Super nice to meet you, sir," he said, adjusting his glasses nervously. "And, um, I do have a reason. I heard that when you get a starter...you get a starter pack as well...I kinda, um, need both..."
He cleared his throat and scratched the back of his neck."Well, y'see, I don't really 'own' my Scyther. He's never been in a PokeBall in his life. He's free to do what he wants, and he just...wants to stick around me, I guess. So, I need a Pokemon of my own before I go out into the world...right?" he said sheepishly, looking up at the kindly Professor helplessly.
But not without a "woah!" coming from his mouth as a baby Magby headbutted him slightly. He only just barely regained his balance before looking in to see the wide open door, baby pocket monsters rushing in, cheeping and squealing their names cutely. Revelation blinked as an Iglybuff began to cuddle with the mantis' slightly scary frame. Frai grinned. "Yeah, I guess they are kinda rowdy. I've never really been around Pokemon until last year," he said, smiling up at the professor. "So, how do I start, exactly?" he asked, his eyes filled with curiosity. The more he learned now, the better he was out in the wild!

Bill liked a good dose of shivering in the morning. Taking a deep breath Bill went back to hs desk and sat down. Closing his eyes and sighing deeply, these two weren't so bad. Although giving them a pokemon would give them a unfair advantage it was the golden hearted professor's decision. The Alakazam had no doubt which option he would choose. He is much to nice sometimes ,if someone tried to rob him he'd offer them a pokeball first. Not to mention a plate of cookies. The telepathectically he let out a echoing question. ~Wouldn't you James? Yes you would. Nodding the Alakazam ank back further into his chair, and began playing with the lights by telepathically turning them on and off. Mumbling insult all the way.
Ignoring the fuming Bill he turned back to Rev and Frai. Trying to ignore the Phanpy and Bulbasaur running back and forth across his feet. The boy already knew something about how to deal with pokemon, surely he would rather take one of the elder ones off his hands. The harder to deal with and more rowdy ones. Sighing he gently nudged a few of the young pokemon towards Bill. Causing gleeful cries of: <Mommy! Mommy! Lets go see Mommy!> from the babes before they ran off to go bother 'mommy.' In other words they had ran off to pester the simmering Alakazam. Seconds later muffled cries were heard and the lights buzzed back on and stayed that way.
"Hmm...Well if he isn't technically yours, and no offense Revelation but it doesn't seem like your a pokemon cut out for gym battles. His scythes look to fragile for any slicing." Stooping down near the baby pokemon still harassing his feet he gently shooed them away, reaching behind a nearby green pillar and pulling out a black backpack. A large red sleeping bag was resting on top of it, inserted under the vinyl and netted straps. "Inside this is your starter kit, all I need to know is which of these do you want. Lovable little buggers." 'These' was of course referring to the group of Baby pokemon running around
Pausing the professor began flicking his cane to each youngin in turn, tapping his cane on the floor when he was done. Then quickly the sparkling old man listed the names: "Your delightful choices are as follows, Selibulb, Chikorita, Ralsius, Totodile, Grista, and Torchic. These are the normal starters, in case you were not informed." Pausing the proffesor decided to name off all but his Driffloom and Shedinja, the boy wasn't THAT experienced. "Also just for those more experienced new trainers we happen to have Gible Phanpy, Machop, Beldum, Smoochum and Igglybuff." Taking a deep breath the Professor stopped.
"Any questions? I do hope not" Bill snapped. Taking the words right out of the gaping professor's mouth. Of course any other comments were lost as the Phanpy jumped up from where it had been deposited on the ground and began to smack Bill with it's trunk. Knocking the old moody creature from his fine leather chair Seconds later it found itself floating upside down in the air. Bill looking up at it, anger filling his eyes, although a slight smile did crease the edge of his mouth.

The moody Alakazam, Bill, ambled back to his desk, muttering harsh insults under his breath. The lights flickered on and off, and the blonde figured it was probably the pocket monster's telepathic powers. Frai watched him in awe and slight fear combined; he really was an admirable creature. Frai always liked Alakazam, they were so intelligent and very interesting to converse with. Even though this psychic Pokemon was incredibly moody and rude, he was still an Alakazam and could easily pack an awesome punch on any opponet who dared cross his path. Frai smirked and turned back to the professor politely.
A phanpy and bulbasaur ran to the lanky creature, crying their names eagerly. Frai grinned and laughed, and so did Revelation, who knew what they were saying. Bill growled and suddenly a phanpy was deposited on the floor, chirping and squealing in protest. The lights flickered back on as the psychic creature smirked evily. Revelation laughed again, a buzzing chirp. <Scythehhr...> he said, shaking his horny skull sadly. The poor creature must've been tormented by those two balls of fire every day. Rev felt lucky that he didn't hafta deal with that. At least, not yet, but he knew that Frai would make the right descicion in choosing his starter. The green mantis's head swiveled up to look at his best friend, giving him a cheerful grin.
"Hmm...Well if he isn't technically yours, and no offense Revelation but it doesn't seem like your a pokemon cut out for gym battles. His scythes look to fragile for any slicing," the elderly child explained, examining Frai's friend. The Scyther's demeanor suddenly deflated as he gave a disappointed chirp, his back sagging and his exoskeleton drooping with defeat. Frai laughed and nodded to the professor. "Yeah, he's only a level five from what I've heard. He needs training still, but I don't know if it's really my place or not..." he said, green occules studying the mantis Pokemon. Strong or not, he was still Frai's friend, and if he had to change Revelation just for more power, he wouldn't ever go through with it.
His eyes followed the professor as he kneeled and, gently brushing off a baby Pokemon around his feet, took a black backpack, complete with everything Frai needed filled up inside. The small baby monster ambled awkwardly over to Revelation, who knelt down and began to fly around and play with the little thing.
Frai blinked and swallowed. This was it...his starter kit! An unimaginable excitement filled his stomach as he grinned, watching Mahogany pick it up and suddenly point to the many baby Pokemon running around the lab with his cane. "Inside this is your starter kit, all I need to know is which of these do you want. Lovable little buggers." Frai blinked and nodded slightly, looking around, wondering which one he should choose.
"Your delightful choices are as follows, Selibulb, Chikorita, Ralsius, Totodile, Grista, and Torchic. These are the normal starters, in case you were not informed." He paused, almost as if in thought. "Also just for those more experienced new trainers we happen to have Gible Phanpy, Machop, Beldum, Smoochum and Igglybuff." Frai blinked in surprise. More experienced...? Was this man saying he was actually worthy of one of the harder Pokemon? He stared up and swallowed, frowning. "So...uh, if I wanted the Gible or Phanpy, would I be able to get it?" he asked hesitantly. Revelation's head turned up in surprise, blinking softly, the baby pokemon still at his clawed feet, chirping its name pathetically. His face was screaming <Are you sure...?> Frai blinked and turned his head to the mantis. "Don't gimme that look, I think I can handle it...if the Professor thinks I can handle it, then I can handle it," he said, his face screaming determination. He looked over to the professor nervously and blinked.
"Any questions? I do hope not," the grumpy Alakazam remarked as he began to fall victim to the Phanpy's antics. It soon found itself dangling upside down, with Bill's face having a small sneer plastered onto it. The professor's mouth was agape, but he seemed slightly unphased by the Alakazam. After all, he was probably used to it by now...

"That's what he said is it not.Unlike me james doesn't often offer things and pull them back. Hardly never, which is why this place can be so dull..." At the word dull a stack of papers on his desk exploded into a whirlwind of shreds as the Bulbasaur pounded on it. Spilling a cup of penciles, and a empty porcelain mucg to the floor. None of the objects reached the floor as the laws of gravity stated they should, instead they hovered in midair above the floor. The falling bulbasaur was now in the same position as the Phanpy. Slowly but surely the desk seemed to put itself back together. The papers shuffling int o their respective order, and the coffee mug was soon put back on its oversized coaster. The coaster had at one time had a pikachu scruffed into the surface, but over the years it had faded.
"Please take one of them!" Bill growled. Turning his hair around and staring wistfully out the window. In all truth he never really wanbted them to go, which was why he was so initially rude when the new trainers came in. James had chosen a Bulbasaur, or as the lazy creature was now a Venusaur named Belair. As if reading his thoughts a loud muffled 'VENUUUUUUUZZZZ' of a snore echoed down the hallway and toward the center room. This was followed by a slight intake of breath and another quieter snore. yet Bill now knew how that professor had felt when they had removed the hand raised Bulbasaur, the last one mind you. James had insisted that all the other children could go first, and was force to watch as hiss first and second picks were all carted off.
James smiled. Bill was so rude sometimes! "Yes. Those are completely Viable options.I am quite sure you could handle it my boy." With a nod the professor held up a finger and disappeared for a minute. Down the long hallway he went, where after he entered a certain door the snoring stopped and was replaced by quiet conversing. Seconds later the professor reemerged, two pokebals held in his hand. One with a sticker in pink and bue, the other in red, tan and blue. These were respectively the Pahnpy's pokeball and the Gible's pokeball. He was glad he had Belair to catch him, he really shouldn't be climbing on that shelf anymore, hopefully the boy hadn't heard the dull crash when he had slipepd of the laden shelf.
"Well the Gible in case you can't see it is hiding behind my desk." Hiding wasn't the correct word. More accurately it was denting the Professor's desk by repeatedly ramming it;'s large arrow shaped head into the legs, of course the professor had padded the fellow's head so he didn't cause damage to desk or to himself. Of course the white cotton padding did draw a few giggles from new trainers, who immediaetly took it off. james would rather keep the fellow safe then not have him look silly anyday.
Pulled outo f his reverie the Professor dearly hopedh e wouldn't have a answer from the boy. If he did he really had missed it, oh how foolish would he feel then?
At the moment though the professor had turned his eyes to the phanpy jogging happily across the floor, away from 'Mom' and to investigate the new trainer. The Gilble peeked out from behind the desk and leto ut a toothy grin as the Phanpy raised a trunk in salutations to Rev and Frai. (Oh, I am starting my one char's lab thread again..maybe she can travel with you? She'll end up as part of Pravus later..but not yet.)

ooc;; Sorry, it's kinda short ^_^;; Okay, sounds good. And Phanpy it is then! lol
"That's what he said is it not.Unlike me james doesn't often offer things and pull them back. Hardly never, which is why this place can be so dull..." the Alakazam explained grumpily. A flurry of papers accompanied by a loud "thwump" made Frai jump a bit. He peered at the disheveled 'mom' and tried his hardest not to laugh. A Bulbasaur was playing around in the paperwork. The Bulbasaur, however, soon found himself dangling right next to the Phanpy, and the other papers and knicknacks on the desk were soon organized by Bill's telekenisis. Frai watched in awe. How could he do so many things at the same time and not break a sweat? The glasses-donned lad shook his head. He was a high level Pokemon, of course he could do trivial things like that with ease...
"Please take one of them!" the moody psychic growled, then turned his skull to the window. He looked pained...Frai frowned slightly, but shook it off. Right now, he had to choose. It was his duty to give one of these baby Pokemon a good, warm home with a loving trainer and pleanty of exercise. Whoever he picked, he would try his best to take care of. Revelation blinked and continued to peer at his friend, the baby Smoochum at his feet finding that the small Igglybuff was much more interesting than a giant mantis. Rev ignored the baby and continued to watch Frai in earnest. He really admired his friend, even if he wasn't really the boy's Pokemon. But he had a lot of potential, as the Professor had just explained. The mantis smiled softly; maybe that's why he went with him, was because of his potential. His persona just radiated warmth and kindness, despite his outward act he put on.
Frai stared up at Mahogany admiringly. He had potential? Wow, it really was an honor, especially coming from the mouth of one of the most highly acclaimed pokemon professors in the region. He held up a dusty, dirty finger and walked out swiftly. Frai stood awkwardly, his hand straying to rest atop Rev's bony head nervously, trying to calm Rev's nerves along with his own. He was starting his journey now, and there was no turning back...A Venusaur called out its name before falling silent, breaking Frai's tension he felt and the thickness of the air. The Professor came back with two PokeBalls in his hands. Phanpy and Gible. But which one would he choose?
Frai blinked and swallowed, staring hard at the two PokeBalls. "Well the Gible in case you can't see it is hiding behind my desk," the professor pointed out. Frai turned his head to the sound of thumping on a table leg. The poor thing was covered in a bandage, and it gave him a grin of greeting.
But the Phanpy? Well, it seemed as if the Phanpy chose Frai before Frai could choose it. It raised it's light blue trunk in greeting, running over to them in curiosity. Revelation chirped happily. <Saiiithaaa...?> he cooed, blinking down at the small baby Pokemon. Frai knew it then. He knew exactly who to choose. After all, if Revelation liked the small elephant, then he would too.
"I'll take the Phanpy," he said, quietly yet decisively, his face holding a determined expression. Revelation looked up and blinked a bit more.

The professor nodded as Frai made his choice. To him it seemed like a fine pairing. Hopefully Frai would feel the same way, Revelation already seemed to feel that way. Nodding his head the professor tossed the pink and blue bottomed pokeball to Frai, turning his head slightly he watched Bill, who had turned his back on everyone in the room and was quietly playng with one of his rubix cubes. His 3 fingered hands wee obviously unused to touching the puzzles, which meant he ws taking his time in turning back around. The professor smiled. "I do believe you made a fine choice." He did say that to everyone, though there was that one girl who had insisted on takig a dragon type even after being told it was very unlikely she could handle it. She had taken it ayway, and gladly he had heard no report of a girl eing ravaged and attacked by her own pokemon. Good thing for him. At a annoyed cough from Bill the [professor held up a finger and smiled. How could he have forgotten. "Oh yes the pack." Pushing it across the room like a shuffle board player the professor paused. Everything was in there. At least he was pretty sure on that fact. Bill made the packs as to assure that there were no chocalate chip cookes hidden in the bottom, or a book of extra hitns and tips. He had done that once or twice before Bill had began packing the kits. The Panpy mean while had begun to try and jump to touch Revelations boney skull. It looked like fun. Frai's eyes danced as he caught the PokeBall, staring at it awkwardly. Both Pokemon looked at Frai a bit oddly, Revelation's expression saying <What're you just standing around for?> and the Phanpy, headcock and all, asking <What's goin' on?> Frai blinked and turned the Pokeball around, inspecting it. He never really liked PokeBalls...he highly doubted that he'd be using much of any of his PokeBalls, unless if he wanted to catch one...
He took the offered pack from the professor gratefully and stuffed the ball inside. He grinned and slung the bag over his shoulders, looking once again at the admirable Bill standing with his back to the other two humans and the tons of baby Pokemon running around. He was fooling around with a rubick's cube, which made the blonde smile softly. "It really was nice meeting you all," he said, turning back to the professor. "I can't thank you enough. If you ever need help in the lab, please let me know. I really would like to help you guys someday," he offered, doubting that either of them would need it. Still, it would be so interesting to work in a lab like this, taking care of baby pokemon and giving them to starting trainers, making their eyes glow and heart filled with happiness like Frai's was.
He swallowed and looked at his two companions. Revelation blinked softly, cocking his skull in questioning. <Fannn~!> the Phanpy whined, still trying to touch Rev's head with his trunk. Revelation lowered his head for the baby to tag. The small bubbly thing cried out in triumph. <Fan! Fan! Fan!> he barked happily. Frai grinned. "Thanks again," he said to both lab workers, giving a nod to each. His eyes lingered on the Alakazam before he turned and walked out the door.
Finally. He was on the road, taking his first steps.
