//I caught fire...// Sharde leaned against a shady tree, near the lab, watching the happenings closely to deter her suspicion. She wanted to run down to the doorway, calling for the professor, and beg for her first pokemon. But Sharde had learned never to trust anyone and it had been only recently that she noticed signs of Team Pravus lurking about. She was sure that after all these years they had given up hope of her capture, and perhaps she could live her life normally, but Sharde couldn't forget her past as easily as that. She just longed to catch that sense of a rational lifestyle and receive a pokeball that held her soon-to-be companion.
With a sigh and a shake of her french-braided hair, Sharde began her trek towards the lab. Bag bumped against her back with every long step as she eyed the building determinedly. It was in a few short moments that Sharde stood staring at the entrance, chewing her lip nervously and holding a fist up to tap timidly on the metal frame. She stood back, wondering if her knock wasn't loud enough, and if she was making a big mistake.
Sharde fiddled with her necklace, running her thumb over the small gold medallion. She couldn't remember where the pendant had came from, only the comfort she got from touching the well-worn coin. The only other special thing was that the necklace still hung around her neck as a Rapidash, not that it was so important. Sharde pondered over pacing or knocking again, she quickly voted the latter and raised her hand once more. //...in this girl's eyes.//

James Mahogany toyed with the rubix cube in his hand. At that point he had a full side of yellow as well as half a side of red. He wasn't exactly the best at these cubes, as he'd been working on this one for an hour. But it wasted time. He had so much time to waste. But probably not for long, because today was the day a couple of trainers were booked to get their first pokemon. Giving another turn of his wrist to the rubix cube, he perfected a side of yellow. Then realising he wouldn't be able to make another side without ruining one of the previous ones, he growled and threw the rubix cube away, like he had with the last ten or so.
Smirking behind him, his Alakazam grabbed the cube with his telekenisis. In mid-air, without touching the cube itself, the cube was finished. Proffesor Mahogany turned around and scowled at the psychic type. "Ok, get that cocky smile off your face. I'm the proffesor, not you." The Alakazam laughed, he was pokemon rubix cube champion of Remoor. But now he worked to help Mahogany solve rubix cubes and occasionally do some actual work.
Upon hearing someone knocking at the door, Mahogany gladly got up from the Alakazam's taunting and hurried to the door. Prizing it open, James spotted a trainer standing there. The first thing he noticed about her was the firey red hair. Oh well, probably just dye. "Hello! Well isn't this a surprise? I assume you're here for your first pokemon, correct?"

//Wind only stirs...// Sharde nearly jumped with surprise when the door was pulled open to reveal a stately young man who was obviously the profesor. Her arms dropped limp at her sides and she blinked up at the man, her eyes flashing like dark champagne in the sunlight. It took her a moment to interpret his stare and a hand fluttered up to smooth her hair down self-conciously. "Uh..." she murmered. "I'm looking..."
Her voice trailed off, and she glanced away, embaressed. Despite her age, Sharde was always shy. And though she'd gotten better, it was still hard for her to talk to intimidating people. "My name is Sharde, I'm looking to get my first pokemon." The girl spoke up this time, finally able to meet his eyes and softly smile. "I hope this is a good time?"
Sharde was rather proud of herself. That is, she was able to form a decent introduction, other then stumbling along like a seven-year old. She flipped her side-swag bangs back as they covered her gaze with a firey fringe. Feet shuffled the ground, shifting her weight to the other leg, waiting for the profesor's response.
A pigey called as it flew overhead and Sharde looked up quickly to catch it sillhoutted against the sun. Pokemon were such wonderful and magnificent beings. But Sharde shuddered at the thought of all those whom abuse these lovely creatures. She would know, because she was one of them... //...the wildfire flames.//

"Sharde you say? Lovely name." Proffesor Mahogany opened the door wide to reveal his lab. Six tables were in the room, each with six pokeballs on it. "And you want a pokemon you say? Well, you definately came to the right place. Feel free to come in and take a look around." James smiled and walked back in himself. His Alakazam sat in the corner with a massive smile on his face, sitting in a pile of completed rubix cubes. Proffesor Mahogany gave him the 'not now' look and walked into the center of the room.
"Do you have a certain pokemon in mind? I assume you saw the message posted outside our door which told you which pokemon we have? If you have one in mind, just tell me. Otherwise I'll show you them all." The Alakazam got up, standing beside Proffesor Mahogany. "Ah yes, this is my Alakazam, Bill, he's my research partner." Bill nodded to Sharde, before walking off back to his piles of rubix cubes with a gloating look on his face.

//The heat of a blush isn't near...// Sharde felt her cheeks grow warm in a blush, not used to compliments, even in such a minor degree. She clasped her hands behind her back and followed the professor inside, her wide eyes roving about the lab to land on the alakazam and his pile of rubix cubes. She desperately tryed to cover her mouth as a stream of giggles escaped. The pokemon's smug satisfaction was amusing, and it was obvious he was overly proud of his accomplishments. The girl straighted as the professor turned to speak to her again, an unmanagable grin twitching at the side of her lips.
"Actually...uh...professor. I'm not sure I can place the names with the pokemon." she answered, her eyes following the alakazam curiously before wandering back to the table of pokeballs. "I feel so silly..." she murmered quietly.
Sharde smiled again as "Bill" was introduced. The name was entirely to funny, as the alakazam seemed nothing like a "Bill". Though Sharde imagined the professor was close companions with the interesting pokemon. She didn't know much about alakazams other then they evolved from kadabra and their first evolution was abra. She had never seen one in person, only pictures from books she had meticulously studied. //...the heat of a fire.// ooc) ugg, my muse is running on empty...

ooc; t'is all in good fun
bic;
James watched Sharde enter the room. He assumed her hair was either a touchy subject or stupid teens, so he decided not to pursue anything to do with it. Bill was still watching him, his eyes following him as he walked; as if planning to attack him. "Alakazams are so annoying. I should never have evolved that abra into kadabra, let alone into Alakazam..." He muttered, but Bill had evidently heard him, as he threw one of his spoons at James's head and he jumped up in pain. "Ouch. What was that for Bill?"
Remembering his guest, James brought she to the pokeballs. "No problem Sharde, I'll introduce them!" He popped open a pokeball on the first table. A green pokemon that looked like a ball with grass on it's head and a tiny leg emerged. "This is Selibulb, a grass type." Proceeding to the next one, a much larger ball shaped pokemon emerged from the pokeball, except this one was blue with an almost-purple head and four legs. "A water type called Ralsius. These are two fire types, Grista and Charmander." A Grista and Charmander emerged from their pokeballs. "Then we have Bulbasaur and Squirtle, one is a grass and one's a water" he said, motioning to the last two pokemon in the line.
"Is there one you like in particular?" He asked, rubbing the spoon-afflicted area. He hated it when Bill was so protective of his Rubix cubes and his current form. He had way too many spoon related bruises. "We have two waters two grass types and two fire types, so if you're interested in any just tell me, because I have plenty of each."

Sharde never mean't to laugh at another's downfalls, but the alakazam's spoon hurling habits was almost to much to bear. It didn't take long for the girl's attention to shift though, as the professor began to introduce his pokemon. Intrigued, she inched closer to the pokeballs, her eyes flashing maroon. At the green bulb-looking pokemon, her slender brows rose in surprise. She had never seen the likes before and momentarily wondered how in the world the pokemon got around. Distracted, it took her a moment to acknowledge the other starter pokemon. But when she did, Sharde nearly jumped at the words 'fire pokemon'. She glanced nervously at the professor, but quickly turned back to the two fire types.
Her steps brought her unconciously forward, to the Grista. She barely even looked over the others. A tentive hand reach out for the pokemon to catch her scent. "Hey there..." she said softly. "Um, Professor..." she continued without looking away, "This is the Grista, right? Is it male or..female? Does it evolve..?" In her excitement she babbled on, pale cheeks flushed and fingers barely brushing the pokemon's firey fur.

Laughing for a moment, he smirked at Sharde afterwards. "Of course, they all evolve. Grista's evolution is Horntorus" he said quietly, while Bill used his psychic powers to create an image in the air. It was a normal Hortorus, a wonderful likeness, but coloured in rainbows. "Well, that's its first one. Hortorus it's called. It's not coloured rainbow obviously, but Bill is a pretty awesome sculpter otherwise." Bill grinned ear to ear, changing the image to Koranto.
"That's it's final evolution, Koranto. It's both fire and flying, like charizard, and very powerful. It's a good partner, but they tend to be solitary kinds of pokemon. But I'm sure one of these is right for you, if you're interested in Gristas." James considered the pokemon in the back room. "We do have six other, rarer pokemon if you're interested." Bill disappeared into the back room, emerging with six pokeballs. "Dratini, Larvitar, Beldum, Smoochum, Cleffa and Igglibuff." He said, sending each one out as he said it's name. "I don't offer these to many trainer, but I get this feeling about you, well I guess I trust you to look after them."

Sharde tipped her head to the side rather quizzically. She had not expected the professor to show her more pokemon, neither had she read of more then six on the list. Though turned shy by this consideration, Sharde lifted her hand from the grista and meandered to the new set of pokemon. Vision settled on each of the creatures, one by one. Honored by whatever the professor had seen in her that earned such a rare selection.
Sharde paused at the Cleffa, her eyes blank with reminence. Something stirred the still ashes of her memory. A peculiar thought, foreign in her mind. Something had brought about this remembrance, only what, Sharde could not guess. One thing was for certain, she had sensed a familiarity about this little pink pokemon that touched her deeper then anything had ever reached before.
"My mother had a Clefairy." she barely squeaked out as the sudden recognition hit her like a ton of bricks. The girl reached clumisily for the table edge as she swayed slightly on her feet. She marveled at how long she was able to stand even being near a lab, but the memories were starting bear down on her and she suddenly felt faint. "May I?" she questioned, lifting her arms after a moment, stretching them out and wanting nothing more then to hold this tiny being as if it held some hidden shards of her past. "I...I..think I'll chose her."
