The girl cast one last longing look at Sunset, a sigh escaping from between her pursed lips. Like any prepared trainer, she had been smart enough to buy a flashlight, even at the exorbitant price off 200 P.D. she knew it was was a good idea. It was still around midday when she began walking toward the end of town, but as she approached R3 things seemed to darken. The sludh, and gurgle of swamp water was audible, and occasionally her tattered shoes foudn their way into a mud puddle. At the current moment all of her Pokemon were inside their balls.
Laan and Achilles needed some rest, and she really didn't think the others would appreciate being forced to walk in the swampy path. Soon the road sloped downward, and she found herself in the Latvia cavern. Without missing a beat, she turned the flashlight on, right bfore she was plunged into darkness. Swiveling it around she was able to get the basic layout of the tunnel, and every so often the light caught a pair of glowing eyes in the darkness. Images of giant monsters flashed through her mind, but through deep breathing the girl was able to stave off these nightmarish visions. The sound of hre footsteps was amplified by the natural amphitheater of the cavern system. Occasionally a noise would cause her eyes to swivel about, but catching nothing she moved on--blaming it on her mild case of paranoia.
She would likely use everyone but Achiles and Laan here. After all if she wanted her Pokemon to go to good homes, then she had to make sure they appealed to those who loved pokemon, who had beat the first gym themselves. Upon realizing that her hoody made it even harder to see in the near darkness, she yanked her hood from her head. Which allowed her pixie cut auburn hair to be shown in all of its mucky, tattered glory, along with a few brutal scars curving around her neck. The girl was careful not to place her feet in the various water puddles that pockmarked the floor. Then she came to a fork in the path, pursing her lips she decided to turn right, seeing as she remembered that being the right way--but she could be wrong.
Why wasn't she scremaing in fright right now? The dark held no control over her fear--or at least only a very small part. Oddly enough she liked enclosed spaces, it gave her ample time to sense an enemy, rather then having to examine a large area. Then the girl paused, and turned around. "I-s thi-s the right wa-y? Did I do i-t like I wa-s walkin-g in he-re from home or li--i-ke I cam-e from Suns-et?" Now her mind battled with herself which way to go?
A smile creased her features, and she tossed out Vermi, Tera, Arbori and her Taillow. "Ca-n an-y o-f yo-u sense fresh air?" The flashlight was directed toward them, and she was in a pocket of shadows. Therefore the scars she was trying to hide were as invisible as ever, the shadows acting as an impromptu hoody.
The Pokemon raised their heads upward and sniffed. All except for the Taillow--she glanced around the tunnel, and shivered. Where was the big blue sky? Where was the sun or at least the moon? It seemed her fear had finally been found, the bird was frightened of being underground, which made sense in a way.
Slowly all of the Pokemon shook their heads, and Aubre reched to her belt to return them, but a loud noise stopped her, and she spun about wildly, her flashlight flew out of her hand, and smacked into the wall, kneeling down she reached out to grab it.

It's eyes widened in surprise as it had stepped on a puddle, before it slipped and landed with a thud. <Ow.> The Nosepass mumbled as it sat up and rubbed the back it's head. The little pokemon had been following Aubre for awhile, very curious as to why a human was here. His mom always said humans were dangerous, but he didn't see why..She looked nice. The Nosepass pushed itself up with a small "Oof." and watched from a corner as the Aubre picked up her flash light. <Oooh~ How cool!> It said softly at the shinning light. What was that? And how did it create that light? His eyes sparkled with excitement at the flashlight, ignoring the other pokemon that Aubre had with her. It couldn't help but want to run over and ask a million questions about it. He was a curious one no doubt. But yet he seemed to be only a child, and a bit clumsy.
<Hey! Hey!> The Nosepass yelled, coming around from it's corner and running up excitedly to Aubre. <What's that!> He pointed to the flashlight in her arms. <How does it create that light! It's so small and compact! I've never seen one before!> He stared at her with big eyes, in hopes she would answer his questions. He didn't know that humans couldn't understand pokemon speak, but the look on his face you couldn't deny was cute, even for a Nosepass.

The noise had been accompanied by a splash, though it took Aubre a few seconds to comprehend tis. Still knelt close to the ground she swung the flashlight to around the area the noise had originated. But by that time the thing had started moving, it's stubby little legs thumping loudly against the ground, it was heavy--which probably meant it was big. All of hr pokemon had stiffened, ready to attack, and with a shaky breath AUbre turned her flashlight, catching the Nosepass just as it stopped. All she saw was a giant nose of red, and with a yelp she scrambled backward. The wall stopped her, or more precisely slammed into her shoulder.
Now she saw the previously monstrous creature as a harmless little Nosepass. It's expression adorable, and curious it seemed. Then the thing gestured to the flashlight, which clutched tightly in Aubre's hand it seemed. Suddenly it exploded , and began babbling loudly, making wild gestures. It seemed harmless enough, but with all the noise it would probably wake something up--maybe it was telling her to turn off the flashlight? Didi t hurt the little guy's eyes? CLicking it off, she plunged the group into almost total darkness, a small pinprick of ligjt from above was all that kept it from being so. A loud shriek caused her to turn it back on, swiveling the light toward the Taillow. The bird was shivering fitfully, its eyes tightly closed.
It was now that she noticed the fear in the young bird Pokemon;'s eyes, and nodding she returned the baby bird to its Pokeball, saving it from anymore torment.
The Bulbasaur devided to answer the Nosepass' foolish questions. But bfore Tera did so, she snaked a vine out of her bulb, and attempted to wrap it around the Noseass' loud mouth. It was rather annoying to hear it talk all the time. <Why ask a loser like her? She can't udnerstand a word you said--didn't your ugly mother ever teach you that humans are too stupid to understand us?> Shaking her head she took a deep breath and continued, tightening the vine everytime the Nosepass decided to open its big mouth. <That is a human contraption--A Flashlight.> Then she answered his next question, her voice riddled with impatience. <Batteries--and a thing called a lightbulb--at least that's how she tried to explain it.> Behind her the Caterpie and Meowth piped up: <Laan said it was a Illumise stuck in that tube.> <Damn Sharkbait lied to you you ignorant fools--> Tera grumbled, shaking her head at the stupidity of her teamates. <Course you haven't--its obvious you don't get out much--speaking of which how do you get out of here? The dark is wilting my Bulb.> The Bulbasaur finished, both of her eyes narrowed, daring the Nosepass to say anything stupid.
Then Aubre did something that wasn't at all her. She reachd forward and flung her arms around the rocky Pokemon. "You're so-o cute! Di-d Ter-a sa-y somethin-g-g-g mean? Course she did!" Then the girl remembered who she was, where they were, and what they were doing, and sank back, shaking her head. "So-r-ry." The girl murmured. The long unruly bangs of her hair dropped forward, disguising the sadness in her eyes. The dark had made her crazy--hugging Pokemon, and squealing like a Grumpig--it was rude, and no doubt would make the Nosepass angry.
Tera let out a snort of disgust, though what part of Aubre's act it was at was hard to tell.

The little Nosepass blinked as the human turned it off. Ready to object, he stopped and jumped to the little bird's shriek. His quickly looked to the poor Taillow. Was she afraid of the dark? More questions popped into his head, but he was much more interested in the flashlight. The Nosepass was about to shout out more questions if it wasn't for the Bulbasaur wrapping it's vine around it's mouth. The pokemon let it's arms hang low and leaned back, listing to the thing rant. He took no offense to the insults, just got lost in his own little world. Even if he asked the questions, he took no interest in the answers, as he stared at the ceiling of the cave. <Dunno how to get out.> The Nosepass' voice muffled in the vine of the Bulbasaur. <Momma said it's best not to wander to much near the end of the tunnels.> He continued to sway on his feet.
He took a bit of surprise as the trainer flung herself onto him and hugged him saying he was cute. he never got to finish his stament to the Bulbasaur. <Thank you.> He said smiling and remembering his manners. He blinked as she had set him down and had sadness in her eyes. Was she bipolar? It would be rude to say that out loud. <It's alright!> He giggled, a smile still planted on his face, before spinning to the Bulbasaur. <Anyway, my friends know the way out!> He said brightly. <If your willing to come along I'll show ya!> He was remembering his Zubat friends. They were so brave wandering around all the time, and finding the exits, but not without getting scolded by their moms.

The Nosepass' posture annoyed the Bulbasaur to no end. The bright lime green of her scales began to deepen through the shades off crimson, ending in a tomato red as she finished. Yet it seemed the Nosepass' found much more interest in the ceiling then her answers. Finally it replied to her well thought out replies--and it seemed that the first words out of his mouth were less then satisfactory. The vine currently circling the red nosed Pokemon's head whipped out, whistling as it moved. With a resounding clang the vine smacked into one of the cave walls, and a stream of insults was out of Tera's broad red mouth: <Do you always listen to what your momma tells you..you spineless, snuffle nosed piece of inattentive rubble?> Snorting she turned at a quiet voiced objection from behind.
Arbori raised a paw, and quietly tried to stop Tera's angry tirade: <Don't s-c-care hi-m and don't be so me--> A glare and growl from the Bulbasaur instantly stitched his mouth shut. Scuttling away, he cowered in the shadows, occasionally glancing up. Everytime he met the angry red eyes of the Bulbasaur, daring him to utter so much as another syllable. The Meowth tightened his paws, but said nothing to spark a argument-after all Tera would win. Eventually she turned her attention back to the Nosepass.
---
Aubre leaped away from the Nosepass like a venomous snake as he spoke. No doubt he had told her to "Get Off", which explained her rather odd reaction. Besides it was out of character for her to just hug someone out of the blue--to hug anything really. Slumping against the wall, she reached into her pocket, and pointed the Pokedex at the Nosepass, the screen displayed some basic info, rattled off the interesting fact, and died. The solar battery had slowly been robbed of vitality in the dark pit of the cavern. Stuffing it back into the front pocket of her muddy hoody she turned to the Nosepass, and in the gloom managed ti make out a grin on the little fellows face. Was it her apology or her hug that had put it there? 'U-u-mm.." The girl started only to be interrupted as the Pokemon took the lead once again.
---
The Bulbasaur turned to the Nosepass the vines above her head meaning to warn him: NO FUNNY BUSINESS <That's the first useful thing you have said this entire time Brat. Lead to your friends--hopefully they can listen better then you.> The Bulbasaur's white claws clicked on the rock floor as she walked back down the tunnel they had came from. After all it was the on;y place she could see to go. Holding her head high she ignored anything but directions from her companions.
The Meowth nodded vigorously, and tried to patch up any hostility or hurt the little baby might have felt at Tera's insults with a simple: <Thank you! That would be great if you showed us there!> After all the Bulbasaur didn't seem to understand lost. Frankly, he didn't like the cold, dark, and damp; although it was a step or two up from forests. With a sigh he gestured for the Nosepass to lead the way.
Running over to his trainer he laid a hand on her knees, and gesturing upward with his free paw, he helped her to her feet.
The girl turned on the flashlight, and followed after the Bulbasaur. "Te-r-a" The stuttered words echoed eerily in the confines of the tunnels. This would probably take a while. Why had the Bulbasaur take off like that--did she want to be rid of her so badly?

The little Nosepass giggled at the Bulbasaur's stream of insults, finding her words funny not insulting. He turned to the Meowth, and a grin stretched over his blue face. <It's alright! I don't mind!> He said happily. He turned to the human, as she was beginning to speak, but heard the Bulbasaur speak again. She liked to talk a lot huh? Turning to the Meowth again he nodded, and began to go after Tera. <They usually hang out near the entrance, but stay hidden from anyone who comes through.> He said, trying to inform them. He could easily find his way through his damp home, hearing cries of other pokemon besides himself in the matter. He heard a few fighting about something, but found no interest in their squabble.
As the entrance came into view, there was a tunnel to the left. <That-a-way.> He said, combining the three words in that sentence, and pointing his stubby arm down a hall. It was a tunnel that had a dead end, and where his friends and him usually hung out. It was obvious now as you could hear Zubat screeches coming from deep inside the tunnel, but if you were a pokemon, you could hear discussion. Probably for their new prank.

The giggles turned the Bulbasaur's tomato red face, a much deeper shade of crimson, similar to a fire truck. <You find those names funny do you? Well how bout these..> Tera proceeded to rattle off a string of cursewords and insults that would make the most grizzled sailor blush. Shaking her head she ended it by sticking her tongue out at the Nosepass. <You are an insufferable clod!> She grumbled to the Nosepass, and by the quick glance she threw to the Meowth to him as well. The little plant type was glad to free herself of the trio of goody two-shoes, she didn't mind the dark if it meant she could leave them far away.
"Te-ra wai-t up." Aubre stuttered half running in order to catch up with the Bulbasaur, she seemed angry. Maybe she needed a break? After all she didn't seem to have the nerves left to deal with a young Nosepass--what if she insulted something much bigger and meaner, who understood the insults she tossed about. At least the girl figured they were insults, after all she probably wasn't red-faced from yelling loving words of endearment at the happy little Nosepass. The Meowth half jogged beside her, his odd shaped body was not really made for running as much as loping, it was rather awkward for him to run, embarrassing to boot.
The Meowth peered at the Nosepass, seeing that he still seemed to be smiling he tentatively questioned the little guy to confirm this: <You're sure it's alright? I mean she didn't hurt your feelings?> Frankly anything she said to the Meowth hurt-- was the child ignorant of what an insult was? Any more questions were torn away by his straining lungs, that Bulbasaur could move.
With a gasp Aubre slowed down, and glanced down at the Nosepass. In the shadowy beam of the flashlight she could just make out the bright green plant type as she disappeared around the corner--she could handle herself.
The little guy seemed to be talking--maybe informing them about something?
<Wont we scare them? I mean we are coming through....> In his mind the Meowth imagined a gang of giant tree built creatures running him ragged through the cavern. Were those the kind of friends the Nosepass was referring to? A shiver ran down the petite feline' spine--he hoped not.
The Bulbasaur had stopped upon reaching the fork in the path, and there she sat. It was obvious she was tired, but she disguised her gasps by sitting in the shadows. This place was huge--were there truly no Pokemon who were up for a fight around here? Really, at this rate she would have to take on the Nosepass.
Then the Nosepass pointed down a dead-end tunnel to the left. The loud shrieks of Zubat, causing Aubre to pause--she mistook it for barking. The Meowth imagined that those voices could belong to any large tree creature. The Bulbasaur on the other hand tossed her head and galloped down the tunnel. Stopping in the center of the room she glanced about in the near black darkness. Nothing well except for the noises. Was it down the other hallway.
Taking a deep breath Aubre followed the Bulbasaur down the tunnel stopping and quietly saying: "Tha-nk you." To the little Nosepass. Then she was off down the hall, the shrieks glowing louder, as the Meowth attached to her leg grew closer. The flashlight in her hand streamed wildly about the room, and then it hit the ceiling.
The girl gasped, and took a few steps backward, almost tripping over Arbori as she did so. Zubats...wow... At first the ceiling had been alive, a undulating mass of dark blue and violet, but the noises soon made it obvious. These were the bat like Pokemon that she used to admire--the ones that flew without eyes. Truly amazing creatures.
Tera now saw the creatures. <Yo sleepyheads--your idiotic little buddy said you can get us out--so..if you could shut up and help!> She had to shout in order to hear above their high pitched cries.

<Not at all!> The Nosepass said brightly to the Meowth, still completely oblivious that the Bulbasaur has insulted him, and watched as the Bulbasaur went a bit ahead. Shrugging, he continued. <Well, they are expecting me since we were suppose to meet at our hang out, but then I saw you guys!> He started sounds a bit in a soft and wondering tone, but finished on a high note. <We don't see very many people come through here, mostly because they're afraid too.> He giggled happily, as they came closer to the cave with the dead end.
The Nosepass waited for everyone to go in hoping no one got lost in the walk here. He smiled and nodded to the girl, liking her kindness, but then as everyone passed, he ran behind the Bulbasaur as they came into a large chamber. As the Bulbasaur spoke, they went quiet.<Hm?> One of the Zubat asked. All at once they seemed to turn to the Nosepass. <Yo! Where've you been! We started awhile ago!> The largest one asked, ignoring the Bulbasaur. All the other Zubat, which were about five more, nodded. The Nosepass smiled. <I found these guys. They had this really cool thing!> He pointed to the flash light. <Plus they needed to find a way out.> The largest one nodded. <Well, you've come to the right place. We know this cave like the back of out wings!> The Zubat grinned at his knowledge, and swooped down next to the Nosepass.
<We don't get many others here, so it's nice to meet 'cha!> He kept that grin on his face, as the others nodded. They obviously followed the biggest one, like their leader. It was true though. He was the one who started this little club of pranksters, so they always followed him. <It might be awhile before we reach the end, and some pokemon might be a little angry that you'd be passin' through, so I advise to be careful, hm?> The Nosepass nodded with agreement. The rest of the Zubat were going to stay in the back once they left, to make sure that nothing came from behind and attacked.

The Meowth nodded. It was hard for him not to chuckle, this kid seemed to be completely ignorant of Tera's vain attempts to insult him. Harsh words could be beaten with kind ones, or in this case child-like naivety. <Alright then,..> Pausing for a minute he took the time to chuckle, and then he rexlaimed his position wrappe daround Aubre's leg. Glancing up he saw the ghoulish shadows the flashlight placed on her features, and couldn't help but shudder. Even in the darkness he could make out thin pink lines, pale skin, and of course the short ragged syle of her hair. Was the cave playing tricks on his eyes? Or did his beloved mouse like trainer really look so haggard?
The frantic, and slightly bemused Meowth, felt a good portion of his fear drain away. <So they expect you...> If they expected a visiotor, then they weren't likely to laucnch a full out attack on any trespassers. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. <I can see why..but at least there aren't any trees to attack you.> Then as if the mere mention of their name had called them, a gnarly vine popped up in front of the Meowth, with a yowl he leaped to th side, almost bringing his trainer down with him. The hole in the ceiling had allowed it in. After that he sank into a frightened islence.
----------
Now that they were all inside, the shepherd like Nosepass entered.
Instantly the cave exploded in nois as the Zubats turned toward the Nosepass. The Bulbasaur growled as they ignored her comments, and ismtantly turned toward the idiot. Just as she was about to give them all a piece of her mind, the Nosepas got to talking about them.
The Zubats surrounded them, well mroe accurately the Nosepass. Hoping it wouldn't scare them away, the girl turned on the Pkedex, and it repeated its earlier actions. Telling her all about Zubats-though she knew about them. After all before she was afraid of her own Shadow, se used to love the blind flying types--and even now she couldn't help but wonder what one felt like.
The Meowth realized that these guys were nothing to fear, as logn as they kept their mouths awa anyway. So he listened in amiable silence as they talked.
Tera scrutinized the leaders face. <Which isn't very well..after all with no eyes you don't even know what your wings look like!> The way they trned and smiled in unison scared her more then a little. But she would never let anything like that show. After all what would Shark Bait think? <Ysh whateva--Nice to meet you too--or something.> The Bulbasaur growled. Couldn't they get these useless niceties out of the way faster?
The Meowth smiled. <Really ncie to meetcha!> He purred, not yet noticing that his guides had no eyes he held out a paw to the nearest one. <Aubre probably thinks so too..> He added, after all she had no idea what they were saying.
<Careful? Who needs Careful? I'll boot any Pokmon that bothers us back to the hole it came from!> The Bulbasaur threatened, and nodded for the Zubat to lead the way, after they got out of here it was smooth sailing.
Aubre knelt down. "T-he wa-y ou-t then?" A shaky smile was present on her features, hopefully she had some grasp on the direction of the conversation. If not they could be talking about lunch--and not the cavern, and boy would she feel stupid.
The Meowth blanched at the mention of angry Pokemon, and was glad that tera would take care of everything.
