The thick foliage dimmed the bright noonday sun. Shadows and leaves shifted restlessly like beasts on the prowl. To one creature there was no beauty in the rough barked, leaved sentinels of he forest, the trees. The constant chirping, and squeawking of the forest's inhabitants had him set on edge. Both of his wide black eyes dashed back and forth, and the cat found himself clutching his trainer's leg. This impaired her ability to walk, but she didn't shake the cat off. In a way she understood his fright.
Aubre's lips werep ursed, and hse seemed oddly sad. After spending a few more hours with Reggie on route one she had walked back to Vhenkil, and had found none of her companions. they had abandoned her. Of course to skittish teenager that was a good thing, it made saying farewell much easier. Both of her hands were stuffed in her pockets, and she was trying to shrink into the ground. She had 3 of her pokemon out today, she would level up Laan next time. The first was of course her Meowth, he was the lwoest level, and also terrified. The second was a baby Taillow, still unable to fly it perched on her trainer's shoulder. Pulling leaves and dirt out of her short hair. The third was a little yellow dragon, both of his arms were crossed over his chest, and a constant growl was boiling in his throat. It was nap time, not walk around and hsiver time~!
Since there was no one else around Aubre's hood was down. The wind was foreign to her pale freckled skin, so much so it occasionally made her shiver. A jagged scar was visible under her bangs, it looked small, but in reality it stretched until about the middle of her skull, only her thick aurburn hair made it less then obvious. Both of her green eyes were directed at the gorund, meanign she wasn't really paying attention to where she was going.
<I can't wait to actually do something--> The Statilee murmured with a growl, it was as if his trainer was trying to be ignored. He had heard something about a "gym" thing it sounded like fun to him. Yet in order to do it he needed to train, and the quiet stealth his trainer moved with made it obvious she didn't want to do anything like that.
The Taillow's stomach growled as her eyes connected with something in the bushes. At the dound she dropped her trainer's hair, and looked down at her chubbyt belly, very confused. <Why am i hungry...?> The Meowth was the only one without comment. He was much to busy being frightened, and suspisous of the leering trees to listen to his comapnions.
Achilles rolled his eyes. <Where's Laan--at least he;s interesting.> Knowing his trainer didn't understand him the Statilee briskly walked to her side, pressed in the button on the fishes pokeball and let him loose.
laan blinked at first, and then started waddling besides Achilles. <Now.. hello all.> He was lagging behind, but not enough to be worried about. <Where the fuckin' hell we going Kill-eaze/" The fish asked with his odd accent, raising a eyebrow as the ocntinued. The two brutes were waiting for ANYTHING entertaining.

"Paras....paras...paras..." It's voice carried a bit in the deep forest. That's how the little bug pokemon would sound to a human. Really, it was counting. <One berry, two berries, three..> it said, as it continued to count the blue and sour Oran berries, and then placed them in a small pile in front of him. The Paras laughed to himself. <How lucky to find so many berries here!> he celebrated quietly to himself. Most of the Beedrills and other pokemon snatched them away before this small bug pokemon could grasp them.
He sighed outwardly at remembering this, but only to shake his head and continue picking them before someone came to steal his spoils. <Eight berries, nine berries..> He paused. Foots steps.
His small dot eyes quickly flickered over to the oncoming person. <Gah!> he yelled, <even worse!> Humans stole these berries more than anyone else! He jumped in front of his pile. <Oh no you don't you...> He paused for a second, trying to come up with a name of some sorts that would insult the human.
<person..?> it was more of a question than a statment. He then realized how dumb that sounded, but just shook his claw at Aubre. <Don't come any closer!>

<What comes after nine Arbori?> The Taillow asked from Aubre's shoulder, drawing a look of puzzlement from everyone. The shivering Meowth was to busy being paranoid to hear the inquiry. <Why?> <Yes wh' do you ask birdbrain? Ten by the way.> First Achilles questioned, soon followed by Laan's much more insulting query. <Because I heard counting...> The sharp ears of the Taillow had caught the sound long before those of her companions. Now the "paras" was audible to all, Aubre's face lit up in a shaky smile. Pulling out her Pokedex she flipped it open, just as she rounded the path.
The Paras was now huddled protectively in front of a pyramid of large blue berries. Oran berries to be exact.
Achilles smirked as this odd sight greeted him, slowly walking forward, his claws grabbing for one of the berries. <If you'll excuse me...> He mentioned offhandedly to the Paras. The Kreem behind him soon waddled ahead, reaching the pile first. Both of them smiled menacingly at the Paras, the one shaking his claw. <Careful where you swing that thin' bub you migh' 'urt somebody.> The mocking voice of Laan stated, the tone making it sound much more like a threat then friendly advice. Of course knowing the little Kreem it was a very serious threat, this thing didn't look at all tough.
Aubre pointed the Pokedex at the little Paras, closing it as soon as it had told her what she wanted. "Guy--s wai-t a minu-te." Both pokemon paused, and snorted. But wait they did. Reaching into her backpack Aubre pulled out another Oran berry, which she rolled toward the Paras. "I don't want your ber-ries. " She quickly waved her hands and shook her head in a dismissive gesture. Beside her Arbori's eyes flickered up.It was adorable, most bug pokemon were. <Closer? Is there something bad over there?> The frightened cat asked, both of his big brown eyes searching frantically for a threat.
The Taillow on the female trainer's shoulder stiffened as she watched the Paras move. <Can you tell me why you smell good?> She questioned it. Both of her wings ruffled as she did so, something was wrong with her stomach.
A loud crack sounded through the path, sending Aubrei into a kneeling crouch on the ground, her Taillow flying from her shoulder, and Arbori started running. his caramel dipped feet blurring as he picked up the path, until he was stopped by a oddly squish barrier, falling with a "SPLAT" he found himself covered in berry juice. A smirking Laan and Achilles looming overh him. <Look at tha' Paras--this ruffian just smashed all your berries.> <Now look he's licking away the evidence.> The Meowth paused, he had been cleaning his paws, but he hadn't-- <I wasn't trying to steal honest--the trees scared me and made me run away.>
Aubre peeked from under her arms, which were above her head, the source of the sound had been a falling tree branch, dry rot had broken the thing and it now laid behind her and to the left.
Beside her the Taillow sat up, blinking slowly, both of her eyes riveted on the Paras.

The Paras glared at the two, and then shrank back a bit. Obviously he was no match for them. He snorted, but didn't comment, but rather thought how this was, about the millionth...and second time this had happened.Plink
The berry lightly clinked his lower claw. He blinked before lightly picking it up. <Um thank you?> he questioned, <but um, no, there isn't anything bad...just some bird pokemo-mon-mon-mon!?..> he studdered as his small little eyes landed on the little Tailow. His clamped his mouth at comment. Oh he didn't like bird pokemon. He sucking in through his little teeth and breathed out. <I dunno....maybe cause I've been collectin' berries all day?>
Everything else happened kinda quickly. The blur by him was nothing more as the sound of the branch. His eyes flicked to the Meowth, now covered in berry juice. Then sighed deeply. <It's fine. Not the only time this happened..> he looked kinda softly at the pokemon. <Well just glad someones enjoying it...> He waved his claw and smiled lightly, though a part of him was kinda dragged down. Now he was going to have to look for another bush.
He sighed deeply.
"S-Sorry!" A voice cried. A girl, kinda thin with really long hair pushed her way from a few bushed as she seemed a bit out of breath. Her light brown eyes then flicked to the tree. "Get down there Dizz!" the girl yelled.
Apparently there was a Spinda up in the trees, and caused that branch to fall. <Meh, lighten up.> she giggled. <Fool, she thinks she can climb> A Grista said next to the girl. Apparently she had a few fire types on her hands.
The girl sighed. "Again..I didn't mean to scare you.." she mumbled. The Grista sighed. <You mean her...> he stated. She didn't listen and hung her head a bit. "Please forgive me." she said. Dizz looked a bit surprised. <Hey, hey, it's not your fault. I spaced out and the branch couldn't hold my weight..> The Grista gave her a look. <Nice, make Chii feel bad..> he mumbled. She shot him a glare. <Shut it fluff ball!> she hissed before grabbing the trunk of the tree and sliding down, before running to her worried trainer.

Laan and Achilles both sneered down at the little Paras. The snort causing a chuckly to escape from their mouths. <'Ey bub ya got a problem with us?> The Kreem asked, his raised eyebrow daring the little bug type to speak up , and affirm to that fact. <I Really don't see why, and I despise people who get angry for no reason> A loud growl rumbled in his chest, sparks congealing around his needle shap teeth, the flashes and the pops accenting the malice contained in the glance. When it was obvious he had nothing else to say, both of them nodded, satisfied that they had established who was boss around here. Of course both wanted to be the true top dog, but the fight would be to bloody, and much too close for anyone's comfort.
Aubre had no idea what the Paras had said, but since it no longer seemed angry she figured it was in no way mean. "Yo-u a-re wel-come." The young trainer said with a nod. Hoping that he hadn't said anything like "hello" or "idiot" , she figured there was a 99% chance it had been anything but thank you. But at least it was the ploite thing to say if it was.
At the comment the Arbori(the Meowth) vigorously shook his head. <Our Taillow is nothing to worry about, why don't you like bird pokemon? I dislik---> The trees above them rustled menancingly and the Meowth shut his mouth. He had been warned. Continuing to lick the blue juice from his thin velevety fur he paused to apologize once again. <Are you sure it's alright?> Being so used to Achilles and Laan he was waiting for some kind of vengeful plot to be enacted. <I could go look for some...> Glancing worriedly around the forest he turned back to the Paras, it was obvious he didn't want to do that at all. <Oh--umm..sorry --it doeesn't taste as good from the fur ..> He whispered hesitantly.
The Taillow nodded. <That must be it.> She chirped happily, nodding her royal blue, and red banded head. Although she didn't even like the smell of berries. <probably...> She added cautiously, her body shifting from foot to foot, and her wings twitching with adrenaline. At a concerned question from Aubre the Taillow twisted her head , and nodded at the girl. Indicating she was alright.
At the other trainers shout Aubre statyed,. Both of her eyes flickered up to the long haired girl. "O-h n-o it-'s all ri-gh--" Her green eyes soon trailed to the Grista, and her breath caught in her throat with a hitch. A shiver running up and down her spine, inside her mind was a storm of blood, gore, screams, and wicked laughter. All but the last belonged to her. The Grista than began to bark, this caused the spell to deepen. <Aubre?> <Oh lookit tha' bubs she's freaking out again.> <mama..> <Hey wimp!?> The last was Achilles, and with a snarl he galloped over her, and slashed his claw across her wirst. With a yelp she took a step back, the fog of bad memories clearing from her tight face.
Arbori's head snapped up, and he began to hiss. <You evil thing called the tree branch down, and you scared Aubre!> He didn't like those who scared his sweet shy trainer. his Spinda "Dizz" was now the enemy.
Aubre hugged herself, forcing the shivers to stop, and slowly bringing her wild breathing back into her control. "N--o It-s alri-ght. I shoul-dn't have be-en..standin-g.......und-er that branc-h." Both of her eyes were riveted on a pebble at her feet, there was no way she was looking up at that monster again. That Grista. Her hands dropped down to her hoody pocket, and she hastily flicked on her Pokedex. all of CHii's pokemon's data flowing into it. At the word "Grista" she barely suppressed a loud "yelp" although it was likely caused by the word "canine" and "Fire". Which was even worse then a normal dog pokemon, and it evolved into a evil dark type.
She wanted to leave, but oh how rude that would be. Besides what if the dog chased her, they could smell fear, she knew that.

The Paras shifted glances to the two larger pokemon. <I didn't say anything did I?> he said giving them little attention. That was an answer to both of their statments.
He shifted back to the Meowth covered in berry juice. <Because...we bugs are...um...how to put this...we just don't trust them as much.> He stated. <No offense..> he added looking at the Tailow.
<I'm positive.> he said softly to the Meowth. He breathed in again. He looked at the girl as she froze at the fire type. <Hey, you okay?> he asked softly as he could.
He didn't really want to scare her, but felt Achilles rush past him and cut his trainer. <Ouch.> he muttered, but that though cleared as the concern for the girl grew.
Guardian blinked as the girl looked like she was going to have a heart attack at him. Chii gasped lightly as the pokemon rushed and cut her. "Oh, are you alright?" she said very softly. She had her hands clampt together.
<Oh yea, nice job mutt. You scared her to death.> Dizz said. Guardian shot her a look but said nothing as the girl might yelp again. He let his ears flatten against his head. He lightly took his paw and dug a bit into the ground before laying down.
Kind of a sign he wouldn't do anything. He also hoped she wouldn't think he was going to pounce on her. He scooted back a bit. Dizz tried her best to contain her laughed at the way he looked. Guardian just shot her another look. Chii noticed this too. "Um, he doesn't mean any harm. He's really nice actually!" she tried her best to maybe settle this. Guardian still kept low while the girl yelped at his pokemon entry.
Now he felt bad.
Chii sighed deeply before taking out her own pokedex and heard the entries. Poor little guy. Kai mumbled. Yea. He's no doubt going to feel bad later as well. He is nice...really. Her eyes hung half open as she was in thought with Kai. And her eyes seemed to be distant as she just stared at the pokedex.

The duo glanced at the Paras. Chuckles rose from both of their throats, Achilles speaking what was on both of their minds. <You just did speak did you not? That tone sounded a little disrespectful to me.> This time the fish could think of nothing to add, so he slammed his fin against the ground, of course the rest of the devoloping (rather one-sided) tension was interrupted by Chii's arrival, and Aubre's slight breakdown.
The Meowth blinked. <Why...they do soemthign wrong?> Arbori questioned, on his route there were no bugs to see how they interacted, and now he was curious. Curiousity was soon replaced by concern, his poor trainer.
After the incident the first to recover was the Taillow. Laying one wing on Aubre's knees she shakily tried to have him answer Arbori's question. <What did i do?> The unblinking , slightly wicked stare, was completely unintentional. Aubre hadn't answered the question about her well being, normally it would have been out of her mouth right after she had stopped shaking, but now she seemed a little listless, tongue shocked, and more frightened then the Taillow had seen in a long time. Which only being three days wasn't that long at all.
Aubre felt a little over whelmed at the momnt. Everyone was looking at her, and it was freaking her out. So she spoke up again. "I a-----m fi-i-ine." The shake, and hitch in her voice made it very obvious she wasn;t at all "FINE" maybe "Terrified" and "nervous would have fit the bill better. Only after she voiced her thoughts, or lied about them did she relaize her arm ws throbbing, blood dripped from it to the ground. Of course she made no complaints about it. Just stared.
The Meowth turned to Guardian. <You did not do that on purpose right? Scare her?> Of course maybe Aubre was afraid of the trees, and that bear thing had caused all of this. In fact he was willing to bet on it. The trees did EVERYTHING!
Achilles smirked. <Well we figured out she doesn't like him, and she didn't like that Shinx on Route one.> So they were one step closer to connecting it, of course they weren't the same eleemnt. Hell they didn't even have the same tempermant. <My compliments, you just looked at her. I can't even get her to leave by scratching her.> Currently the yellow dragon was right next to her right ankle, his eyes narrowed slightly, even though his voice spoke of praise his eyes spoke of anger.
Laan was calm, he had part of her problem figured out. It had been emeeting the Torchic. <Fire..that's part of it bubs.> He said to no one in particular. The blue fish just felt he had to add his bit of wisdom to the equation. <Idiot that is wrong--she was afraid of the Shinx as well.> Achilles snorted, now taking out his anger on the little fish.
Aubre said nothing as they all backed up the claim that Guardian was a nice pokemon. He was a canine that wasn't possible. Of course she did glance up momentarily, caught ight of him huddled into the grass, and shook her head. Now he was readying a pounce, why else was he hiding all tensed up like that? "U--m.m....m" She had began to walk closer to Chii, glanced at Guardian a second time, and hurriedly skittered back. Shivers were still present, and through the whole bait and run bit her Taillow had sat on her shoe. <Mama...why ae you scared of him...> The little bird questioned, knowing she would not receive a answer.
Turning towards the depressed Grista the Taillow tried her best to reassure him. <You didn't do anything, maybe you scare her 'cause you're so strong...> Maybe that would make him feel somehhat better. Of course she doubted it, the Grista probaly felt lik she did right now. Which was of course, rejected, and guilty, the Paras was afraid of her. Even if it was waaaaay stronger.

The Paras sighed lightly. He didn't care much for these two who seemed to be the 'tough' ones of the group. He then shook his head. <You did nothing wrong..> he blinked and shrinked back at her gaze.
<It's just...some birds attack us bug pokemon, cause we're...easy...uh...> he tried to think of a word to replace 'prey'. <Easily beat.> He tried to answer both of their questions. His anxiousness was replaced by worry for the poor trainer.
Chii closed her pokedex as Guardian still keep low. <Not really..> he said softly. He didn't know why she seemed so...frightened by him when he did nothing. A bad memory perhaps? Maybe, but he still didn't want to take any chances.
He gave the yellow dragon a strange look at his comment. How was he suppose to reply to that? He just kept quiet and tried to avoid the gaze by taking his eyes to Chii's leg. He just shook his head as a reply to the bird.
It gave him some comfort.
Chii glanced back at her slightly distorted pokemon. He wouldn't even speak, maybe afraid she would shake and such again. Dizz made a face, before going over and lightly knocking Guardian on the head. He glared at her as she kept her fist on his head.
<Get up Ding Dong. Jeeze it's not your fault so stop acting all little and stuff.> She ignored his low and soft hiss. <Now get up!> she tried to shove him up, but he pushed himself down. <I want to stay down..> he muttered.
Chii spoke up. "Maybe you should leave Guardian alonre Dizz.." she trailed off. Dizz sighed. <Whatever lameo.> Chii softened her gaze, before gentlly going over and picking up the confused dog, and holding him close in her arms. He blinked as she smiled softly.

<Tha's wha' I thought bub.> Laan spoke up, his voice rushed this time through. Of course Laan and Achilles had both grown bored of messing with such a uncommitted oppenent. Besides they now had bigger fish to fry, well better fears to exploit anywho.
The Taillow shook her head. <Well picking on the weak is just mean! I would never do anything like that! Do I look like a monster to you Sir Paras?> Pausing she found herself unable to stop staring at the red shelled crustacean shaped bug. It smelt like the berries she had eaten earlier, except sweeter--which was odd seeing as the berries it had smelled sour.
The Meowth nodded, and crossed his arms over his chest. <It was the trees fault--the evil things! You didn't dso anything--and besides she does scare easily.> Which was completely true, loud noises made her jump, yelling made her more nervous, and being impolite terrified the hell out of her. <Although I don't know why...I mean compared to Achi--> There was a growl behind his ear, and he turned to find himse nose to horn with the angry little yellow beast. <Others.... you are rather nice.> Frankly he didn't want to be assaulted, unlike the dragon he hadn't even been in a real fight yet, unless the one with the shower at the pokemo ncenter counted.
The dragon raised one scale covered eyebrow. <I give you a compliment..and you don't even thank me--you are one ungrateful mutt aren't you.> Achilles was doing tis on purpose, he had no idea how he felt about this, so he decided to make the god damned cause of all this feel like a scum bag. He had to admit he was doing a good job. <Arbori could take that fire mutt-> The first piece was mumbled quietly to himself. <-maybe she thinks you're actually dangerous?> The way it was quivering in the sand made it quite obvious that it was in no way a danger to anyone.
Aubre winced , it felt like the traine rwas yelling at her. The tone did it. "I--am Sor-ry if he sta--ys ov--er the--re and awa--y from m-e he can ge-t up." Of course she hesitated ebven as she spoke the words, in no way did she really want him able to run and attack her. But the trainer seemed nice enough. Of course she had thought that about Leo, and her old friends as well, but one tuned out to be a psycho, adn the othes elft her because she was afraid to go outside.
The Taillow began picking her way towards the Paras, no one paid any attention o Aubre's side. After all they did have someone on the edge standing next to them, a wnadering baby didn't seem to important. <I want to know why you smell so good.> The bird stated simply.
"I do apolo-gize. I can mo--ve if I am in you-r wa--y miss." Aubre added, she could see as the girl bent down and picked up Guardian, cradling him like a mother cradles a newborn child. It didn't seem to want to eat her--but it was her FRIEND and COMPANION.

<Um..> the Paras thought. Yes! <No.> He shifted back a bit, kinda weirded out with the Meowth and it's strange hate of trees. He kinda felt uncomfortable in the whole situation for he was just kinda...there. He shuffled back a bit. He then gazed at the Tailow who hopped closer. <Aha..aha...well...> he sighed. <bird pokemon...um...eat..us...bug..poke-mon? Aha...> his whole tone was kinda shaky and nervous, in fear that she might attack him.
Guardian just gave the Meowth the same looks as the Paras did. What a strange pokemon. he thought quickly. <I suppose..> he said softly, still warm in Chii's arms. <Plus, I don't think thats much of a compliment.> he narrowed his eyes at Achillies. He didn't like that guy.
Mostly because he seemed to not be the nicest person to his trainer. Then again he wasn't about to object and start an unwanted fight.
Dizz made a face. <What do you mean it's the tree's fault. It's alive sure...but it can't move unless the wind blows it. What are you mental?> she questioned Arbori. <Look.> She went over and kicked the trunk of a tree. <See, nothing happened.>
Guardian rolled his eyes at her.
"Ah." Chii said softly. "Your not in my way...I was just walking through training...that's all." Guardian blinked again, and lowered his eyes. It's obvious Chii was a bit sad that he was.
So he had to perk up.
He looked up at her as she looked down at him, as he wagged his tail happily. Chii looked down and smiled lightly as Guardian buried himself closer to her as his face fell slightly. I have to keep her happy...I care to much for her..

A soft hissing sound came from the bushes as a lithe purple shape slithered into view. It slipped around behind the trainers, though it came afully close to Arbori the Meowth. Confident and comfortable in its home environment, the Ekans didn't even glance up at the two humans. It didn't seem to realize its kind weren't so often spotted in the woods here.
"Ekans!" The little purple snaked hissed, sliding up to the Paras. Very few of the Paras' Oran Berries had escaped Arbori's crushing fall, but Ekans wanted the ones that were left. And no puny little Paras was going to stand in its way. <Hey, you!> Was what it said in the Pokemon tounge. <All you had better clear out of here. This is our place now!>
As it spoke, three other Ekans emerged from the surrounding grasses, all hissing and spitting angrily. Each ones eyes began to glow a sharp blue color, standing out brightly in the dank forest light. They leered around at all the gathered Pokemon and trainers, daring them to come any closer.
Then without warning, the first Ekans darted forward and wrapped the frightened Meowth in its tight purple coils. With another loud hiss, Ekans began to squeeze mercilessly, waiting for the Meowth to beg to be set free and run away. <I said all of you clear out!> Ekans growled again. Its cronies began to follow suit, creeping closer to the Grista, the Paras and the Spinda.

<So why you so afraid?> The Taillow questioned, continuing her odd hopping walk. She didn't look like a monster to the cute littly thing, and she hadn't attacked him or anything. Then he answered. A chill flowed into the Taillow's heart, and she stared at him wide eyed--and extremely shocked. <You mean..Pokemon EAT other pokemon!? NO! This isn't something to joke about Sir Paras.> The little Bird pokemon narrowed her eyes, and hunched her shoulders forward, trying to appear threatening, and trying to make him fess up to his cruel little falsehood.
When no confession came she began to furiously shake her head.
The Kreem laughed, and shook his head. <It's called a food chain silly little bird.> He knew all about the food chain, it was a main factor of life under the water. The Taillow swiveled her head to look at him, and oddly enough the cold hearted fish, felt guilty. He had never made fun of a baby before, especially not one like this. The look in her eyes spoke of it all, a shattering of ones naivety; and a feeling of betrayal towards the one that confirmed it. Namely our dearest little fish. Of course the feeling didn't last for long, with a snort he turned back to where Dizz was currently mocking Arbori.
Achilles shrugged. <I guess what I want is not the same as what you want.> Frankly seeing the little mutt cuddled in his trainer's arms made his stomach roll, it was so sickenly cute~! Much to cute for him.
Arbori held up his paws towards the sky, and shouted. <They do bad things! They scared AUBRE! They made everyone hate me! And they scratched my coin!> The cat like pokemon yowled, placing a paw against the coin on his head. Right now he felt like he was being made fun of, and very unwanted. One of his moods was coming o-- <Don't mock them and then TOUCH THEM!> He yowled louder this time, closing his eyes and bracing himself for screams of pain. Yet nothing happened. <Wha...No...they..Brother told me..Achilles...Laan....But..wha?!> The cat mumbled, now the trees were conspiring against him to make him think he was crazy. THAT WAS ALL!
"O--h okay." Aubrem umbled, still scooting aside just in case the trainer changed her mind. Something scaly brushed against her leg, but she brushed it off as a tree branch. By now everyone had noticed the presence of the snakes, except Aubre, her fiew of the ground didn't have them in it.
The yowl of Arbori brought her to her senses, and she took a step back, finding herself eye to eye with a large snake. With a quiet whimper she backed up into the middle of the ring. Images of the dog behind her scaring the hell out of her. But Arbori needed help.
The Glowing blue of the Ekans caught most of the pokemon off guard. Both the Taillow and Arbori froze when it washed over them. Achilles and Laan both snorted.
The next thing Arbori knew he found himself coiled in the grasp of a large snake, and he began thrashing wildly, wasting what air he had left. <You are--*breathless gasp*>
Aubre still shivreing knew shee had to do something, and hoping they heard her over the Meowth's dying yowls she yelled, not a bit of her nervousness tinging her voice. "Arbori pry it off with Scratch, Chivalri, help Achilles with Peck." Pausing she slowly slipped back into her normal dislect. "Achilles Laan he==lp the Pa-ras." The pair of older beasts nodded, and both threw themselves at the Ekans coiled around the food.
<Those were ours you scaly Bastard.> <So you back off bub!> First Achilles and Laan threatened. A Thundershock coming from Achilles, and Laan diving in with a tackle, being careful to avoid the sparks.
The Taillow hopped into action, and at the same time Arbori swung out lazily with a paw, she pecked at the tightly coiled Ekans midsection, hoping to make it let loose. Of course the most important thing on her mind was--WHO THE HELL IS CHIVALRI~? Did she finally have a name? That would be awesome--or cool as Laan had taught her.

<Sadly it's not. Like he said..the food chain. It's something everyone dreads.> The Paras felt terrible for shattering the poor tailow's innocence. But what then, lie to her? Like it was any better. He looked at her and shrugged back. Not because he was afraid, but felt rather guilty. <Sorry..> he mumbled. He looked at Dizz. Why be so crule? He thought. He then looked at it's trainer, who seemed to be thinking the same thing.
Guardian snorted very lightly at Achillies. Weird that pokemon was. Dizz just smirked. <What'd I tell ya! Nuthin'> she crossed her arms. <Your just metal..> she said, laughing. <Dizz.> Guardian snapped, and they both shot deep glares at eachother. <What? I can't have fun with the little mental cat?> she made the last three words into baby talk. <No.> Guardian spat. The bear was pushing it.
His eyes narrowed at the sound of the Ekans. Guardian leaped out of Chii's arms and growled at the oncoming snakes. Chii gasped and stepped back a bit as Dizz also got in front of her. <Hey girl!> the bear pokemon yelled. <Get out of there!> As she didn't move, Dizz snorted, before rushing in front of the girl. <Come on slimy!> she said, holding her fists in offense. She wasn't going to let this little slime ball beat her.
<Hey kid!> Guardian yelled to the Meowth. He looked to Chii. She gave him a look. "Go help him." she said. He blinked, then nodded. He rushed over to bite the Ekans.Chii flickered her hand and threw out another pokeball. Out came the little Phione, Yang. <Hm?> his eyes landed on the Ekans. <Oh, fun.> he said. He smirked, floating a bit in the air.The Ekans began to close in as he blew out a bubble attack at them.
Now a big battle was going on.
The Paras also got in front of Aubre. He needed to repay her for that berry. <Don't worry trainer. We got this.> Dizz smirked. <Good luck keeping up.> The Paras also smiled. <Sure. We'll see about that.>

The first Ekans hissed in pain as Guardian sank his teeth into its coiled body, followed by attacks from the Tailow and the Meowth. It grudgingly released the Meowth and turned on Guardian, mouth open and fangs bared. <I'll teach you a lesson!> It snarled. The Ekans then took a deep breath and spat out a barrage of poison barbs aimed at the Grista and the Meowth. <Now all of you clear out now!>
Two of the other Ekans circled meanacingly around Dizz and Yang. Their eyes flicked from the trainer and her Pokemon and back to each other, as if they were communicating silently. They didn't make a move yet, but subtly closed in on the two, making each circle around tighter and tighter until they were each close enough to lash out and strike with their outstretched fangs. The two Ekans didn't speak, only slithered about and matched each other move for move.
The last Ekans was sneaking up behind Paras, gathering up the remains of his stash of Oran berries. Ekans worked quietly and determinedly. After all, the boss had entrusted it with the very important job of retreaving the loot. What good would this attack be if it messed it up? The others would never let him live it down! Just don't turn around, little buggy. The Ekans prayed silently. Just don't turn around until I've done my job.
It looked up and glanced around briefly to make sure no one had noticed him, when he saw Achilles and Laan charging towards him. The Ekans let out a terrified hiss and tried to hustle out of the way-But it couldn't abandon the food! Gritting its teeth angrily, Ekans faced off with the approaching Pokemon and spat out some Poison Stingers. Hopefully that would hold them off.

The Taillow stopped her hunched over stare. Flinchign back as if struck she looked at the Paras, obviously very perplexed. Laan lied to her all the time, but this little guy had no reason to do so. Had some part of her mind been wondering if he would taste good? Shaking her head one more time, she realized something. <What other kind of pokemon eat each--> The Question was interuppted as she noticed the Ekans and jumped into the battle. No doubt the chivalrous little bird would have fit in right with Sir Lancelot in a old knights of the round table tale. (well that cuts out that one)
The cat hissed. <The trees will teach you when the wind rustles , they'll grab you and not let you go. I really wouldn't mind if they did! IN FACT I HOPE THEY DO!> The Meowth screeched back, anger rippling up and down his poofed up fur in waves. Then he stepped back, tears pricking the edges of his eyes. That was so mean! I would never--I mean... The Meowth had never been angry at anyone before, just suspicious and cautious. Any further contemplations were threw out the windows as the heavy coils of the Ekans wrapepd aorund him constricting his airflow.
Aubre saw a flash of orange, and hurriedly backpedaled out of the way. Dear clouded her eyes, only after the Grista sink her teeth into the bitter hide of the Ekans did she realize that the target hadn't been her. "Arbor-i, Tai-llow, Leer Arbori, and go in for an--other pe-c-ck." Now that the dog was closer then ever she found herself stepping towards the edge of the path, ignoring her proximity to one of the Ekans, a snake was nowhere near as scary to her as a Grista. In fact she'd rather be sat on by a snake pokemon, then in a mile radius of a canid.
Then she found herself protected by the little Paras. "Tha--nk yo-u." Then with a shaky sigh she surveyed the battle. Arbori and the Taillow were now around the Ekans.
Then there was a cloud of barbs. The Taillow jumped in front of the Grista, pecking at the angry creature, while Arbori tried his best to look intimidating with another leer attack.
Aubre swiveled her head, the nervousness about the Grista gone. It wasn't so bad if she couldn't see him.
Laan jumped right into the cloud of stinger. <You fucking little twit that hurt! This shrimpy bastard is more the' enough for me Killease. Go take out the two 'round that whimpy little bear.> The fish chuckled as the little electric dragon snarled back. <I don't take orders from anyone. > A number of the barbs dotted his thick hide. But knowing that Laan had this covered he ran off towards the pair coiled around Dizz. Electricity spaarked around his face. And with a "thunder-tackle" he threw himself at the larger of the pair of serpents.
Aubre knew that those two had this rather well handled, but.... "L-a-an....?" WOuld the stubborn fish even listen to her? After all since she had him dumped in a bathtub at the last pokemon center he had done everything he could to make her miserable. Closing her eyes she let out a quiet order. "Pl-ease mo-ve out of the wa-y ne-xt time. U-ss-se Tack--" Before she had even finished the Fish had thrown himself to his left, and then sprung up in a flail, using his tial to try and slap the smug little Ekans. Landing back on his fins, he winced as he felt a odd pain in his tail. (605)
