The early morning sun shone down upon the earth and heads of its inhabitants. There was no uncomfortable amount of heat radiating from the fireball in the sky yet. That was why it was such a pleasant time. The chill of the night was still present but it was light outside. That's what Hessa loved about the mornings. It wasn't too harsh on her skin or eyes. It gave her the feeling of new beginnings. Of renewed courage. Of hope.
The fourteen-year-old hugged her grandmother and bid her farewell. The aging woman was not sad or worried; she knew that he granddaughter would be just fine. The trainer-to-be was a tough one and was always able to take care of herself. She didn't doubt for a moment that Hessa would remain as strong and courageous as she had always been.
The girl walked down the dirt path of her grandmother's small house, waving as she went. A smirk formed on her lips, an expression of pure confidence. Nothing would stop her from reaching the goals she set for herself. Down the road she went, that confidant expression never faltering. Her step was sure, no sign of hesitation leaked from her being. The house disappeared behind her, along with her beloved grandparent.
It didn't take Hessa long to get to the lab. She had located it the day before so that she would know where it was the next day. When she saw the building the girl couldn't help but breath in deeply. The smell of fresh air found its way into her nose. It was nice. So nice in fact that Hessa focused in on the sense. Everything else became a blur for the next minute. By the time she came out of it the almost-trainer was standing in front of a metal door. She blinked, confused for just a moment before letting confidence take over again.
To the side of the door was a note that told her to knock. Sure, why not? So the girl knocked and waited for an answer.

It was a lovely, sunny morning outside the lab as the Professor was in the kitchen making breakfeast. "How does scrambled aggs and toast sound Bill?" he asked to the Alakazam who was sitting at his desk reading a book. "Fine then. Just don't burn it like last time" sighed the Alakazam. The Professor was a bit annoyed at Bill's lack of faith in his cooking skills but decided to let it just slip this time. As he placed the bread in the toaster he heard knocking at the door. "Bill, could you get that please?" asked the Professor. Bill waved his hand and the door opened to reveal a young girl. The Professor placed the eggs in the frying pan before walking in to greet the new trainer.
The Professor strode over to the door to meet the young trainer. "Why hello there. Come on in" he said nicely. Bill groaned in annoyance at the site of her. "Not another one. Can't she come back later? Maybe another thirty years or so?" he muttered under his breath. The Professor took no notice of the statement as he beckoned the young girl in to the lab. "I'm Professor Mahogany but you can James and the Alakazam over here is called Bill" greeted the Professor. Bill raised a hand to the girl before going back to his book.
James smiled happily at the sight of the new trainer. "Do you want a cup of tea or a slice of toast?" he asked trying to stop her from feeling odd. "Oh! I forgot to ask your name! How very rude of me" he gasped. Bill just read his book quietly as they talked amongst each other.

((OOC: Nah, it's a good post. Especially for one that was rushed. ^^))
Hessa blinked in confusion. The metal door before her swung open but no one was on the other side. Well that was kind of odd. She scratched her head and peered inside. There was a man cooking breakfast. He put some eggs in a pan to fry before coming over to greet her. He was very friendly, it seemed. Much more welcoming than that other guy. Wait, what? Someone else was there?
The girl's yellow eyes scanned the room and fell on a pokemon; an Alakazam. He, apparently, was not in the mood to have the wanna-be trainer in his home. She didn't care about his not wanting her there; she paid no attention to it. When the man motioned for her to go into the lab and introduced himself as the professor and the Alakazam as Bill she couldn't help but grin. This was the man who was going to give her a pokemon. Her very own pokemon that would actually battle. Not like her mom's lazy meowth.
Hessa followed the man inside. "Don't worry about it. I'm Hessa Faith," she held out her hand so as to shake hands with the professor, "But you can call me Hess," she smiled at the professor, "Uhh, I guess a slice of toast would be nice," she accepted the offer to be polite. She wasn't overly awkward, perhaps there was a twinge of it there because she was just meeting the man for the first time and had to make a good first impression. After all, apparently he was a good guy, so why no? Normally she wouldn't care what others thought of her if she didn't personally know the person yet. She was just feeling a little different. Receiving your first pokemon did that to you. She just needed a few more minutes and she would be fine.
She fixed the sleeve of the black t-shirt she was currently wearing, which was over her black tank top, so as to give her hands something to do until the touch of awkwardness wore away. The sleeves were longish and so hid most of her tattoo, only the tip of the fading ink peaked out from under the fabric. She was also wearing her baggy brown cargo pants, as usual, which only allowed part of her sneakers to peak out from under the extra material.

"Why hello Hess. How very nice to meet you" he said smiling gleefully. Seeing enthusiastic new trainers always seemed to put a smile on his face. "Of course. It should be ready in..." said the Professor before he was interrupted by a ping in the kitchen. "That must be the toast now" he said smiling as he strode of into the kitchen while beckoning the young girl to follow him in. Upon reaching th toaster he took the four existing slices of toast, put them on a plate and placed four more slices of bread in just incase. The eggs weren't done yet seing as they were only put in a minute ago but should be ready in a while he hoped.
Upon hearing the ping from the toaster Bill grabbed the newspaper that laid on the desk opposite him and walked to the table that sat in the kitchen to get his breakfeast. His eyes had dark rings around them, obviously from a lack of sleep or from being woken up to early. He just wasn't up to patronising the new trainer today. "James, a slice of toast would be nice" he snapped crankily. He took a slice of toast from the Professor and poured himself a glass of orange juice before going on to read the newspaper. He clearly wasn't a morning Pokemon.
The Professor was a bit annoyed by Bill's tone of voice but just sighed and went back to cooking. "I should give you a list of the starters to look over while you eat" he said while taking a piece of paper out of his pocket. "Currently we have Selibub, Ralsius, Grista, Totodile, Chikorta and Torchic" he said happily while handing her the list. He took a second glance at the young trainer and pondered. "I wonder" he said in a very low voice. She seemed to have some potential in his eyes. He let out a slight smirk before talking again. "We don't usually offer these but I see potential in you. You also have the choice between a Bronzor, a baby Tapiir, a shiny Bellesprout, a Machop, a Cupie and an Aron" he said cheerfully. The one that he thought suited her in his opinion was either the Cupie, the Tapiir or the Bronzor. The only reason the Bronzor was in there butcause it seemed like a good, independant Pokemon like her. Cupie was there because of its natural nature and the the Tapiir because a baby like it needs a little love that it wasn't getting from the other Pokemon around the lab. The Bellesprout, the Machop and the Aron were nothing like her but maybe she would surprise him. "If you would like to know a bit about any particular on please don't hesitate to ask" he said.
Bill just sat by while tucking into his breakfeast and sneaking away an egg from the frying pan before burning his toungue on it . He cursed under his breath angrilly. He didn't care if the girl heard him. When did he ever care about them. He was just here to keep James safe and make sure he wasn't kidnapped in the middle of the night. He merely sighed and took another sip of his juice. This was going to be a long day.

((OOC: Ah, I didn't realize a starter pack was being given to new trainers. I suppose we can just assume that the pokedex and map listed in Hessa's application were received from the professor and the other items/money can be added to what she already has.))
Hessa followed the professor into the kitchen and watched the man place four slices onto a plate before inserting four more into the toaster. Hessa took one slice with a smile, "Thanks," and she took a bite. She didn't need anything on it for she was accustomed to eating toast without a topping of some kind anyway. There was no need for butter, jam, or peanut butter. A dry slice was just as awesome as any other slice.
Bill, that Alakazam, looked tired. The dark circles were easy to make out around his eyes and he was behaving like a complete crank. However Hessa didn't personally know the pokemon so for all she knew he was like that twenty-four, seven. Hessa watched as he took some toast from the professor, in quite a rude manner, and moved away with his newspaper. She took another bite of her toast. Ah, the wonder that was indifference for jerks.
The almost-trainer turned her full attention back on to Professor Mahogany when he mentioned a list of pokemon. Reading off a paper he started by informing her that she had a choice between six pokemon; two water-types, two fire-types, and two grass-types. The fourteen-year-old held on to her toast with her mouth so she could look over the list with both hands. However he seemed to pause to consider her for a second and added to the list, apparently this next set of pokemon wasn't normally offered. Hessa now also had a choice between Bronzor, a baby Tapiir, a shiny Bellesprout, a Machop, a Cupie, and an Aron. The girl's golden eyes seemed to light up at the sound of the list. There were so many to choose from!
She nodded at the professor when he finished naming the pokemon being made available to indicate that she had the list in her mind now. Okay, it was time for her to narrow the list down in her thoughts. Her eyes seemed to fade back down to their regular brightness and then keep dimming to look darker than usual; a mustard color. She was in her thoughts now, a serious state, to go over her options. As she said each pokemon's name in her thoughts she could almost visualize it.
Personally she liked the thought of having an Aron, Bronzor, Machop, Torchic, a baby Tapiir, or a Cupie. The other pokemon didn't really spark her interest as first pokemon. The thought of the steel-types was appealing sense steal was strong, hard to break. Machop was a fighting type, most likely able to pick up for itself and throw a powerful punch. Torchic evolved into a fighting type, she believed, which would be neat. Having the Tapiir from the age of a baby sounded cool too because she could teach it to be tough at a young age-- Hessa's pokemon were not to take any abuse. And lastly the Cupie; the creature, if the girl remembered correctly, was a dragon type. It was one of the great beasts that demanded respect. Oh, which one would Hessa pick!?
She held the paper in one hand and returned the toast to the one that was freed, taking a bite in the process. Hessa chewed slowly and when she swallowed she inquired, "Do you think you can tell me a little about the Aron, Bronzor, Tapiir, Cupie, Torchic, and Machop?-- If you don't mind," she added in, not wanting to sound as if she was ordering the professor around. Her expression was serious, determined. It meant she was really considering each starter.

(OoC: No problemo Thunder. We can just say they were given to her. You can have other random things such as a journel or something like that:/Ooc)
Mahogany smiled nicely at the girl and said "Oh not at all, i don't mind. After all, I am the Professor meaning it's my job to help you with things like this" said Mahogany smiling cheerfully.
"I'll start with the steel types. Steel is a noble type which both Aron and Bronzor possess. Steel types are also qite a hard pokemon to train considering their needs but i see no problem with you training them" he said in a very smart voice that seemed to have just taken over him. "Aron are a bit hot-headed at times from personnal experience and are vicious ruffians in battle, especially when they evolve. Bronzor are a more regal type of steel Pokemon in the sense that they are very justified and are very loyal to a trainer they can trust. If they find this kind of trainer they will defend them in battle until the bitter end" he said smiling. He loved to talk about Pokemon and their natural ways of life and how they usually act. He spoke more passionately with Bronzor which tended to happen when he spoke about a Pokemon that seemed just right for that trainer.
The Professor took a bite out of his toast and then began to talk again, "I'll tell you about the two flying Pokemon now. Personnally I think both would be a good choice for you considering a your personality. Tapiir are playful at times and and upon evolving become very loyal. They are quite loyal before that when they are still Tapiir anyways" he said a little embarressed. He didn't want her to think that they weren't loyal before evolving. "Cupie are very rare dragon Pokemon that become very attached to their trainers and are also very cheerful and powerful. Males only evolve once while females evolve twice though. If you do get a female then you'll need it to become quite attached to you first which I see you won't have a problem doing" he said with a slight gasp. That was quite a mouthful.
Finally he was on to the Pokemon that became fighting types. "Now onto the fighters. Machop are very powerful and determined Pokemon and never back down from a fight. They can also be rather hot headed and don't exactly think things through" he said whilst scratching his head. "Finally there's Torchic. They start out as a fire type but become part fighting type when they evolve and are extremely loyal Pokemon. They're a very good Pokemon to have possessing their type combo" he finished.
The Professor then took a sip of his orange juice before pouring out a glass for the girl to wash down the toast. He then heard another ping and went to get the toast and put them on a plate. After that he got the fried eggs and gave two to each of the three people in the room. Bill just snatched the eggs crankily and went back to his newspaper and to eating his breakfeast.
Mahogany pulled out a chair for the girl and he sat down into his. He thought she should sit down and mull over what he said whilst eating her breakfeast. This was a big decision she had to make and should take all the time she needs to decide what was going to be her first Pokemon.

Hessa looked right into he professor's eyes and took in every word he spoke. She would consider each and every pokemon carefully. With dark eyes she envisioned the pokemon that James could not see, they were inside her mind. He gave her a more complete breakfast, earning another, "Thanks," from the girl, and fell silent in order to allow her the peace to think. She finished the toast she had been given and drank almost half the orange juice to wash it down.
The girl was no longer awkward so sitting down in the chair pulled out for her and accepting the breakfast was not a problem. Still with mustard-colored eyes she ate, but slowly. Silently, and seemingly blankly, she would cut herself a piece of egg and slowly bring it to her mouth. Then she would chew... chew... chew, eventually swallowing to repeat the process. However inside the exact opposite was happening. Her thoughts were moving at the speed of sound! She was no longer looking at Professor Mahogany, she was looking at the images of the pokemon in her head. At least what she remembered about them in books.
'Okay... so Cupie, Machop, Aron, Torchic, Bronzor, or Tapiir? They're all great pokemon with the potential to become both physically and mentally powerful. However I can't take all six and it will be by my side for the rest of my life. So I'd better start to narrow the choices down, carefully.'
'First, the Machop. The thought of having a pokemon with such physical strength is very tempting. Imangine going into battle and starting off with a Dynamicpunch! That would be amazing to watch. Though I must also take the professor's words into account as well. He said Machop was hotheaded and didn't think things through,' It was true he would become powerful however Hessa wanted her starter pokemon to consider the situation too. After all she was inexperienced and didn't need her very first pokemon running off into battle and getting hurt.
'I guess that rules out Aron as well. The professor said that they're hotheaded too and are 'vicious ruffians' in battle. I don't think that's something I should start things off with.'
With a vacant expression Hessa continued her meal, which was so graciously given to her by the man who cooked it, 'Torchic is a cute pokemon but that won't cut it on the battle field. It would have a hard time with things at first, I think, and I don't want to be pressuring it to evolve. I wouldn't do it on purpose but by mistake I might be waiting for it to happen. Torchic could sense that and feel bad about itself. I really don't want that to happen. So I guess Torchic is out.'
The fourteen-year-old finished eating her breakfast. Wow, she hadn't realized how hungry she was until the moment she stared down at an empty plate. Well it would be good for the journey to come. After finishing her orange juice she looked back at the professor, eyes still dark.
Only three pokemon remained.
"Prof- uhh, James?" she said his first name rather clumsily, not sure if he would feel disrespected in her doing so. It's just that he said she could! Her eyesight did not falter except for the little trip in words where it focused to the side of the man instead. She looked back at him, "Can I please... see Cupie, Bronzor, and Tapiir? She wanted to be sure she was thinking of the right pokemon and to witness how they behaved herself before picking.
Cupie, Bronzor, Tapiir.
Which one would Hessa pick?

The Professor chuckled at the girl when she stuttered about calling him James but he said it was alright so why feel odd. He let everyone who came through these doors call him James. He just shrugged and watched as she thought about all the possible Pokemon available. It was a few moments later that she had decided on three possible choices which were all ones he recommended which made him glad that he managed to match her up with some Pokemon.
He then walked up to a door outside the kitchen in the main room and proceded to open it. Loud snoring could be heard from it until the Professor began knocking and whispered through the door. For a second it lookedlike nothing was going to happen until a large vine whipped out of the door with a box which was dropped into the Professor's hands before withdrawing back into the room. "Thank you my friend" he said before returning to the kitchen and the eager trainer, who was waiting to see the Pokemon.
Upon returning, he opened up the box and began rooting around in it until he found what he had been looking for. From the box he took out three oddly coloured Pokeballs. One was pink with a heart on it, one was a greenish-blue color with a tree like design on it and the last was cream with two green, diamond-like shapes on it. He then let the Pokemon free from their balls to see Hessa. Here they are. Take your pick" he smiled.

The man chuckled when she referred to him by his first name so she figured that calling him as such was fine with him. Professor Mahogany then proceeded to somewhere back in his lab to, Hessa assumed, retrieve the three pokemon she had requested to see. While he was gone Hessa picked up the dishes and put them in the sink so they could be washed later. By the time she returned to her previous position James returned with a box. After a moment of rooting around inside he found three interestingly decorated pokeballs and released the creatures inside.
She was so excited when they came out it was getting ridiculous. Her eyes were still dark but a great deal of interest flowed through them. Her mouth curved into a smile when the three appeared before her and she couldn't stop herself from holding both hands to her chest. A small pink creature was flapping around the room and a horse-like pokemon watched it rather playfully. It seemed like the horse wanted to fly too but was unable to. And lastly a steel, disc-shaped thing with beautiful yellow eyes hovered in the place it was summoned obediently.
Now came the moment when Hessa would choose her very first pokemon.
The Bronzor remained where it was summoned, hovering there. Intelligent eyes took in its surroundings and stored the information away for later use. The little orbs lingered on the professor, Bill, and Hessa, wondering if it was needed for anything.
The baby Tapiir was bounding around happily, chasing the much smaller Cupie. It's tail whipped around as it tried to jump to catch the pink creature. Meanwhile the Cupie was flying just out of reach, playing with the child. This was going to be a very hard decision to make.
Well... here I go...
The Tapiir was young and innocent, still only a baby. While she loved the idea of raising it from such an age she had to take the other two into consideration as well. The Bronzor seemed very intellectual and capable of battle, something Hessa liked. And last but certainly not least was the Cupie. The tiny winged critter also seemed intelligent and very friendly towards the horse. When it began circling the girl Hessa also noticed how cheerful it was. It looked kind of sweet, like it wouldn't hurt a fly, however Hess was aware it could probably destroy a fly and had the potential to become insanely powerful. The Tapiir was the same way but Hessa wasn't sure if she wanted to be the one to introduce it to battling. It was just so cute and innocent!
She looked back up at Professor Mahogany, her eyes lighting up. Her thoughts were fading to the back of her mind now so she could see and hear everything clearly. Once eye contact had been established with the man she voiced her decision, "James... I've decided to take the Cupie!" She looked confidant again but also relieved that a choice had been made. A smirk made its way across her lips, accompanying a peculiar twinkle in her eye. She could see the journey ahead already. It was going to be great!

The Professor chuckled before saying "Cupie dear, this nice girl wants to travel with you. Come meet your new trainer" he finished whilst beckoning the Cupie over. It landed on Mahogany's should and stared at Hessa in interest. She was a little confused but then smiled and landed on Hessa's shoulder. "I think she likes you" chuckled Mahogany as he then began moving to the same door he had already gotten the Pokeballs from and began knocking. A second later the door swung open and out came the Venusaur's vine carrying a nice red and black bag. He took it, turned to close the door and walked back into Hessa and her Cupie.
He carried the bag in and stared at it for a moment. "Something is missing, but what? he said thinking before clicking his fingers. From his pocket he took out a little key-chain with a heart on it. He attached it to one of the zippers before handing Hessa her bag. Your bag already contains your starter kit so now you just need this little girl's Pokeball" he said while gesturing towards the Cupie. He took the pink Pokeball with the hearts on it and handed it to Hessa. "Here you go my dear" he chuckled nicely.Nickname:----- Species: Cupie Gender: FemalePersonality:----- Level:5 Experience: 0/500 Attacks: $5000 Remoor Map Remoor Pokedex 5 x Pokeballs 3 x Potions 1 x Antidote 1 x Awakening 1 x Paralyse heal 1 x Burn Heal 10 x Berry Nickname:----- Species: Cupie Gender: Female Personality: ----- Level:5 Experience: 0/500 Attacks: [ul][li] Tail Whip [/li][li] Tackle [/li][li] Charm [/li][/ul]

The Professor brought the other two Pokemon back to their Pokeballs and placed them on the table they were eating their breakfeast at. Mahogany then picked up a slice of toast and bit into it and munched on it happily.

Hessa watched her new pokemon curiously as it landed on the professor's shoulder. When it smiled and moved to her shoulder she was confused, but only for a second. Then she smiled at the little pokemon, clearly happy with her choice. The idea that her pokemon liked her already was almost enough to make Hessa squee. Almost. She could hold back such temptations for now.
When to professor returned from his second visit to the closet he was carrying a red and black bag. It was nice; something the girl would have bought in a store herself if she had spotted the thing. Hessa and her Cupie watched to see what he would do with the backpack. He attached a key chain with a little pink heart on the end to a zipper and then handed it to the new trainer, along with the Cupie's pokeball. It was a bit amusing that everything matched, even her pokemon, but Hessa thought that it was a good idea.
While the professor put the other two pokemon away and went back to his breakfast Hessa reached into one of the many pockets of her cargo pants. When she pulled her hand out it was clinging on to the string of a small, silver digital camera.
She looked at the professor, a little unsure, "Umm... if it's all right with you I'd like to take some pictures," she switched on the little device and held it up, aiming at the man. She made sure the image was perfectly focused before snapping the photo, "Thanks!" Then she proceeded the aim the camera at Bill and snapped a picture of him as well, whether he wanted her to or not, "This way I definitely won't forget you guys."
Once she had photos of the two males in the room she figured she might as well take one of her brand new pokemon as well. Holding the camera out in front of both herself and the Cupie she took the picture. There, a nice one of the two new friends. When she went through the memory to look at the images and came to the one of her and the pink pokemon she decided on a name, "How about I call you 'Drea'...?" In response the creature flapped it's wings and cried out in approval. Hessa smiled, "Alright! Drea, it is!"
Trying her new backpack on Hessa turned to face Professor Mahogany again. She bowed respectfully to the man, "Thank you so much! You'll hear from me again!" The girl minimized the pink pokeball and attached it to her belt. She wanted to bond with Drea for a bit before putting her in her pokeball.
Hessa moved toward the door, waving goodbye to the man and grumpy Alakazam as she went, "Bye! Thanks again for the awesome pokemon and breakfast too!" And then she was off with her little friend perched happily on her trainer's shoulder.
