Blushing with embarressment, Skull began to scurry around and gather sticks for a camp fire. At least her mother had forced her to join Girl Scouts at some point, so she knew how to light a fire. Who would have thought any of would sometime come in handy? Skull criss-crossed a pile of tiny twigs in spot of ground bare of grasses and flammable things. Then she found some slightly larger sticks and built a teepee(sp?) like structure around the twigs. "Can you go find some bigger sticks and logs for me, Kurai?" The teen asked without looking up, the pot and this bucket with water." She gestured to the pot dinner would be cooked in
<I'll do it!> Redwing offered. He clutched both in his clawed feet and fluttered away to a nearby stream, where he filled them with water. Once there, it became apperant he couldn't carry them back. <Um...Help?> But he was too far away to be heard. Sandstar gave Fireball an exasperated glance and sighed. <It's alright. I think Skull's got it covered.> He assured the dishevled Torchic. <Let's go help Kurai with the wood.>

"Right-o." Kurai said. He did a barrel turn and walked off to find some firewood. He didn't do the barrel turn to show off, or anything like that. He was just bored. That's just how Kurai was when bored.
Fireball said nothing. She simply followed Sandstar.

(Come on now, you can post longer things than that.)
Once more digging though her bag, Skull pulled out a pack of matches. Perhaps it was not a good idea to put matches into the hands of a pyromaniac such as Skull, but if they wanted to eat then someone was going to have to light the fire. And since Fireball couldn't at this time, Skull was the only one with that power. And that power made her feel even more maniacal.
Glancing around to see that everyone else had gone, the dark teenager pulled out one of the little wooden rods and struck it across a rough rock until it burst into flames. Instead of lighting the fire, Skull then sat there giggling and watching the fire consume the matchstick. When it was almost to her fingers, Skull put out the fire on her tounge and struck another match. This one she actually used to light the fire. For the next few minutes, Skull fed the steadily growing flames whatever sticks and leaves were within arm's reach, waiting for the others to return with wood.
Sure enough, Sandstar soon waddled back over to the fire circle, dragging along a branch thrice as long as he was. <You probably want to break this up a bit first.> He suggested, knowing very well Skull wouldn't understand him, then wandered off once more to find Fireball and whatever wood she had found. Instead, he came across a stream where Redwing was clutching the handle of a water pale and fluttering furiously, trying to lift it. <Need a hand?> The Trapinch offered, an amused edge to his voice.
<Oh yes please!> Redwing dropped to the ground and stepped back. Sandstar took the handle of the pale firmly in his strong jaws and lifted it around to perch precariously on his back. Amazingly, he did this without spilling even one drop of water. Redwing nodded approvingly, obviously impressed by the dexterity of this funny little creature.
<Now you just follow along beside me and try to keep it from spillin'.> Sandstar instructed. The Spearow nodded again, eagerly, and hopped beside him as he began to trek back towards where their trainer had made camp. <And where'd that Fireball wander off to, anyway?> The Trapinch added suddenly. He had a tendancy to jump from one topic to another. Redwing shrugged.

In the trees three pairs of beady brown eyes watched. Two of them sneered at the group of misfits. The last stared down, rage filling his face. The trio was currently perched on a large hornbeam branch, the tree long dead, but the leaves still clinging gallantly to it's branches. The pair of drab brown birds shuffled along the branch. One pair of eyes was fixed on the Spearow and the Trapinch, and the other two were fixed on the pile of food in the clearing. Quickly they had a whispered conference. <I want the food--it was ours, it is in OUR forest after all.> <Yes. The food--I am hungry already..> The last, the strongest of the group shook his head. <Look at that smug little Spearow, and his red breast feathers, he needs to be taught a lesson.>
With a nod, and a silent finishing to the conversation they dove off the branch. Two of the Pidgeys winged silently towards the human's camp. The last and largest dove for the bucket on the Trapinchs back, his claws splayed, and hoping to catch the rim. No doubt both pokemon would ahte the impromptu bath. Which was why a smile , or a semblance of one had crept across the large bird's face.

The pale and dark-haired head of Skull looked up quickly at the sound of wings, and her eyes widened in alarm as she spotted two Pidgey diving towards her. Without thinking about what she was doing, Skull snatched up her guitar from where it rested beside Kurai's bag and held it like a baseball bat by the neck. "Come get some, birdies!" The teenager cackled. As they flew closer she swung the guitar wildly through the air, hoping to catch on of them. "Sandstar! Redwing! Get back here quick!" Skull called between swings.
Sandstar stiffened at his trainer's call, but before he could answer it something knocked heavily into the bucket perched on his back, tipping it and spilling ice-cold water all over him. The Trapinch gasped at the shock of it as the frigid water made him feel weak and soggy. Water is super-effective on ground, after all. Shaking himself angrily, Sandstar turned on his attacker and shouted, <Come down here and try that again, coward! Geez, where is Fireball when you need her?> He added under his breath.
Redwing, on the other hand, had responed much quicker to Skull's summons, jumping up as soon as he heard her voice. Abandoning Sandstar and the water, the Spearow took off and fluttered clumsily to Skull's side in only a minute. <Whatcha need, boss?> He chirrped eagerly, rustling his feathers.
Skull rested the guitar on her foot for a moment, exausted from so much physical exertion in one day. "Redwing! Use...Peck on that Pidgey...Now!" She panted, pointing to the smaller of the two attackers. Redwing once again lept into the air and slowly climbed into the air a bit above the Pidgey. As he summoned up the strength for the attack, Redwing's beak began to glow white until he finally brought it down on the other bird's back. And yet, Redwing made the mistake again of poking himself in the stomach as his beak completed it's arch back towards himself.

As Kurai picked up a few more sticks, he heard a noise. He turned around to see the Pidgey attacking back where Skull was. He reacted rather calmly to it. He whistled for Fireball to come. Then he remembered that he never taught Fireball to come when he whistled like that. Instead he called for her. "Fireball, where are you?"
The small bird Pokémon appeared from the bushes.
"It looks like we're in a bit of trouble." he said. "I think it's time you had your first battle. Now let's get going." With that, Kurai kneeled down for Fireball to jump on his shoulder. Once she did, he ran back to where Skull was. "Fireball, attack that Pidgey! Get close to it and use scratch!" he commanded.
Fireball leapt off of Kurai's shoulder into the air and got as close to the Pidgey as she could and scratched it with her nonexistant claws [I'm onto you Nintendo. <.< >.>]. She then landed on the ground and turned to face it. <So, what are you doing this for?> she asked the Pidgey.

The first pair of Pidgeys sneered at Skull, amazed at how bad a human's aiming can be, and they dodged the guitar with ease, flapping their little wings and screeching at the top of their lungs. When Redwing hurt himself, the first one laughed, amazed at the bird's stupidity. But he wasn't without stupidity, either. At that moment, the guitar hit him, and he was knocked to the ground in a bundle of feathers. Rage coursed through him as he rose in the air again, and flew at Skull with a Tackle.
Meanwhile the second one was surprised when he felt a stinging pain as Fireball Scratched him, and he swung around, narrowing his eyes. <That's none of your business!>, he twittered angrily, and then aimed a Tackle at the Torchic.
The last of the trio, however, watched the scene with eyes full of malice. He felt no pity or amusement towards Redwing. All he saw was an enemy. A trespasser on his territory. Silently, stealthily, he flapped his wings and flew way up high, then closed his wings so they'd be at his sides, and so he quickly fell, beak-first, towards Redwing, with a really fast Tackle-fall.

"Hah! Take that!" Skull cackled as she felt a satisfying crunch against her guitar, slamming the Pidgey into the ground. Pushing it away from her, she looked over her shoulder to see Kurai approaching. She flashed him a warm, thankful smile, then turned her attention back to the Pokemon as Sandstar shuffled onto the battle field, carrying a refilled water bucket perched on his back.
But before she could give any orders, the Pidgey she had knocked to the ground slammed into her stomach. Skull was knocked off her feet and crashed to the ground with a grunt of pain. She lost her grip on the guitar and it skidded a few feet out of reach. "Gerroff me!" Skull yelled, trying to push the Pidgey off before it could attack again. Her head buzzed and her back ached from the fall, but she forced herself to think straight enough to instruct her battling Pokemon. "Redwing, use Peck again-And don't hurt yourself this time! Sandstar, put the water down and use bite on this one!" The dark-haird teenager gestured at the one who had attacked her.
Sandstar gave his trainer an unamused look for stating the obvious, then carefully set the water bucket down next to the fire. The warm flames dried off his wet skin and made him feel a lot better-Battle ready. The Trapinch gave an angry snort and charged at the Pidgey on his trainer, jaws open and fangs bared. He jumped onto Skull as well and sank his fangs into the bird's wing in the same crippling move that had defeated Redwing earlier. Skull yelped in pain again as the weight of the ground-type Pokemon jumped onto her stomach as well. "Let's take the battle off of me, okay?!" She snarled.
Flushing with emberressment, Redwing glanced around. Fireball was taking care of the Pidgey closest to him, so instead he swivled his head around and finally spotted the Pidgey plummeting towards him. It crashed into him and the both of them slammed into the ground. The young Spearow gave an anguished cry, suddenly growing very angry. <What did I do to you, huh?!> Redwing snapped, pecking mercilessly at his attacker, who was still on top of him.

Fireball took the hit dead-on, and was knocked over. Though she managed to use the momentum from being knocked over to roll backwards and land on her feet. <Well, we're the ones you're attacking.> she said. <I think it might be out business. Just might.> She didn't bother to think about what the wild Pidgey's reaction would be until she'd already said it.
Kurai looked towards the third Pidgey as it fell into the battle. He figured that this one must be their leader. An organized pack of wild thieving Pidgey. Kurai couldn't help but think of when a similar thing happened in one of his video games. [Fire Emblem lol] He shook the thought from his mind and turned back to Fireball. Seeing her recover from the Pidgey's attack, he immediately ordered "Fireball, use scratch again!"
Fireball chose to get a little creative. Before the Pidgey could get too high into the air again, she ran around behind it and jumped on top of it. From there, she began to scratch at its back with her nonexistant claws.

(Yeah--^ ^--Glad your arm feelin betterer.)
The Pidgey chuckled, and entwined his claws in the fabric of Skull's shirt. Then rearing back he slammed his shoulder into her stomach again. <It doesn't even take me two tries to hit you--fatty.> Frankly he didn't want to mention the matter of size, after all he had a big target, and a lot of places to hit it. The Human had a guitar, and tiny fast targets; and yet she had hit him.
Yet before he could make another snide remark the human called out orders. The next thing the Pidgey saw was a flash of orange, and pain exploded in his wings. But unlike Redwing, he had his wings clamped in something before. So he rearec back his head, and drove his body, primarily his beak at the Trapinch's face, trying to take out his eye. Or at least make him yowl in pain. WHile doing so, he began shimmying his wing left and right. Eventaully hoping that the Trapinch's saliva woud lubicate it enough, allowing it to slide out. After all it was only a few feathers at the tip.
The Pidgey on top of Redwinf, removed all but his legs from the younger bird's reach. With a look of aloof disfdain he calmly replied: <I do not remember--after all I do not listen to insignificant, traitorous maggots.> A smirk crawled up his beak, as he slammed both claws onto the bird's wing. <I would knock you out now--but sadly--I want to make you watch thjs first.> Below him Redwing was free to move, and could easily usurp the Spearow's position, by pecking him in one of his unprotected legs.
The third Pidgey was in trouble. The ball of feathery energy that was the Torchic, was posing some major difficulties. <Shut up. Its our business, no yours.> The simple logic didn't weave its way into the little mud colored bird's skull. If it had, he wasn't paying nay attention to the question. Hearing the order, the Pidgey flapped its wings, trying to obtain flight. But before it had a chance the Torchic slammed into his back, and began to scratch mercilessly. Being face down made this a very hard thing to combat, but hell he was going to try. Bucking his torso up, he slammed his head back, to where he thought the Torchic's feet must have been. Hopefully that would make him free to move again. Blood dripped down his tortured back, that thing could scratch~! [/blockquote]

The Pidgey was mistaken, however, as Fireball's feet were on the other side of Pidgey, while Fireball's head was where the Pidgey expected her feet to be. This caused the Pidgey to fling its head back into her beak. The force of the impact, however, still caused enough momentum to knock Fireball off.
Fireball fell to the ground and landed on her back with a thud. slowly recovering from the fall, she pushed herself onto her feet and turned to face the Pidgey again. Fireball let out a sigh in response to the Pidgey's words. <You realize that doesn't actually answer anything, right?> she asked. <You need to be able to justify your actions somehow.>

Skull grunted again as the Pidgey's shoulder rammed again into her stomach. She flaid her arms wildly, hoping that a random swing would knock it off. The crack about her size didn't even register in the teen's befuddled brain; she was so used to always being called scrawny and small that a fat joke seemed more like a compliment. Even if Skull had been able to think of a good comeback, the weight of two battling Pokemon on top of her had knocked the wind out of her, leaving her unable to speak. The dark adolescent managed to cough out one word though: "K-Kurai!!"
An involentary screech of pain escaped from Sandstar and he wrenched his head back from the Pidgey's jabbing beak. A few feathers were ripped free as he did so, and Sandstar spat them out angrily. The Trapinch hastily backed off his trainer and waited for further orders. When they didn't come for a few minutes-that could have lasted hours-Sandstar took matters into his own stubby paws. <Get off her, you little winged rat!> Sandstar snarled, charging again. This time his teeth clamped down further up the wing, but he didn't bite too hard. Just enough to get a firm grip. He stumbled off Skull again and dug in his feet, throwing his head back in a sharp movement meant to dislodge the Pidgey from the teenager's shirt.
Redwing's mind was clouded by pain. He was having trouble figuring out which way was up, because the Pidgey had knock him into a spin when it sank its claws into the Spearow's wing. Dizzy and afraid, Redwing put all his energy into locating his attacker. It was his right wing that was in the most pain, so Redwing aimed a peck there. His beak glowed white again and he twisted around to slam it into the Pidgey's exposed leg. <Why don't you go pick on someone your own size!?>

The Pidgey fighting Fireball yelped, as beak met beak in a bone jarring impact. Stars spun , and darted across his vision, and a orange blur indicated that the Torchic was now off of body. With a high pitched shriek he brought himself to his scabby feet. Then staggered to the left, before regaining his composure. Fixing the Torchic with a beady glare he said: <Attack kind was that What?> Then he paused , as his speaking ability finally came into one piece. <What kind of attack was that ya prissy baseball!> <No I don't--IT IS OUR BUSINESS!> Thenwith his wings strung out behind him he dove at the Torchic, his beak primed to rend and tear something apart. Preferabbly smething orange and bird shaped. As he ran, he swept dirt ahead of him, hoping to cloud the Torchic's vision.
The Pidgey on Skull smirked. This was rather fun, watchig the human wallowing around like a dying magikarp and all, and that odd orange thing had been in pain. But no longer was he having fun, when Sandstar reared back, ripping feathers out. Yelling, the Pidgey jumped away from the vicious creature, unshed tears in his eyes. <Pulling out feathers is foul! FOUL FOUL!" It was like hair grabbing in a sword fight, taboo. Then the stupid creature did it again, and he felt himself flying through the air, his middle nail breaking off in Skull's shirt. the Pidgey landed in a disheveled pile a few feet away. Through the pain it called out: <FOUL! FOUL! FOUL!>
The Pidgey staggered back, as Redwing's beak slammed into his leg. Cursing loudly, he tried to repeat the pin, this time throwing his beak into the mix. Retorting to the Spearow while he did so: <You are about my size--but I am pecking at you--not picking on you!> A smirk appeared on his lips, and he raised one wing. Around him the other two spearows chuckled quietly, if they hadn't he would have murdered them both where they stood.

Fireball smirked. <A good attack.> she said. <Using whatever you can think of is a good idea. That's kinda how you get by. There's no fair and unfair in survival. There's just those who live and those who don't.> Fireball wasn't caught off-guard by the Pidgey's next attack either. She managed to decide what to do. She jumped into the air. She was the one guilty of miscalculation, however, as she jumped too late and was hit dead-on and knocked backwards. She managed to stand back up, barely. Just barely.
Upon hearing his name called, Kurai quickly turned and saw Skull. He ran over to her. "Are you alright?" he asked. He was panicking a little. He tended to over-worry. Something he would need to fix.

As the weight of the Pidgey was lifted from her by Sandstar, Skull pushed herself into a sitting position to address Kurai. Though her eyes were soft, as they always were when she looked at Kurai, her voice was irritable when she snapped, "Yeah, I'm fine, no thanks to you." She immediately regretted it, though. Getting short with Kurai always led to trouble, as he was very sensitive and would probably be apologizing for the rest of the day. Poor Kurai could never tell when Skull was just angry at everything else and not him. However, Skull was very upset right now and didn't feel like making her boyfriend feel better about himself until it was nessesary. Instead she pointedly turned away from the battlefield and started tugging at the talon caught in her shirt.
A painful crack came from Sandstar's neck as he flung the Pidgey off his trainer. Obviously his neck was not supposed to turn that fast. Eyes watering, the Trapinch turned to face the quivering pile of feathers that was his enemy. Shaking away the lingering bit of pain, he snarled, <If you don't want your feathers pulled, don't pick fights with Pokemon out of your league!> Sandstar, who did not have feathers or hair or tails to be pulled, did not understand the way it was a foul or the way it could mess up an opponent. He was just trying to get the Pigey off of Skull. <Come here and get some more!> The Trapinch taunted, using Swagger without waiting for a command. <Or are ya too scared about getting more of yer prescious feathers pulled?> Sandstar cackled menacingly.
Redwing was concentrating only on not getting hit again. He didn'trespond to the Pidgey's taunts, only noting the fact that thiswas most likely the gang's leader. Instead, he instituted a perfect backwards roll in midair to get out of the Pidgey's reach, then trust his beak forward and barreled into it when he was upright again. Such a manuver was difficult, but Redwing was small for his age, and very flexible. As he slammed his beak into the enemy again, Redwind also brought up his legs, running his talons over the Pidgey's once again exposed legs.
