Natalie approached the Professor’s lab, ready for the journey that awaited her. He said to be there around 10:30 in the morning, this way she could get started on her journey today. He suggested too wait another day but the new trainer insisted on starting today. No way was this girl going to wait another day when she could start today. She walked along the road slowly, keeping a steady pace. Right now it was around 9:40 in the morning. She had woken up so early today and just couldn’t way so she started early. Plus she hadn’t even thought about which pokemon to choose. So even if she did arrive early, which she probably would, she would still have something too do while waiting for the Professor to get done with his first client or trainer, whatever you wanted to call them. A woman passed by her smiling sweetly and Natalie attempted to smile back but she had to admit she couldn’t smile well on cue. The lady turned away assuming Natalie was just a mean girl and Natalie rolled her eyes continuing along the beaten path.
Her outfit was something simple but still presentable. Comfortable but somewhat classy too. She wore a short sleeved shirt that was white with a collar folded back. Along with the shirt she wore frosty blue pants, with speckles of white on them to match her eyes. Her shoes were simply flats that were white to match the shirt and they had a buckle towards the front of them. The buckle had no point really but it was cute anyway. The flats were cute but also very comfortable for walking and maybe even for running. She wore a belt slung around her waste which was white as well, but it contained 3 potions, and 5 pokeballs. Later she would add her starter items too it but obviously she didn't have them yet.
Before she had left Edward-her foster father-had told her about his first pokemon. He had received a shiny bellsprout for his. He said that the Professor only gave that too the trainers he saw much potential in. He said the pokemon had been a very difficult one too train, but it had turned out to be worth it. The bellsprout was still with him and rarely left his side. At first Natalie saw nothing special about the bellsprout but after a period of time she noticed how truely unique it was. Not just the color, this bellsprout had a very unique personality too. It was a level 79 bellsprout and could talk now but rarely chose too. Edward and the bellsprout appeared to have this special connection, they didn't even have too talk to understand each other. Natalie only hoped she would have this connection with a pokemon.
She pushed at the door with her hands, which were sweating profusely from her nervousness. Entering the lab, the man at the standing around the odd building smiled briefly at her. Natalie smiled back, attempting too be nice even though it wasn't one of her best qualities. "New trainer I presume?" the man asked, his voice friendly but still detached. "Yes, Natalie Kemp." she replied, flashing as confident smile. "Ah yes, I've hear about you. Excited are we?" he asked, teasing slightly all though she noted he wasn't trying to. "Very!" she replied. "Well why don't you go check out the starter choices than." he suggested, gesturing towards the wall. The girl nodded briefly and approached the poster.
Natalie examined the poster going down the list of starter pokemon, pointing out the weaknesses and strengthes of each. She also noted what she liked about each as well. "Grista?" she questioned it. "Hmm..Magnificent pokemon and all but it doesn't seem like me. I don't think I'm meant for fire pokemon." she stated turning down the first option. "That eliminates Torchi as well." she murmered to herself.
"Water pokemon? Maybe?" Natalie asked herself but just shook her head. "Possibly me but I don't like either choice personally." she said tilting her head. She enjoyed water pokemon, they would be fun to play with but she just didn't take a liking to Totodiles or Ralsius.
"I guess that leaves grass." She stated even though that was obvious. Thank you for that Captain Obvious. She thought, insulting herself. "Bulbasaur would be wonderful but they are out of stock." her voice upset and she slightly frowned. Eyes flipping between the Chikorita and the Selibulb she sighed, coming too the decision that she couldn't even make a darn decision.
Leaning against the wall, she sighed. "Maybe I'll just ask Professor Mahogany aboubt their attitudes.." she suggested to herself. Figuring that it was best she picked one she could best get along with. Hearing the creak of a door she looked up, wondering if it was the Professor. Could it be he was early for their appointment as well?

The door swung open, and even from the dark corner he was situated in it was easy to see the odd psychic blue glow of Bill's narrowed eyes. Other then that from the angle the fgirl was standing at nothing else of the pokemon was visible. "The sign said--PLEASE KNOCK--not stand there awkwardly waiting for the door to open, as if by magic." Some would argue that it had opened by magic, but to Bill things like him opening doors without touching them was commonstance. His yellow tail thwacked into the floor loudly as he addressed the girl one more time, the cool unemotional voice he possessed makign him soudn robotic in nature: "That meant come in." Just to make sure she understood.
"Natalie correct? Just a little early--he's outside. He should be back momentarily." The lack of chairs in the room, well bsides Bill's and the professor made it rather obvious that she was to stand. The Alakazam wasnt about to drag a chair all the way from the kitchen, to the middle of the main room just so she could be comfortable. She could stand like everyone else that came in here, if things went alright she wouldn't be here very long. If they went wrong--well he'd be happy.
Bill must have taken a class in how to make others feel rather awkward. His long snouted face was laid on his pair of three fingered hands, the palms facing upward. Both of his eyes were fixed firmly on Natalie. Every so often he would pipe up with a rude comment, such as: "There is such a thing as being to early--five minutes before is surely best." That was what it said in the books of 'employability' and 'manners' not that Bill had read much of th last one, he had found it drawl and had used it to warm the backyard when they had went camping one winter night.
--- Outside in the yard James had just finished his rounds. He had a whole half an hour before the new trainer arrived. Plenty of time to have a nice cup of coffee, and come back out here to make sure the pokemon ate their food. Currently all the babies were out and running about. Their little hooves, paws, and talons crunching the grass as they tackled and spoke to one another, half whispering secretively. Smiling to himself the Professor went to go and talk to them, he heard Bill's voice echoing back: 'to early' Oh Natalie must have arrived. Shaking his head sadly he abandoned any idea of a cup of coffeee, brushing the grass and dirt from his green vest he walked into the lab, barely remembering to grab his cane from beside the kitchen door. "Sorry for the wait Miss Natalie." The professor said with a gentle smile. His cane adding a third sound to his footsteps he walked briskly into the room, nodding amiably to the disappointed Bill, and grinning at the girl. "Welcome dear!" He said oudly, much to loud for Bill, who let his head fall on his desk with a audible 'THUMP'.
I cannot believe it--he must have trainer radar. It truly saddened him that his 30 minutes he should hve been using to teach he had been cut down to 10, and now James(the Ham) had the floor. "I am professor James Mahoghany--James if you do not mind Natalie." They had already talked on the phone, but some couldn't place a voice with a face. So he added that just to be safe, he didn't want her to feel at all awkward. That would be very rude!

Natalie glared at Bill as he swung the door open. She entered quickly before he decided too slam the door shut in her face. He was rumored to be a rude guy and Natalie could very well see that. Quite an attitude. Of course she had a big one herself. She was a jerk as well so she couldn't really judge. But she probably would judge anyway. "I was going too wait until 10:30 to give the Professor a break, thank you very much!" she retorted, reducing the bitterness in her voice as she spoke. She didn't want too offend him but she wasn't going to be a sweet nice person too him either, espcecially when he didn't deserve it, which frankly he didn't.
She noticed there was only 2 chairs, one for Bill and one for the Professor obviously. Of course she didn't mind standing. Just so long as she got away from here fast before Bill pushed her last nerve. She had a quick temper and it wasn't very pretty. Of course she definately didn't want the Professor to see that temper. "I'm sorry if I was excited." she muttered, this time her voice bitter as she rolled her eyes at Bill. Well obviously the rumors were true. He was quite a jerk. Opposite of the Professor completely.
Looking around the room she noted it's neatness but it was still not organized. Items appeared to be put on the shelf neatly. But they weren't sorted in any order of importance. Or in any filing system of man kind at least. Maybe there was a trick to the organizing but she couldn't see it and from the looks of it she highly doubted it as well.
Her eyes glanced upward as she heard echoes of footsteps approaching. The Professor entered the room shortly and Natalie felt relieved that she was no longer alone with the bitter Bill. "Oh no sorry for being so early." she replied apologetically, with a small smile. "I interupted your break. You shouldn't be sorry."
She closed her mouth quickly as Bill's head smacked against the table. She had too bite down on her tongue too stop herself from bursting out with a string of giggles. Natalie knew that Bill would probably notice that she was trying not to laugh but she just couldn't help it.
"Nice to finally meet you in person, James." she replied with a big grin. His appearance was much different than she had imagined but of course it was hard to pick appearance based on conversations over the phone. The girl was slightly quiet for the next moment because she was unsure of what to do, this being her first time in the lab and all.

" Well--he is not doing that much that requires a break--and besides he'd know you were here--especially raising your voice like that." The Alakazam explained cooly. Leaning forward he leaned hs head to the left, and the door closed with the movemnt. There was a loud audible click, much like that of a lock turning in the door. Which of course there was. A smirk rested on his long snout like muzzle, and is mustace wiggled as he let out a yawn. Teenagers were so moody, nad their taunts were boring as all hell. Not to mention why would she want to give him a break? "Like it matters." Excited meant that they ran about the lab screaming and yelling, they were annpying, not angry.
The Professor shrugged. "Being early cannot be that bad. You were anxious--nothing wrong there. No need to apologize." Unlike Bill he had experienced the thrill of receiving his first pokemon, and understood acting irrationally, he had actually gotten in a fist fight to pick up the last Charmander, and at the time had been sad to be elft with the bulbasaur. Of course now he couln't imagine life without Belair. The quiet well mannered Venusaur was a great companion, and a lot nicer then Bill.
Bill picked up his head and fixed the girl with a steely gaze. "I really do not find myself comedic." He hadn't been making a joke--so there was no reasobn to be laughing. Unless she was making fun od him--then she was a ass, only those that were asses mad fun of others. He knew that he fit that category, he just disliked others that fit that category as well. His tail curled up from the ground, and thumped moodily against the ground. He disliked being ;aughed at--if the introspective look at his mind didn't tell you that. Shifting his position he directed his gaze back up at the ceiling.
"You as well Miss Natalie." The professor replied with a grin. Over the phone he had learned that she was serious about this, and therefore she should have a serious pokemon to start out with. "Do not limit it to the list outside--" That would make it rather hard to give her a higher difficulty pokemon without knowing her tue opinions. If she had no idea about type then he could go to personality. If none of the personalities matched the types, then he would grab one that did and try that.

Natalie ignored Bill's remark not bothering to glare at him this time. He shut the door behind her, clicking the lock. His attitude was annoying, rude and overall very annoying to her. He seemed annoyed with her as well but she didn't care. Who cared what Bill thought anyway especially if he was thinking something bad. "Well he is a busy man with all appointments made so I say he deserves a break." she argued back, still looking the opposite direction of him.
Natalie nodded recognizing his understanding. James was quiet for a moment obviously remembering his first pokemon. From the hazed look in his eyes that was definately what he was doing. Of course most people would be excited about getting a pokemon the first time. Bill probably wouldn't be but he seemed to be leading a pointless life anyway.
The girl pondered over the two pokemon again wondering which one was too be best. "Professor..Oops sorry. James, what are the overall personalities of the Chikorita and the Selibulb?" she asked, her voice curious. She wanted a bratty pokemon much like her own personality. Serious but willing to have a bit of fun with her when it was time for relaxing.
Her eyes darted upwards to look at him again, puzzled by his comment that was partly cut off. Her eyes hazed over with a curious look. "What do you mean by "Do not limit it to the list outside??"" she asked quickly. "Isn't that all there is?"

"That's is what sleeping is for. Appointments? BAH! Those only happen once or twice every few months" Along with closing the lab after 8PM, not that he said that aloud. In the summer they chose two weeks to go on vacation, leaving a breeder from Vhenkil in their steed. He usually managed things well enough, gave out a few to many rare pokemon, but was able to handle it. Letting out a staged yawn he closed his eyes, both of his large ears listening to the conversation. Bill didn't sleep that much, and with those beasts running about in the cage outside, even a cat nap was a bad idea. Opening one eye he listened as the professor spoke; at least James was interesting. His ears twitching his familiar mellow voice reached down into their depths.
The Professor addressed her second question first. "Well--to most people--yes that is the case. But not for you." Not willing to explain why, or what he meant , he coughed, hoping to draw her attention back to the previous question. What type did she prefer? It was a simple question, and it woud make it much easier for him to give her a pokemon she would be able to handle comfortably, well unless the personalities clashed. Pausing he looked at her, and waited for her to speak. From her ealrier question it seemed she liked green things, or she just didn't like fire and water pokemon; which was a option.
"If you're more comfortable with Professor--then you can call me that--no need to apologize for being polite." Now he went back to the earlier issue, he felt that he needed to address them in order of importance. Well if she didn't pick a type then he was going to show them all to her, by taking her outside. Of course the loud noises might scare the hell out of her. The cage next to the baby enclosure 'LIKED' visitors. "Well if you do not wish to see anymore, and you wnat either Chikorita or Selibulb. I will tell you." If she still decided to stay with the originals he had no problem with that; in fact he deeply respected it. Leaning over his usless cane he smiled at her under the brim of his dirt covered brown hat. "No need to be nervous--this can take as long as you wnat.." Behind the dusk the Alakazam snorted.

Rolling her eyes at Bill, she glared at him ever so slightly. He was so mean, to the professor to. What a little..! Natalie cut off her thought deciding to let it go. Wasn't her problem. She would only be here for a possible 15 minutes more. It all really depended on how long it took her to decide what she wanted. There was Chikorita and Selibulb. But the Professor appeared to be hinting there were other options than those on the list as well. Tapping her fingers against her pants, she attempted to think on a decision.
His answers continued on but Natalie was still left behind on the words. He answered her questions but not to the point of understanding. The answers were twisted into confusing remarks. He didn't say much but his expressions did enough to confuse her for a couple minutes. "Wha..? [/b]" she started to ask a question but stopped herself. He would only give her more answers that would lead to her asking more questions and so on, in a cycle until she just stopped asking. "Well if you do not wish to see anymore, and you want either Chikorita or Selibulb, I will tell you." Was his response to her questions. What more was to see?? What other remarkable pokemon could be awaiting her attention? She didn't know whether she truely wanted to see more and turn off either of the pokemon but she was curious. " Ok than..Professor, I would like to see more." she replied, completely oblivious to Bill now.[/size][/blockquote]

The girl wasn't the only one who was growing bored, and annoyed at their verbal oppenent. Deciding to let her act like a child and stare at im with ice in her eyes he went to the shelf, grabbing a unfixed rubix cube. Sitting back down at his desk he began to quickly turn the panels, speeding up as tiime went on. Soon the cereuse side was done, followed soon after by the green, then the white. Sitting it on his desk he decided to wait until later to turn the last side. At that moment was when she decided to insult him; with her mind; which he just happened to tune into at that moment. A little what..hmmm..soo many words to finish that sentence. The following statement was directed t her telepathically, with meant that James had heard no part of it.
The Professor smiled, it was usually not right to be entertained by someones else puzzlment, but he wagered it was fine this time around. "well I guess showing you would be better---" This statement was idrected at himself, sadly though she still hadn't picked a type, so he would have to shoot off the entire list, in fact she had probably forgot about his first, and most vital question already.
The Professor nodded, gesturing for her to come with him he began walking toward the kitchen door. "They can't get out of the cage--no need to worry Miss Natalie." It was rather obvious that he was not referring to the baby pokemon, he just felt it wise to warn her before they even stepped outside. The insane pokemon would try to get to her, but as of yet the pokemon proofed cage had held it's ground, and won all the battles. Stepping straight through the kitchen he set foot in the backyard, where cries of happy baby pokemon filtered to their ears. Then there was a loud 'CRASH!' followed by 'SKARMOOOOOOOOOR!!!!" Which had likely occured the second the igrl stepped out, and now pressed to the side of the enclsure was a wild eyed skarmory, half of her beak gone.

Natalie felt something causing her mind to bug out a little and she glanced over at the Alakazam through the corner of her eye. Was he actually reading through her current thoughts? It was possible. She wished he wasn't but knew he probably was. Bill finished his little Rubix cube game rather quickly and to tell the truth she was quite fascinated at the speed. She couldn't even finish a rubix cube with 20 hours and he could finish it in under 5 minutes. Of course she wasn't a Alakazam as well.
Smiling back politely at the Professor she stood up straighter, ready to go take a look at the other pokemon. He appeared to be somewhat amused by her own confusion but she ignored it, trying not to be bothered by something so little as that.
Following after him, she attempted to prepare herself for what was behind the door. Of course he had insisted she shouldn't be worried, she still couldn't help it really. But she masked her nervous attitude well, as they exited the room, leaving Bill behind with his Rubix cube. They stepped outside and she noted all the cute baby pokemon, distracted by them. After a couple seconds she winced slightly as a Skarmory screamed at her. Holy Crap! She thought to herself, looking through all the interesting pokemon. The Skarmory continued to screech at the top of it's lungs but Natalie just continued after the Professor. "So what is all back here?" she asked, curious about what other pokemon she would get to see. [/blockquote]

The Professor lifted one clean, weathered hand to his mouth, stuck his first to fingers in, and blew. Instantly there was a cacophony of sounds, and the sound of tiny footsteps. Like a tidal wave the baby pokemon bowled into the humans. Except for one of the Trapinches, he just stared calmy ahead, completely oblivious to all that was going on around them. A Chikorita and a Torchic sniffed disdainfully as the other pokemo nclambered all over the humans. <So immature..> Stated the Cikorita, who received a chirp of agreement from her friend the Torchic.
The Professor was now laying on the ground, both of his brown eyes staring up at the girl. A smile was paced on his lips. In the storm of little pokemon it was hard to distinguish what exactly he had so he began to speak: "Well theres the starter pokemon you saw outside, trapinch, a shiny Bellsp--" Before he could finish the word Bellsprout he bursted out laughing, the Bellsprout had began to tickle him. The other pokemon liked he reaction and joined in, the Professors chuckles becoming louder as it went. "I am soooo ehehehe sorry Natalie." He stated as he rolled about on the gound.
Growing tired of this they all went to visit Kohane, alloting James the time to finish his earlier list. "machop--Drowzee--Tapiir and a lone Statilee." Hopefully she knew what thy looked like, or she could put a face to a name. Not that she had any idea what they did, of course lo9king around he could find neither Drowzee. At the girl's question the professor shook his head. "The insane, and those that trainers left with me--most are sooo dangerous not even the adoption center wanted them. A few are wil d ones with disabilites." Of course he kept the disabled seperate from the nasty.

Natalie stumbled as the Pokemon rushed around and under her feet barely keeping standing. She noticed the lonely Trapinch and wandered over to it, patting it lightly on the head. "Why hey there buddy!" she said nicely. Stroking it lightly across the back she smiled at it. "How are you today?" she asked. As if answering the Trapinch's lips curved upward in a sort of smile formation. Giggling, the girl stood up and approahced the Professor again.
The Professor lay on the ground laughing as the pokemon tickled him. He ran through a quick list before he was overcome by the laughing. Natalie covered her mouth as she burst out into giggles as the Bellsprout and many other pokemon tickled him. It took several trys to stop laughing but finally the girl gained full control again.
Smiling at him she considered the full options, now knowing what other pokemon choics she had. She felt quite special actually having the chance to be seen as a worthy trainer in the Professor's eyes. Worthy enough to receive one of the rarer pokemon. "Professor. If I may..Well..May I choose the Statilee as my starter pokemon?" she asked kindly, hoping to god he would say yes. [/blockquote]
