Silence as the soft, wispy strands of silver grass swayed in the Moonbreeze field. The moon hung, large and almost touchable from field. It would be a perfect place to play for pokemon who wanted an adventure into the night, or some other mischief to be caused. But it was quiet, no signs of anything there. Nothing seemed to interupt the night evenin- <WHAT!?! SPEAK LOUDER I CAN'TS HEAR YA!!>
"Giggle shut it!!"
<Well I would if the narrator lady would talk louder!!>
<Shut up you little brat! Your going to mess everything up!!>
<Your not helping at all...>
Ahem...as I was saying. Nothing seemed to interupt the night evening, until a certian pokemon decided to scream like a banshee.
<Hey!>
And scare away any life that could of possibly been there.
<Oh nice going Giggle!!>
<It's not my fault darn it!>
"Shadow, Giggle stop fighting.."
<I'm not arguing with this little blob!>
<Sure...that's why your yelling at him..>
<Shut up Ario!>
<See..thats arguing..>
<Will you shut the hell up already!>
"Ugg.."
Mion, the President of team Pravus, a feared team of elite experts and the most advanced pokemon, appeared in the field, along with her, ahem, advanced pokemon.
<Who the hell asked you!> Mion's gliscor, Shadow yelled in anger. <This is your fault in the first place!> He was clearly mad. <And stop narrating me dammit!>
<Quit it Shadow..> A Lucario came out as well, given the name Ario, he looked like the most responsible person here.
<Yea Shadow!> A voice copied. It was childish, but very loud. Giggle, the youngest of Mion's pokemon was in Mion's arms. <If it weren't for the narrator lady, we wouldn't exsist!>
"He has a point, Shadow." Mion spoke. Shadow looked shocked. <Not you too Mion...> She smiled. <Gah!!>
Now you might wonder why the president of Pravus and her pokemon were out here. There interest layed into getting a ghost pokemon. Not for anything really, just a personal interest into getting one. But god knows why all of them decided on coming out. Obviously it was going to be more trouble with all of them there.
"Okay." Mion began. "So what we will do it, if we see any ghost pokemon, Shadow, you charge on head first since we know you will anyway..." <Hey!> "Ario, you then attack from behind when the pokemon is distracted."
<What will I do?> Giggle asked. "Then you finish him with a Slam if needed." Mion said. Giggle smiled. <'Kay>
Hopefully, a ghost pokemon would show....

Ahem. Can I start now? You guys were so busy arguing and destroying what few shards remain of the fourth wall...didn't think I'd ever get the chance. Some people know how to stay quiet in a sacred place like this. Well...maybe it wasn't 'sacred', exactly. But it definitely had a certain...feel to it. He had been drawn here by that mysterious something, that same peculiar force that had attracted so many Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon. This place was the closest to home he could find in this foreign land, where stronger spiritual energies gathered than anywhere else in the region. As far as he could tell, anyway. He grew up with the ghosts in Kanto; he was in tune with them, with the forces they emitted. They were practically drawn to each other. Despite this, he had only one Ghost Pokemon with him, although it wasn't currently visible.
Things were quiet around Trace while he sat in a small circle, cleared of grass, all the nearby rocks used to form a circle around his small campfire. Everything seemed quiet, anyway. His Pokemon didn't have the impulse to regularly leave their balls, or at least didn't know how. If one got closer, however, you could hear quiet singing under his breath.
"And you may find yourself...living in a shut-down shack.
And you may find yourself...in another part of the world.
And you may find yourself...behind the wheel of a large automobile.
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife.
And you may ask yourself, well...how did I get here?"
It was a truly serene moment, until he shattered every hope he had at appearing to be any kind of cool, raising the volume of his voice as he continued singing, to the point that the somewhat far-off Mion could hear. Not that he could see her; if he could have, he wouldn't have been talking at all, let alone singing.
"Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down!
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground!
Into the blue again, after the money's gone!
Once in a lifetime! Water flowing underground!"
His voice returned to normal shortly afterward as he burst into laughter at his own silliness, chuckling to himself while he poked his fire with a long stick, almost expecting it to do something. He did appear alone, though anyone who knew him would know better than to ever think he were actually alone. Dirge, his Dusknoir, was almost always near by, and anyone who knew of Wolx's tendencies would probably be able to find the Houndoom in the nearby grass, stalking prey while keeping an eye on his trainer. A rather protective pair; over-protective, even. It was because of them he never had very many traveling partners. They scared all potential friends off, save for the toughest ones. And the tough ones always prefer traveling on their own. It was a little lonely, but at least he still had his Pokemon to keep him company.
His ears twitched, and the air around him grew colder. Dirge was indeed by his side, but he was hiding. Invisible. "You hungry, buddy?" He didn't wait for an answer before slowly reaching for his bag and unzipping it, digging through it for a few of the provisions he'd purchased before heading out for this little camp-out. "Wanna make some s'mores?" He laid a small package of chocolate bars in front of him, followed by a box of graham crackers and an already half-empty bag of marshmallows. He chuckled a little nervously, picking the bag up. It was still plenty for just him and his five-Pokemon. He really liked marshmallows, y'see. He'd been snacking on them the whole way here.

My apologies to you....anyway. Mion and the others were oblivious to the singing at first, completely lost in their 'hunt' for the long awaited ghost pokemon to show. It was Ario, who perked his head up to hear the singing.
<Interesting.> he said. Shadow looked up. <You find something?> he questioned. <No, I found a someone, instead of a something..>
"Hm?" Mion asked, then she heard the singing.
Into the blue again, after the money's gone!
Once in a lifetime! Water flowing underground!
<Wow. What a tacky song.> Shadow muttered.
<Dunno, I like it!> Giggle said happily. <You like anything..> Shadow said back. Giggle puffed his cheeks out. <So!?>
It seemed strange that someone else would be here at the dead of night, then again possible. Mion looked to the distance a bit. "Shadow, Giggle, Ario return." she said. Before anyone could reply, they were all returned into their pokeballs. "Come on Spike." she said, releasing her Luxray, who looked at her confused before his ears twitched at laughing.
<So are we hunting someone?> he asked lightly. "Sort of. Come on." she said. They began to walk to the noise, careful to stay away from anything that would make to much noise. They were quick, and very silent, almost like ninjas. <Believe it..> Spike said before getting hit by Mion. "Shush!"
She looked at a boy about seventeen or eighteen or so. <Why would he be out here? It's dark, wet, and smells like failure.> He was referring to the damp ground, which cause a woodsy smell to come into the air, even through the silver grass. He looked at the boy again as he began to make s'mores. <Lucky bastard..> he muttered, wanting the sweet taste of chocolate again. Mion sighed, as the smell of fire burned at her nose, as smoke began to cast a bit of dust her way, but was more interested in what he was doing out here.
"Hey kid." she said bluntly, before walking forward a bit. <Oh nice. Ruin the ninja mood.> Mion ignored him as she walked in plain sight, her eyes glowing in the darkness. "Why are you out here." she stated more than asked. Personally she could care less, but since no ghost pokemon showed, she'd have to settle for the guy with a Duskinor by him.

Don't worry about it. Just been a hard time at work lately. I apologize to you. Back on topic...
Trace looked up at Mion, his gentle smile turning into a nervous frown. "Oh crap. You, uh...didn't hear me singing, or anything like that at all, did you? Not that I ca--uh...not that it's import--uh...never mind, forget I said anything. What are you doing out here?" His rambling ended with a nervous chuckle and his reflecting her question right back at her. "Do you, uh, wanna s'more?" He gave another nervous chuckle and speared a marshmallow onto his stick, offering it to her.
Dirge floated over to Spike, looking the furry thing over, his great red rotating and shifting in its socket while the rest of his body remained motionless. <It's a Luxray.> He spoke in a quiet, eerie voice. <National Pokedex number four-hundred and five. The 'Gleam Eyes' Pokemon. Electric-type. High attack rating, above-average special attack. Everything else is...adequate.> He didn't seem to be talking to Spike. He didn't seem to be talking to anyone, actually; he was just simply...talking. <Signature attacks include the elemental fang series, most notably Thunder Fang, and Crunch.> Trace threw a marshmallow at Dirge, who immediately turned and caught it with the great gaping maw in his belly. "That's enough, Dirge. Don't want to irritate our guests, do we?" He seemed to finally have calmed down, leaning back in a more relaxed position than when Mion and Spike had originally shown themselves. "Sorry for the way I acted earlier, you...surprised me. As for what I'm doing here...I really couldn't tell you. I'm just, you know...here. Do I need a better reason? It's not private property, is it?" He asked, genuinely concerned. See, I have to say 'genuinely' or else it sounds sarcastic. Which it wasn't, I assure you.
"We were thinking of catching some training if nothing else came up, but now that you're here...is there anything I can do for you, m'lady?" It was a little difficult to address a woman he'd just met; she was probably older than he, and probably wouldn't appreciate any kind of pet name. But he didn't know what else to say. He felt rather awkward saying 'm'lady', though. Knight he wasn't. And he certainly didn't serve her. At least, not in any formal way. He'd be willing to do what he could, though. He probably didn't know who she was, otherwise he might not have been so friendly. If she wanted his help, it might be best if she not discuss too many her business plans. At least, not in-depth.

Mion smiled as the boy stuttered. "Actually I did here you sing. Your pretty good." It was true, even through the weirdness of the song, it was true. Spike, who stared at the Dusknoir pokemon, was making a face.
<A Dusknoir eh? A ghost type, number four hundred and seventy-seven in the pokedex. Has the ability of Pressure. Regularly seven feet in height and about two hundred thirty-five pounds. Good at elemental punches.> Spike finished. <See I know stuff to buddy..> Mion shook her head. "Thank you." she said softly as she took the stick and sat beside him. Strange for he to be so nice, but hey, so what?
"I don't believe this route is private property, if so we'd both be in trouble. It's just a bit strange to see someone out here awake at the dead of night." She lightly checked the marshmallow so it didn't burn. "And call me Mion." she said. She got enough of M'lady from Enigma and everyone else back at base. "I was just trying to find a ghost pokemon. Seeing I lack one in my group." she said as Spike walked over, eying her marshmallow that had gotten a perfect golden brown color. She took the marshmallow before giving it to Spike, who happily ate in, in glee at the fluffy treat.
"Though I do think it's nice for someone else to be out here though." she said, looking at the sky. It had been awhile before she really had gotten some spare time for herself. The only time she had was before she created Pravus, and even then she became loaded with things to do. She sighed at the thought before taking another marshmallow and began to warm it as the burning sensation of the fire gave the very woodsy smell that Mion liked.<Perhaps you should let Giggle have some?> Spike asked. <You know he'll cry when he figures out you had some without him.> He layed calmly by the fire, as it reflected in his golden eyes. "Maybe." Mion said, now thinking that the boy would ask who Giggle was. "Giggle's my little Ditto." she said. She knew Dittos were rare, almost everywhere, so he might ask to see it.

He smiled and gave a quick 'thank you' at her compliment, setting the bag of marshmallows between her and himself so they'd both have easy access to it. He did the same with the chocolate and graham crackers, a mild blush covering his face. He didn't receive compliments all that often; he really wasn't used to them.
Dusknoir stared right back, it's belly chewing happily (or as happy as a stomach can look) on the marshmallow it had been given. <Your knowledge is faulty. We Dusknoir excel in support techniques. Like Gravity.> His eye flashed black the and the gravity around Spike suddenly got very heavy, pinning the dog Pokemon to the ground without affecting anyone else nearby. It had taken a lot of practice for him to be able to hit small areas like this, but it was worth it. <Another favorite is Will O Wisp.> Small blue flames appeared around Spike, surrounding him. Even if he were able to move under the strong gravitational pull, he wouldn't want to do it too much for fear of getting burned. <Thanks to this, we can subdue opponents much stronger than us.> Trace looked irritated again, snapping his fingers in Dirge's direction. "I told you to stop that! You're being very rude to our guests!" He sighed and Dirge released his attacks, freeing Spike. He vanished after that, only his large red eye visible to the other as he hovered above the group, watching intently.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mion." He said cheerfully once all the commotion had ceased, smiling as he enjoyed his lightly toasted marshmallow, nibbling on it while it rested on the stick. Still a little to hot to put directly into his mouth, it seemed. "Any fan of Ghost-types is a friend of mine. If you really want one, I could help you track it down. Grew up in Lavender Town, all the way in Kanto. I'm very familiar with them. My buddy Dirge is the first Pokemon I ever caught. He's a little spoiled, though, and a know-it-all. If you couldn't already tell. But I'm rambling." He ate the marshmallow and grinned broadly, enjoying it thoroughly. "If you really want to find one..." He paused to lick some goo from between his teeth. "I can help you. Something of an expert on them, if I do say so myself. There are always new things to learn, though. Can't get a big head about myself." He closed his eyes and nodded at his own little bit of wisdom before applying another marshmallow to his stick.
"A Ditto? I had a friend who owned one of those. A brilliant guy, but a little...off. Almost blew himself up every day. I saw him. He mostly used his Ditto to help with his experiments, making him take the form of whatever tool he needed but couldn't afford. Rather effective. But I'm rambling again. If you want, go ahead and release all your Pokemon. I'll do the same, if you like. We should have enough for everyone to enjoy a s'more or two. Depending on how many you have. I only have the five."

Spike, who looked completely unaware that the Dusknoir was using something on him, looks at the kid. <You still haven't told us your name.> he stated obviously. <Also I wouldn't be surprised if Giggle blew himself up too. I'm also surprised his body hasn't died from his sugar intake every day.> Mion ignored him. "Thanks for your offer. I could use the help." she said softly, fumbling with a piece of chocolate and crackers.
Today, instead of wearing her normal attire, she was in a pair of jeans, along with a red tank top, but with a black sweatshirt that covered her wings. Not to mention her hair was down. Surprisingly she looked like a normal trainer, or traveler. She reached for her belt and took out her pokeballs. "I have six." she smiled. Before letting them out.
Giggle plopped on the ground for a second, confused until he saw it. <Marshmallows!> he yelled before running over to the bag. He gently tugged on Mion's sweater. <Stick please.> She smiled and handed him her stick, he then put on a Marshmallow and sat on Mion's lap while it cooked.
Shadow, however, glared at Mion for putting him back in his pokeball so early, but kept quiet and watched the fire as it burned. Blazer, sat down lightly, watching the fire with interest, wanting to catch something on fire, but decided agents it, while eyeing the Dusknoir just to be careful.
Ario sighed before sitting cross-legged, and looked like he was meditating or something. Lastly Kain sighed before sitting infront of Mion, enjoying the warmth of the fire agents his cold body. "Well that's all of them. Shadow, Ario, Spike, Kain, Blazer, and Giggle" she pointed to everyone of them addressing them. <Hi!> Giggle said cutely, waving his free hand before taking out the marshmallow out of the fire. Mion smiled at they boy. "So, your pokemon?"

"Oh! How foolish of me, I'm sorry. I'm Trace, Trace Tringham. Professional adventurer, doer of...uh...stuff." He was still working on a title for himself. "Your Pokemon all look excellently trained, if my opinion is worth anything. You've definitely got more experience than I do. Heh." He took three balls from his belt and tossed them forward, releasing the Pokemon inside. Boggle stretched and scratched his legs as he fell down onto his bottom, sitting next to Ario. <Hey there.> He said with a smile and a giggle, laying back with his arms behind his head. He didn't say anything after that, just looked up at the sky, staring vacantly at the stars above. Urzu appeared next, scratching his chest as he arrived laying on his side, eyeballing the pile of snacks that had been brought out with great interest. They weren't in arm's length, though, so he didn't bother trying to get any. Shimmer came into view standing next to Blazer, immediately gripping and hugging the Arcanine before realizing what she was doing. <Oh! You're not...I'm so sorry!> She blushed and bent to Blazer politely before skipping off to Urzu and sitting down behind him, resting her head on the large beast. <Heeeey therrrre...> She said dreamily, eyes closed and smiling.
"That's everyone. Boggle, Urzu, and Shimmer. You've already met Dirge, and Wolx is..." He pointed to the different Pokemon as he called them by name, looking around for Wolx. "That thing...it's never around when you need him..." As if on cue, his Houndoom stepped out of the tall grass and stood proudly, looking over to Kain for a second before returning his attention to Trace. "Ah. There you are. What brought you back?"
<I smelled another Houndoom. Thought it was odd. I came back to protect you.> He answered curtly.
"Ah. No need for that, though. These are our new friends. Say hello!"
He huffed and sat down by Trace's side, still giving Kain the eyeball. Trace gently stroked his Houndoom's back, forcing the creature to give a slight shiver of pleasure and breaking his tough-guy facade. "Once everyone gets fed, we can go Ghost hunting. I brought more than just s'mores ingredients just in case something like this happened. Always good to be prepared, right?" He smiled and took his now rather well-done marshmallow and placed it on a graham square, dropping a few rectangles of chocolate on top and meeting that with another cracker.

Blazer twitched, obviously a bit disturbed by the Ampharos' quick affection, before he shuddered. <Oh yea, your so the ladies man.> Spike poked while Shadow also snickered. He shot them a look. Giggle seemed perfectly happy. <Once I finish my s'mores 'kay?> he said, taking a bite of the gooey treat. Ario looked over at Boggle before going back to concentrating. Before Giggle took another bite, he stared at Urzu, wide-eyed, almost dropping him s'mores. <Woa! Your fat!> he yelled. "Giggle.." Mion sighed. "That isn't polite."
<Yea, like you one to talk.> Shadow said. Giggle gave him a look. <What you talkin' about Shadow?> Even if he was a little pile of pink...stuff.....he didn't look fat..atleast he didn't think so. Mion sighed. "Shadow isn't one for sweets so if you have something else that would be good." she said lightly to Trace. He has a nice name, she had to admit, not to mention it sort of went with his last name. She sighed. She wonder if they'll be able to catch a ghost with all of these pokemon before sunrise. she remebered that ghost pokemon usually don't come out in daylight.
"What I really want to catch is a Shuppet, but I will also settle for anything else really." she said softly, remebering a Shuppet she saw a while back, and really wanted one. They had been so cute and nimble. She smiled, thinking about it.
Really Mion wasn't all bad like the news had described, she just wanted to find that damned lab where she and her sister were held captive, then she might give up and leave to give Pravus to someone else. But she liked to do things old-fashon when it came to her own pokemon. All of her pokemon had to be caught by her or else she would not accept it. She sighed before turning to Trace. "So, might I ask," she began, "what's our plan." she smiled.

Urzu grumbled at the general uproar concerning himself and Shimmer, scratching his belly and...not much else. Shimmer came to his defense, though, resting her flipper-y arms on him and smiling. <He's not fat! He's huggable!> Urzu smiled but still didn't speak, something of a smug look on his face. Trace smirked at his Pokemon and tossed him a whole chocolate bar (after removing it from the wrapper), where Urzu promptly caught and ate it. Even if he didn't show it, he was immensely satisfied.
Boggle looked over to Ario and grabbed one of the long, silver blades of grass that surrounded them, chewing on it. <So...where are you from? How'd you meet this girl of yours?> Shimmer perked up upon hearing this, leaning her head towards Boggle and Ario. <That's not a very polite thing to ask someone you just met, Boggle!> <Whaaat? I'm sure he doesn't mind. He's a really cool guy, ain'tcha buddy?> He smiled and turned his attention back to the Lucario, slowly getting back up to a sitting position. <If it'll help you tell the story, I'll tell how our Trainer gathered all of us.> He reached back and plucked another blade of grass, offering it to Ario in friendship. <Boggle! Don't bore him with your stories!> Shimmer blushed deeply and looked away. She always got a little upset when Boggle spoke like that, considering she almost didn't make the team.
At Mion's question, Trace began to once again dig through his bag, pulling out a small, translucent jar of beef strips. "Got some jerky. Will he eat that? I think most Gliscor prefer live prey, but I don't..." He trailed off in the middle of his sentence, suddenly coming up with a plan. "Actually, I might know of a way to get that Shuppet you want. Whenever you're ready, let me know. We'll get started." He gave a nervous gulp; he'd have to sacrifice something precious to make this plan of his work, but it would be worth it to make someone happy. Maybe it was time he finally got rid of that ratty old thing, anyway...

<Huggable my ass..> Shadow muttered, to low for only Spike and Blazer to here. They both chuckled. Giggle, deciding that the big guy was okay, smiled. <I'm more than huggable!> he said. <I'm snuggable too!> Shadow looked at him. <That's the same thing idiot.> he said, before having a marshmallow thrown at him. <Hey!> He hissed at Giggle who was making another one.
Ario was actually one who enjoyed talking about stories. He uncrossed his legs and took the piece of grass. <Well..theres a lot to say.> Ario began lightly. Mion took the piece of jerky. <I'm sure he'll live without something still crawling around.> she said before throwing it to Shadow. He caught it in his claw before ripping some of it and chewing it, seeing as he somewhat wanted to listen to Ario, never hearing how Mion did catch him.
<I was about mid summer in the Tailow Dunes. Then I still was a Riolu. I was a lone traveler than, and I personally hated humans at the time. It was burning there I was sure I was going to die from the heat without any water, or food.> Ario said, as the memory began to become more crisp in his mind.
<I wandered around the Dunes, trying to find a way out with no prevail. My body was to tired to continue on, so I ended up finding a small burrow-like cave. It was dark and damp, away from the heat.>
<The only problem was that someone was already preoccuping that space..>
~~~
<Who the hell do you think you are!?> An Onix called. It was larger than most Onixs I had seen before. I remeber the terror that shot through me like someone pricking me with a needle. My legs felt numb while my mind was screaming for me to run..
Run far and fast...
But my legs would move, and I was glued on the stop. <Your going to be food in a second you damned rat.> it called. Nothing really registered into my mind what he ment, because I never knew a pokemon that had eaten anyone before. I searched for someone, anyone who might help. But the dunes were empty, just like my head felt.
"Blazer! Overheat now!" I remebered that voice was probably the best thing I could hear. Before I knew it the Onix had been covered in a blast of fire and I heard it screech in pain as an Aricane landed next to me.
<You okay kid?> he asked, voice a bit rough. I barely had the courage to speak at all, but simply nodded. That's when I saw Mion. She looked to be about nineteen or so, I never bothered to ask really. She looked at me rather confused. "That's strange, you usually don't see a Riolu out here." was all she said. <Yea, well maybe he strayed out from his family or something.> The Aricane suggested. I was expecting for he to not know what he was saying, so I spoke. <I'm not strayed, I'm a loner.> my voice was a lot more childish than I wanted it to be. The Aricane laughed. <Sure, for a little guy like you?> he laughed again while Mion came and picked me up. At first I was ready for anything...except what she helped me... She got on her Aricane and took me to the next city to a pokemon center. There is where I met all of her pokemon.
Surprisingly, her first intentions were to let me go, but I had grown so attached to everyone in such a short amount of time, I couldn't bare to go...but I went anyway. I have to say it was very lonely not hearing Giggle's constant rambling or Shadow's side remarks, Blazer's collect aditude and Kain's sense of protection, not to mention Spike's mellowness. Also, Mion's motherlyness. I wanted nothing more than to be appart of that team.
Eventually I went back, and there I began to train with them, and eventually got to be part of the team.
~~~
Giggle had been so wrapped up in the story, he didn't notice his marshmallow was on fire. "Uh..Giggle.." Mion spoke softly. <Huh?> he blinked. <Oh it's on fire....OH NOES IT"S ON FIRE!!> he yelled in sudden surprise. He began waving it around. <PUT IT OUT!!! PUT IT OUT!!>
Plop
He stared at the marshmallow, now on the ground. His eyes were as small as dots while he remained silent. <You okay little buddy?> Blazer asked softly. Giggle choked out some words. <Y-yea...I'll be fine..> he stared at the marshmallow, burned with a black outside while the skin was cracked from heat, now covered in a fresh layer of grass that made it shiny. Mion sighed. "It's all right.." she said softly. She heard Trace and his plan. "I think we're ready.." she said as Giggle mourned the loss of his beloved marshmallow, letting out soft sobs.

"Awesome. Let's begin." He gulped and dug through his bag, taking a small, pink, Clefairy plushie from it. It was torn in a few places, and had patches of dirt in others, but Trace still cherished it. But he was an adult now, it was probably time he got rid of it. Seemed to be going toward a good cause, at least. "The only one you're going to need is Shadow, I think. The others can stay here and enjoy each other's company. And the snacks." Odds were good some of them were more interested in the snacks than each other, anyway. I'm looking at you, Urzu. Toy in hand, he got up off the ground and brushed off some dirt and dew from his pants before heading off into the tall grass, beckoning for Mion to follow.
<Ha.> Boggle chuckled to himself, chewing on his blade of grass further. <Kinda reminds me o' Shimmer's story. Not quite as inspiring as your own, but still...>
<Back in Kanto, where Trace grew up, we found ourselves -- that is to say, Dirge, Urzu, and myself -- outside of Rock Tunnel. Way back then, we didn't look quite the same as we are now. I was still only a Marshtomp, Dirge was just a Duskull, and Urzu was a far more energized Vigoroth. You never would've guessed he was the busy body he was back then by looking at him now.> Boggle glanced over at Urzu, smirking as the great beast snorted at him. <Aaaaanyway, we go into the cave and it's absolutely pitch inside. Seriously. Trace takes two steps in and falls over, giving himself a nasty scratch on the face. So he decides he needs a Pokemon with Flash. So we leave the cave and check the nearby fields for an Electric-type, or anything else capable of learning it. The first thing we stumble on is a Mareep. Little ol' Shimmer over there.> Shimmer blushed and rubbed the bright orb at the end of her tail against the ground. <Trace ain't picky, so he sends me out to throw the Mareep around enough to capture it. I guess I overdid it a little, 'cause Shimmer still doesn't like me.> He chuckled and the Ampharos stuck her tongue out at Boggle, still blushing. <So I give her a quick one-two, Trace throws the ball, and ten seconds later she's on his belt. We go back into the cave, she lights the place up while we make our way through it, and things are going pretty smoothly until we reach the exit. There was a rock slide, as is commonplace in Rock Tunnel. Shimmer almost gets crushed under the debris, but Urzu and his busy-body self rush in and crush the rocks. She's enamored by the over-eager monkey, convinced he did it because he loves her. He was probably just looking for an excuse to break something, the brute.> Urzu snorted again and Shimmer held him closer, deciding that she was upset with Boggle for being so mean. <So after we get back to Lavender -- Trace's hometown, by the way -- Trace is just about to put Shimmer up in the PC box at the Pokemon center. All she had to do was give him the ol' puppy dog eyes, though, and he changed his mind. Lucky for her she's been pretty useful since then. And I guess that's the end of that story.>
Wolx yawned, a little bored since he'd heard this story before. Boggle just loved to go on and on and on and on when they were all sitting around the campsite like this. He was willing to admit the Swampert made an alright story-teller, though; even though this was the third time he'd heard this story, he'd still paid attention through all of it.
Now that Trace and Mion were a good distance away from the others, he nodded to Mion and pocketed his hands. "Alright. All you have to do now is let Shadow eat. Have him go out and kill something in the most gruesome way it can. I'm, uh...gonna have my back turned. I don't want to see it." He shivered a little, feeling a little bad about condoning Poke-murder. But it was a wild Pokemon they were targeting; wild Pokemon died all the time. As long as Shadow actually ate the thing, his conscience wouldn't kill him.

<Wow!> Giggle said, fascinated by all of the stories. He grinned excited and bounced. "K-kill?" Mion asked, looking as everyone else. Shadow began choking on his jerky. He hadn't killed anything much after he was caught. <I dunno if he can do that..> Spike said, sounding skeptic about the whole thing. Mion's face went from shocked to confused. "B-but why?" She didn't want to kill anything!
<What!? Shadow wouldn't kill anything...Would he?> Everyone looked to Shadow who had stopped choking. <W-wha! N-no!> he shuddered out. <I don't want to eat something!> Mion looked back a Trace. "Could we find some other way if possible?" she asked tenderly, almost hurt sounding. Giggle blinked back tears at his trainer. <Oh!> Giggle yelled. <Giggle will cheer everyone up by telling his story!> Shadow sighed. <Oh here we go..> Kain muttered something to Mion, like 'why did you let him have so many s'mores?' or something, followed by her giving a shrug. Giggle sat by the fire. <It was many, many years ago....> ________________________________
There was a huge castle, where a beautiful princess lived. Her name was Mion... The hell Mion wasn't a princess! Well she could of been, you don't know Shadow. I was Mion's first damn pokemon! I know what the hell happened! Stop with the interruptions in my story! Now...
But sadly Mion was trapped inside the castle, by the evil dark lord Shadow!
Wh- STOP INTERUPTIN'!!! Bejesus.... But of course, there was a brave knight to save her! His name was Lord Giggles! He rushed in to save the princess and killed the evil Dark Lord Shadow and saved them all! _____________________________
<The end.> he said smiling and sitting. Everyone else made a face. Mion laughed nervously. "N-nice story Giggle..." He smiled. <Thank you.> Shadow sighed. <That little brat..>Both Blazer and Spike were laughing softly. <Oh come Mr.Dark Lord...You should be happy he...included...you.....in his story!!!> Spike and Blazer burst out laughing while Shadow fumed. Mion looked back to Trace. "Well?"

Trace sighed and most of his Pokemon looked away, save Wolx. "It's not as though it's something I want to do. But the fastest way to catch a Pokemon is to bring it to you, instead of hunting it down. If you're not in a hurry, we won't have to bait a trap. But we will have to spend some time waiting out in the grass, away from the campfire." He looked back to Mion, his expression softening as he looked on her face. "Sorry...I didn't mean to upset you..." Based on looking at her, he didn't really think she'd have a problem with something like that. He misjudged her. By a lot. "Let's get moving. If we're going to catch one before daybreak, we should start now."
Shimmer giggled at the aptly named Giggle, her tail swaying happily. <That was a great story, Giggle! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.> Her long neck extended over to the bag of marshmallows and plucked one of the gooey treats from it, chomping happily. <Okay, okay! I want to tell my story now!>
<It was many years ago, back in Kanto, where my trainer Trace grew up, he found himself at the foot of Rock-->
<You idjit, I just told this story!> Boggle interrupted her, squirting her with a light dose of water.
<Well you didn't tell it right!> Shimmer countered by sticking out her tongue.
<I still told it! You're gonna put everyone to sleep, telling the same story twice!> Boggle and Shimmer shot daggers at each other after that, glaring hard, waiting for one of them to falter. Dirge interrupted their growling with his sudden appearance and speech.
<I want to tell a story.> He said simply, and began without waiting for anyone's permission to do so.
<I have lived a very long, very storied life. Most of it was spent in Lavender Town, at the Pokemon Tower, a place for lost souls to rest. Or it was, until the humans...'renovated' it and it became a radio tower. I and my brethren were forced to relocate. Many fled to the wilds; I stayed behind at the tower, determined to let the humans know it was my home, not theirs. My efforts to scare them off went...more or less...unnoticed. I wasn't capable of much beyond simple pranks back then. They blamed it all on each other, and rather than being scared, they simply laughed.
<Trace's father worked as a DJ at the tower. He probably still does, I don't know. One day he brought his son to the tower, to show him what it was like. Trace didn't seem all that interested, until...he bumped into me. We met by accident, but he didn't seem scared. He didn't even seem startled. He was, in fact, quite friendly. He shared his marshmallows with me...they were delicious.> He seemed to space out for a bit before continuing. <He came back to the tower every day, visiting myself and his father, until the day everyone caught on about me. Mr. Fuji was asked to perform an 'exorcism'. He simply asked me to leave. I didn't want to, obviously, but when Trace asked the same thing...I couldn't refuse. I made him promise he would still visit every day, and began living in Mr. Fuji's newly finished shrine. Soon after, he and I became partners. I was his first Pokemon.>
The story ended there, and Dirge's great red eye scanned the Pokemon around him, searching their faces for signs of emotion. <Surely my tale was heartwarming to the very core. And yet I see no tears. Why is this?>

Mion gazed at Trace. "It's fine...I'd just rather find another way to catch a pokemon, rather than kill it.." She said softly before smiling."Anyway, getting started soon might be good.."
Giggle face went up it a slight twitch. <We're crying on the inside?> he asked, while everyone else nodded. <See, we prefer not to cry, for it makes us look less manly...> Spike spoke coolly. Blazer suddenly laughed. <Hey Spike, why don't you tell them your heart-warming tale?> He laughed, joined by Shadow. Spike made a face. <Well if I remember correctly, both I and Kain we're found at the same time....> Kain snorted midway. <Fine, I'll tell it ya pussy..> Both Blazer, Ario and Shadow laughed at the comment while Spike growled. Giggle looked up at Mion. <What's a pu-> she covered her hand over his mouth. "We'll save that for another time." she said.
<About a few years back I, back when I was a Houndour, lived on Cream Road. I was very young, but I was a great trouble maker.> Kain said, looking at the fire, as if in deep thought. <After a few months of harmless pranks and stealing, I wanted to be recognized throughout Remoor, so I set out, and join a gang of pokemon...> _____________________________________________________
<So you want to join our gang eh?> A Houndoom by the name of 'Black Jack' was the leader. He had a scar that ran down his face, gleaming in all of it's glory. He said that he had gained it in a fight with a legendary. <I dunno..you don't look like 'gang' material...> He pushed me back as him and his gang laughed.
<They look like a bunch of babies!> A Skitty complained. <We are not babies!> I said. <Well do whatever you want! No complaining!> Black Jack then said, <Sure kids...you can join..> I looked at him in excitement. <If, you can get rid of that Beedrill nest in the Emerald Forest!> he and his gang laughed again.
I looked surprised. <What problems could you have with Beedrills?> I asked, while Black Jack grinned. I've never seen such an dark, evil grin before. <We killed one of their babies 'cause they traveled in our territory...so they'se have a grudge against us.> The thought of pokemon killing other pokemon, had never before crossed my mind before, so truly I was scared. That's when I saw Spike. He stood next to the Skitty, also laughing. Apparently Black Jack found him, and took care of him.
I was determined to get rid of them, so I set out, trying to prove myself.
<WAHH!!> I remember screaming as the mass amount of Beedrills swarmed me, like a black and yellow cloud. I ran so fast it would of put Blazer to shame. _________________________________________________
A laugh stopped him. He looked at Spike and smirked. <Ah yea, that's when I found ya..> Spike said, before showing his side.
<He ran faster than those Beedrill could fly, but the sheer mass of them couldn't be helped. I saw him dash past me like acontest pokemon on steroids and, I decided to help him, since I saw that look on his face earlier.> He smiled.
<I did what I could.> _________________________________________________
Zap!
Boom!
Dust filled the air as I shocked them. I don't know how many I got, but they flew back, retreating back to where ever the hell they came from.
<You okay?> I asked him. He looked shocked at what I did to them. <So that's why your in Black Jack's gang...> he said, blinking. I just nodded. <Black Jack takes care of me, ever since I was younger.> I began to walk back to Cream Road, with him following behind. <So I'm guessin' I'm not getting in since you help huh?> I shook my head. <Don't worry, you'll get in..>
<What? But you helped..> <What Black Jack doesn't know won't kill him.> I went back and smiled at him. Which he returned. <Thanks...> was all he said.
_____________________________________________________
<He proved himself worth over time. He showed great effort, and great determination, sadly, Black Jack didn't like him to much since he was getting better..
He took constant beat downs from him and verbal abuse. I think it might have been that Black Jack feared for his position in leadership, and tried to get Kain to leave.> He sighed before looking at Kain, who was still looking into the fire.
<But he stuck to it.
Until Black Jack fought him.
I knew Kain could win, but I still feared what would happen to him if he lost.
That's when Mion came.>
_________________________________________________
<Dammit..> Kain muttered. Both Black Jack and Kain faced each other, both scarred and bloody from fighting. Black Kack spat and then spoke. <Givin' up you little bitch?> He laughed. Kain growled. <You wish!> He roared before charging at him.
I flinched back, but before I saw what happened, a wave of fire took both of them out as they slid to the side. That's when Blazer showed up, along with Shadow.
<Well, well, well,> Shadow said, <look what we have here...> <The hell are you?!> Black Jack yelled.
Crunch!
Black Jack fell.
I felt a lot pain before being slammed aside.
Then, black.
We were in a hospitable, where we met Mion, and just like Ario, we were able to leave, but we stayed. _____________________________________________________
<Oooh!> Giggle clapped happily at the story. Shadow snorted while both Kain and Spike smiled at each other, then at Mion, who laughed, embarrassed.
