The rattata hit his throat, but he was surprised as how little damage she'd done. All his growl attacks were taking their toll on her attack power. <I don't care! I like my name and only my opinion matters!> "Time to go on the offense. Spud, Tackle." Digging his little claws into the soil he surged forward, hoping to take the ill tempered rattata by surprise.

Caught by surprise she was. The tackle hit her square on her sour muzzle, sending her flying back a few feet. Growling she waved her tail furiously trying to distract the young bulbasaur. Then like a gun from a bullet she surged towards Spud in a tackle. Her muzzle turned slightly so it wouldn't take the impact, it hurt quite a bit after all. The tackle from the little Bulbasaur would leave a bruise. yet all it left right now was a angrier disposition for the Rattata.

"Move it Spud." She ordered when she saw the flag like movements of it's tail as the rattata got it's feet under it. Spud hopped to the side, avoiding a direct hit, but still got clipped on his hip. "Rattata's fast, ah'll give it that." She muttered. Still on her shoulder, she could feel Fuzz nodding. "Still don't think it's allat bright." As the rattata passed, Spud spun around to keep an eye on the speedy little pokemon.

She hissed in frustaration as the attack clipped the Bulbasaur. That had hurt her front leg more then it had probably hurt the bulbasaur. Chittering words unfit for anyone's ears she whirled on her feet and charged forward again. This time her torso was turned towards Spud, hoping that the wider area would give her a higher accuracy rate. <I have to hand it to you--your trainer's not allat bright mate. Liek pokemon like trainer eh?> Still charging forward she ignored the tree and bush directly behind Spud.

He'd blushed at her ... colourful language, thankful Brynn couldn't understand poke-tongue. While he was fairly sure his trainer would have appreciated the brutal honestly, he doubted she would have approved of the words used to express it. Brynn's eyes were fixed on the battle and he followed her gaze. He saw what was going to happen next the same time he was sure Brynn did. <She has speed to spare, shame she doesn't share that speed with her brain.> He chirred. Brynn snorted.
---------------------
"Lets its reflexes do the thinkin' for it. Can't break a habit that deep." She said as the Rattata charged blindly for Spud. She waited until the last moment. "Jump!" She almost barked. And Spud did jump, clearing the top of the curly tail by a good couple of inches. Target gone, rattata had nothing but a tree to stop it's charge.

Turning her head to shot back a comment the Rattata turned her head slightly. Digging into the ground she tried to stop, but only slowed her headlong crash into the tree. Lucky for her the tree was mostly rotten, and it crumbled and fell away instead of harming her. The pain came mostly from the humilation, this was her forest area, and no doubt on of her friends had seen her foolish move.
Whirling on her back legs she took a threatening step towards Spud. Her white muzzle pulled back over her fangs in a half-snarl. Without a second thought she shot forward in one of her speedy tackles. <I do not need to use intellect with you, speed is more then enough for you and your worthless companions!> She was through with the profanityy, it was time to run circles around this Bulbasaur. Which she began doing, darting twice out of her circular path to try and hit Spud.

Brynn shook her head. "Speedy, stubborn, but still stupid. Gonna exhaust itself tryin' ta keep that up." She'd trained all sorts of pokemon back home, all except the stupid ones. She just didn't have the patience for those. "Wait it out Spud." She reviewed the battle so far in her head. "Ain't gonna be able ta keep that up much longer. And don' try ta follow, just make ya dizzy." She leaned against a tree and used one of her few clean possessions to clean her glasses once she pulled them off her face. She began to whistle an old tune about a soldier, a war and a treasure.

Then the Rattata stopped , directly behind the bulbasaur. The speed from before aiding her greatly she leapt in a tackle attack towards Spud. <Really? What amount of intelligence does standing there imply? Servantry loyalty?> (I know its not a word I just decided that she would say that)
Her approach to battle did usually involve making her oppenent dizzy. Yet this stupid girl was tellinh him not to watch her! It wasn't tbe bulbasaur that was the problem but the trainer. Lost in thoughts of fury she stood there in front of the bulbasaur her whiskers quivering in anger.

She rolled her eyes. Most pokemon usually had the sense to not turn their backs on their foe. "Might a'well finish it." She thought "Spud, Tackle." "Saur!" Spud grunted as his legs bunched for a second, gathering strength before he launched. At full speed, he slammed into the distracted rattata.
Fuzz was cheering as the purple pokemon went sailing and landed hard on the ground. Brynn went to check to see if it'd fainted or not. If it hadn't, she was considering catching it after all. "Stupid or not, ah gotta admire that kinda stamina."

The Rattata leaped above the attack, the tackle doing nothing but breezing under her tail. Of course the small breeze did ssend her stumbling nose first to the ground. Pushing herself up she stared daggers at Spud. <That hurt you overgrown berry!> Red eyes narrowed she thundered in a tackle attack , not towards Spud but towards a rock behind him. Hitting the rock she spun towards Brynn and narrowed her eyes.

<I missed!> Spud thought in disbelief as he screeched to a stop, little claws dragging long and shallow furrows in the ground. <How did she know when to jump?> He whirled to face the rattata ... only to find her running the other way. Utterly befuddled by this strange move, he dropped his guard and cocked his head questioningly as he tried to figure it out. The realization came three heartbeats after she had bounced off the rock. Too late to do anything but utter a startled <No!> and watch in horror while hoping that, against all odds, Fuzz could stop her.
Fuzz had recognized the tactic from descriptions by the adults. It was one of those simple, yet very effective tactics taught to all the smaller ground and non-flying tree dwellers of the forests. Build up speed, bounce from rocks and tree trunks, attack from an entirely unexpected angle. He'd never attempted it, his sight being as poor as it had been, just finding enough food to sustain himself had been hard enough. He didn't recognize there was any danger until Spud had uttered his cry and all of Brynns muscles had tensed. By the time he knew what the danger was and pushed himself off his perch in an attempt to intercept, rattata was very close. He overshot her. It was perfectly understandable, from an outsiders point of view. Fuzz, having been nearly blind all his life, never fought a battle, having only a day and a half of full sight and jumping from a moving shoulder at a target smaller and faster than himself; of course there was no way he'd make contact. But to Fuzz, watching the angry female zoom under him and hearing the thud of rattata striking Brynn, the grunt of pain from his kind trainer with her bag full of magic, the scuffling sound of feet struggling to regain balance and, finally, the rather distinct sound of a large body impacting the earth; it was unacceptable. It meant he failed to do what all pokemon are meant to do for their trainers ... protect them.

The rattata hit the ground hard, the wind being knocked out from her chest. Her small body wasn't made for such a impact, and it hurt! Pushing hersel up she found herself staing into the Sentret's eyes. The eyes of this littke pokemon were beyond odd! They were half transperent! <Whats wrog with you? Oh tree--runner-?> She was referrinh to all the times her and other pokemon had seen him run into trees and various foliage.

By some miracle, her glasses had stayed on her face. So with a couple of deep huffs to regain her lost wind and a good bit of worried prodding from Spud, she sat up. Instantly, her ears were filled with furious chittering. The events of a minute ago caught up with her and she got angry. Spud joined the arguing, Fuzz and rattata were twice their normal size, every hair on their bodies sticking straight out in their agitation. "Why you little ...!" She growled as she grabbed an empty pokeball from her pack. The tauros and ryhorn back home, she knew to expect physical rebellion from them and they knew just much rebellion she'd take. There was always that line, they never tried to hurt her intentionally. Had she been the usual age of a new trainer, ten or eleven years old, that attack could have done some serious damage. "Spud, Fuzz. Git over here." She faced the puffed up rodent. "Ya little vermin, thatsa damn bad habit ya got there, attackin' trainers. Or'm I the only the first?" She challenged, Fuzz and Spud each on one side of her.

The Rattata seemed to laugh, or at least something like it. <Hehe--its a bad habit you got there human, attacking Pokemn?> Humans were such hypocrites! They were angry when pokemon attacked and killed humans, but how many Rattatas had been fed to a serpent-pokemon to make them stronger? How many had been yanked away by a trainer only to be cast out days later? Of course this female had remained safe for so long by staying in her little tree hollow.
<Hypocrite...> The rattata shook her head, staring at the Sentret and the Bulbasaur. They'd see. Red eyes narrowing she backed up from Brynn.
