Professor Mahogany, the man Hotoka would have to meet in order to officially start his "journey". Walking through the town, Hotoka already started to grow comfortable here and the small grin on his face became more pure and cheerful than it had been for months. Looking around he was searching for the professor's lab, quite a task seeing that Hotoka had the navigational skills of a pineapple. "Eh.. Lab, lab, lab -- where art thou?" Not noticing the laboratory standing behind him, it actually took Hotoka sever hours before he had finally found it.
A door, with a small note on it, a small note giving the names of several pokemon known as "starters", the pokemon most trainers gain when beginning with their journey. Hotoka already had one - no two pokemon as of this moment, and thus doubted he would get any more. Carefully knocking on the door of the lab, he opened it and poked his head inside, followed by the rest of his body slipping through the half-opened door. Once finally inside, he looked around to see if there was any sign of a professor, or anyone at all. A soft humming noise would come from Hotoka as he waited for someone to arrive.

"I do suggest you knock when entering a lab filled with vicious pokemon." A monotonic voice echoed from the depths of a mahoghany desk in the corner. A neat stack of papers showed the work that needed to be done, and a pen, highlighted in psychic blue was rapidly making calculations. Of course this Alakazam beat any calculator at the speed of his mathmetical problems. "No one teaches manners anymore. At least wipe off your feet, before the floor shines after a scrub it with you face.
The tail of the creatue behind the desk banished any doubt that this thing was not human. Of course that was if the rock hard, golden skin, long snout, and pentagonal shaped head didn't inform you of that fact. The Alakazam peered at the boy, his black eyes calm, but somewhat betraying his annoyance. "You have pokeball's what do you want!? Get ou----" The pen had clattered loudly to the desk, as the monotomic voice raised slightly in volume.
A gentle cough that erupted from the back of the room rocked the Alakazam from his path of scorn and anger. The psychic pokemon's face, fell. It would have been happy to kick out this little brat. Smiling like that, what was wrong with him? Maybe he was related to James.
Speaking Of James, the professor had come in dusty and dirty from the back door. "Sorry about that. Bill gets carried away. I culd use some help out back if you don't mind?" Hardly anyone minded doing something when professor Mahoghany asked them.

"I do suggest you knock when entering a lab filled with vicious pokemon."
A high-pitched "Ack!", followed by a small jump on the chair he used to sit on and a swift look at the floor came out of Hotoka as he heard the voice echoïng through the lab. Looking around his mouth fell open slightly as he saw an Alakazam standing in front of him. "P.. professor.. I.. I didnt expected you to be a.. well.." The stumbling words, mixed with the fast rate they were blurred out quickly made it impossible to be heard, it would be nothing but vague mumbling coming from a boy who was obviously amazed by the sight of a talking pokemon.
Almost curling up in his chair, Hotoka shivered at the thought he had done, he had made the professor slash Alakazam angry, this day could hardly become any worse. "P.. poke...? Oh yeah yeah, I.. uhmm.. I have pokeballs.. But I am not exactly a trainer ye.." He finally got an understandable sentence out, when the Alakazam himself was interrupted. Now, there was a professor talking to him, an actual professor -- not an Alakazam. A soft pfew came past Hotoka's lips as he took notice of this fact, and slowly got out of his fetal position. "Heh, heh uhh.. I kinda came here to get a pokedex.. as I.. I would.. was.. wanted to become a pokemon trainer, a real one that is." He scratched the back of his head slightly as he stood up and approached the desk, carefully and step for step, making sure not to anger any pokemon on his way there. With a bit of a face showing distrust, Hotoka walked even further towards the desk after hearing the professor asking him if he could help out. "Bu.. but of course.. I uhmm.. Yush, sure.." As Hotoka now stood slightly against the desk, leaning to it softly on it, trying to hide a soft yawn.

" No pokemon would want his job" The Alakazam uttered. Although he had appreciated the mistake he wasn't going to ruin his grouchy image by laughing. Turning back to the paper work, he ran his finger over his chin before very briskly picking up the pen and writing a sloppy signature. The rest of the papers received the same psychic treatement as the first one, it was for the most part the same, and he ad already read and categorized them all. Watching as the boy walked towards his desk, like he was on a mine field, he resisted the urge to yell 'Kaboo'. That wasn't very becoming after all.
"Thank you. I'll get you a pokedex afterwards, promise." The professor replied with a bow, his hand gently taking the cap from his balding head. A smile perched on his old, weathered features. Gesturing that the boy should come along he walked rather briskly towards the back door. Picking up a bowl as he went. Gesturing that Hatoka needed to do the same with a much heavier larger one. Of course ti shouldn't ave been to much for any teenage, even a gawky one like Hatoka.
"Oh hwo rude. I am the professor, call me James." The professor held the door open, and waited for Hatoka, to accompany him outsid.e

As the professor gave a small bow, Hotoka gave a quick nod with his head back and followed him towards the back of the lab. Once there the professor grabbed a bowl and directed Hotoka to do the same. Seeing how the professor did it with ease, Hotoka attempted to do the same. There was just a liiittle problem, his bowl was much heavier, while Hotoka himself was as skinny as can be.
With a bit of wriggling his shoulders underneath it and finally picking it up, Hotoka waggled after the professor. Once reaching the door the professor introduced himself, reminding Hotoka of the fact that he himself hasnt even done that yet. "I-uhhh.. I am Hotoka, it's an honor to finally be able to meet you, professor.. ehh.. James." A friendly nod was directed at James as Hotoka walked outside with the bowl still in his arms, looking back and waiting for the professor to direct him to whereever he would have to drop the bowl.

"Likewise I am sure Hotoka." Seeing the boy was struggling with his burden he laid his bowl down in the middle of the grassy plain he called his y ard. Gesturing towards a smalle fence through which a few odd trees and plants were visble he gestured for Hotoka to leave the large bowl right there. Behind the fence a few random pokemon cries could be heard. 'Carni!' 'Nidora!' 'skarsh!' being the few that stood out.
"Oh when I get started step back. The baby pokemon aren't a problem, but the disabled ones are. Grouchier then Bill without his nap." Through the air there was a flash of silver, and the professor was soon rubbing the back of his head. A bent spoon laying on the ground behind him. Bill had good hearing, he had to give him that much.
Remembering hearing something about the boy having pokemon of his own, he decided to make a offer. "Let the out will you? They're probably hungry." In reality he wanted to make sure they were good health, sme new trainers didn't quite treat them correctly. Leaving them malnourished and unhappy.

As the professor directed where Hotoka would have to drop the bowl, Hotoka walked towards it, quickly increasing in speed. Once there, it actually took him a lot of effort to carefully place the bowl down on the ground and by the time he finally had the thing down, he already was close to exhaustion. Scratching the back of his head again softly, Hotoka saw the professor being hit in the back of the head with a spoon, something that could not have been called unpredictable, though it was deffinatly a surpise to Hotoka.
Then, the professor asked if he wanted to get his pokemon out. The sound of free food sounded like enough reason to get them out and with a flash, his Mareep and Aron were out. While the Aron stood next to Hotoka, waiting for any orders to be given, Mareep was already skipping around on a nearby grass field. A bit of an awkward "Heh" was to be heard when Hotoka asked Mareep to come back, while Mareep seemed either to pretend not to listen, or just simply be too occupied with whatever he was doing to actually hear Hotoka. "I.. ehhh.. Yeh, these would be my pokemon.." He said with a soft shaking voice.

Watching the two pokemon with a smile, the professor couldn't help but make a comparison. The free spirited Mareep , seemed to be a much happier Bill. While the obedient Aron resembled, his lazy, but obedient Venusaur Belair. Of course the Aron bore a closer resemblance to a Yiriki he had once had, but had died during a burgarly attempt at the lab. Shaking himself free of his memories, he reached his hand into the bucket, pulling out some of the pellets. Extending his arm through a hall in the fence he, gently tossed it. Doing this three or four times he waited until the pokemon were closer to the fence, before peering through a larger glass screen above the handhole.
He took a step back when he found himself face to face with a Carnivine, one with a bandage over one eye. A Red eyed Skarmor, that was missing its lower beak glared at him, before stalking off into the forest.
"A spirited one that Mareep." Hopefully it wasn't shy. Seeing as right now the baby pokemon had stopped their playing and were running helter skelter towards the bowl. A Ralsius was quickly outdistanced by a Torh=chic, but all were beat by a slow walking Chikorita. Who had been sleeping in the fence's shadow.

Hotoka couldn't help to let out a soft chuckle as he saw his Mareep literally bouncing towards the handhole on the fence. Even more amusing, was his Aron, who clearly wanted to dig in and eat 'till she bursted, yet tried her best to look non-challant and slowly walking towards it -- only to reach the handhole when the food was eaten.
"Heh, yeh he is.. he is indeed." Now focussing his attention from the pokemon to the professor, Hotoka finally took the time to give the professor a quick check. It was an interesting man to say the least, seemingly friendly to literally every pokemon and trainer he met. "But.. yeah. I was wondering, besides my pokedex, could you give me some tips 'n tricks that might help me in my journey? I know it might be a somewhat odd question, but I am not too familar with the pokemon world -- where I grew up they were more oriented towards 'normal' life. Not that I dont know stuff about it, heh heheh, but yeh, I would like to know more about it."

The Chikorita raised its head and sniffed at the Mareep, its buddy, a torh=chic crowding beside it. Both beasts were obviously female, and were fully intending to stop the males from pigging out on their food. The Torchic was even bold enough as to blow a ring of smoke in the drection of the mareep. Of course they did shuffly aside to offer the Aron a spot at the feeding bowl. Females had to stick it to the males after all, and show them who was really boss.
The professor lowered a flap over the door, leaving the rehabiltess to go about their business. Turning back towards the boy he allowed a smile to cross his face. "Well what kind of hints? I am sure i can offe quite a few." If the boy didn't specify he would start ranting, and usually that went on for at least 15 minutes.

"What kind of hints.. Heh, now that's a question.." Hotoka's look on his face switched to a rather troublesome one, only to switch back to that endless grin in an instant -- he had been forced to actually think of something. Of course, he could simply ask the professor to explain him 'everything' about pokemon, though he had the odd feeling he'd be sitting there for another thirty years if he did. Granted, he did wanted to know all about them, but didn't wanted to bother the professor with it, and didn't exactly felt like sitting there talking about it for years either.
"Hmm, well to start with the basics -- if you would know any strategies against the upcoming gym leaders. I really would have no idea what their strategies or types are and maybe you could give me some pointers." His hand moving slowly through his hair, he stared at the pokemon in the professor's back yard. All looking so happy, so much interesting pokemon running around -- all of them seeming quite rare, a small sparkle was to be seen in Hotoka's eyes. "I can understand if you would say 'That's something you should find out by yourself', but hey, a good preparation is half the work, isn't it?"
With one eye on his Mareep, who seemingly tried to wriggle himself between the Chikorita and the Torchic, and the other eye on his Aron, who was obviously enjoying the fact that Mareep wasn't granted permission to even touch the food. "Un, also.. I had some questions about pokemon and where to catch them.. Most of them conceirning Ghost and Electric pokemon – where to catch them? Especially those like Pachirisu, Duskull, Drifloon, Cubok… Chinchou, hell.. maybe even something about this ‘Rotom’.. They all seem to have such a mysterious aura to them, hard to resist looking all over the world just for them, is it not?” A soft break was to be held by Hotoka, looking at the ground at first, followed by him looking at the sky. “It’s probably the closest to a legendary pokemon you or I will ever meet, heh.”

"As far as the gym leaders I can tell you that your first one is a Dragon gym leader. Nothing more." The boy seemed friendly enough. Not to mention his statement was true, but the first gym battle usually prodded trainers into new paths, if they lost or won. Some went to become coordinators, while others decided that they liked walking the routes and decided to try being a ranger, and a few of them went for less 'accepted' jobs. The professor didn't like to think of them any more, it hurt him to realize what his pokemon were doing, or being forced to do.
"Well as for that, I can enter a few things into the pokedex and it will tell you. Bu for now, the first ghosts are on Route three, and the rest on the Moonlit fields." The professor stated turning his eyes back towards the pokemon eating. It was chaos. Now all the males were flooding towards the female, laughing, and prodding them out of the way to gain their spot with them.
The Chikorita, finally nodded to her Torchic companion, and they both backed away from hte food bowl. Fixing the charging males with a steely gaze as they did so. <Your lucky we like you.> The Chikorita mumbled, her nose held high into te air as the two creatures ran off to go play by themselves.

“Heh, guess I’ll have to find the rest out for myself then. But thanks, I’m quite positive I can do something with that information.” Dragon, could there be any type worse to start the first gym with? Being basically immune to almost all elemental attacks, this would have to be solved by brute force. Already starting to plan out how to act in this battle, Hotoka almost forgot he was in the presence of people and with a quick shake with his head, he got back to his senses.
Hotoka got somewhat of a smirk on his face as he saw that Mareep had apparently eaten enough, and so did his Aron so with a small hand gesture, he asked his pokemon to come closer. Aron standing next to him in mere seconds – Mareep taking his time and was soon rolling around again. Slightly scratching his head Hotoka walked a bit closer to the professor, leaning against the nearest tree he could find. It started to become dusk now, a yawn was covered up by a quick, fake, cough and Hotoka stretched himself out a bit.
“Hmm, it might be better if I headed out to find a place to sleep now, I don’t feel like searching for a bed in the middle of the night.. heh.” His Aron already in a pokeball, Hotoka tried to get Mareep back with some ‘subtle’ hand gestures – a lost cause, of course, and Mareep didn’t returned untill Hotoka got out his pokeball and got Mareep back in it. “So, professor. It definitely was a pleasure to meet you, and I have no doubts in the fact that I’ll be returning here some time – if not for letting you check out my progress, it’d be merely for a chat and catching up.” Already was Hotoka thinking of how it would be to be a professor himself – to discover new, or search for old pokemon. Even the helping of trainers in such a subtle way would be more than satisfying to do for a living. Though on the other hand, a white lab coat seemed to be nothing but horror and not matching his style, as well as his hair for the slightest bit. A dream that could head out in every direction, he would simply walk around, do what amuses him and let faith decide what would become of him.

(After this one thread closed correct? I will actually type a reply before to long) "Most new trainers would have no use for the type and rush in there with one level five. Lose, and give up." James had actually witnessed one such gymbattle, where a young male had tossed his Bulbasaur's pokeball on the floor of the gym, after he had lost to Haruka. That had been a pitiful day indeed. Not to mention Bill had gotten very angry and hung the boy by a spire in the gym ceiling, with nothing holding him but his underpants.
"The pokemon center shoud be open, but if you want, I do have a extra cot in the back." The information was important, he hoped this boy had known of the sanctuary that Pokemon centers offered, and had not been sleeping on the ground all the way here, from whereever he had hailed from. Although Bill would be angry at a extra house guest it was the professor's home. Regardless of the Alakazam's thoughts on the matter.
The pokemon were finished eating now. A few of the smaller ones were now rolling around on the round, and moaning. Oft the consquence for gorging themselves., they had to learn somehow about being greedy. So he didn't hand them out equal dishes, it was also a personality test.

“Ahh, hmm..” Walking a bit closer to the professor Hotoka listened to what he had to say. “P.. pokemon center? Y.. You can sleep at those things?” A somewhat awkward grin was to appear on Hotoka’s face as he let out a couple of “Heh”’s. “I.. I knew thattt… Uhhu uhhu. Oh, and though I appreciate your offer, I think I’ll just go to the pokemon center.” Giving a small greeting to the professor, Hotoka walked away, far into the horizon.
Only to return to the professor seconds later. “I.. uhmm.. Heh, I forgot to ask for my pokedex, map and other stuff.. hahah.” Yet another awkward laughter was to be heard as he scratched the back of his head and twiddled with his foot on the ground.
